On the Design Models of Urban Waterscape

Water is an intelligential element in landscape.Taking the planning and design of waterscape in Zixinyuan residential area as an example,the design model and its feasibility are discussed in terms of the design of waterscape and management system of water in urban residential area.It is considered that a good waterscape should satisfy two aspects:firstly,it should display a fine visual effect and profound artistic conception;secondly,the problems such as self-cleaning,recycling,and reuse of water should be solved by the management system to save water resource.The combination of the two aspects can inspire the ecological function of waterscape.And the waterscape and urban cultural environment can be in a harmonious coexistence.

Study on the Environmental Quality Evaluation of Waterscape Resources Area

The environmental quality of a region is co-determined by diversified factors among which there are always dominant ones or restrictive ones that play a significant role in the evolution of environmental quality.The quality of waterscape environment surely is correlated with water,the core element in waterscape.Taking Huangguoshu Scenic Area for an example,restrictive factors of the waterscape environmental quality were analyzed in this study,and basic approaches to evaluate the environmental quality of waterscapes were put forward.

Ecological Design of Hotel Waterscapes

Taking representative hotels in Guangzhou City for examples,this study investigated ecological waterscape designs in those hotels from the perspective of eco-design of animals and plants,water and bank.It was proposed that the eco-design of animals and plants requires the scientific application and combination of indigenous plants to protect bio-diversity and create a balanced ecosystem;eco-design of water should focus on the construction of an excellent water circulation system;eco-design of bank should help enhance the relationship between waterscapes and viewers,and satisfy human's nature of loving water.Besides,problems in those hotel waterscape designs were also analyzed and corresponding suggestions put forward,for example,in view of ecological problems in the design of water circulation system and the improvement of water quality,it was proposed that a water eco-balance system should be created and water kept clean;in view of security problems caused by polluted water,protective measures should be taken to guarantee safety of customers;as for those waterscapes with poor landscape effects,various means could be applied to improve its quality and show its best artistic effects;the overall planning of waterscape operation and maintenance should be enhanced to save water resources and operation cost.

Winter Waterscape Design for Residential Areas in Northeastern Cities of China——A Case Study of Waterscape Design of “Riverbank House” in Yingkou City of Liaoning Province

The paper has proposed the design concept of "solid waterscape". It considers that in waterscape design, it should select a design style suitable for local climate, traditional culture and folk customs; respect the nature and be close to nature; and approach the life and fit in with the reality. In terms of flowing water and solid water, it should make a reasonable and comprehensive design in terms of time, space and pattern, develop new landscape factors, and enrich winter landscape; set indoor waterscape; and enrich color design. By taking waterscape design of the residential area "Riverbank House" for example, it has stressed the solid character of water to highlight snow and ice culture and northeastern style, so as to create a natural and vivid snowy and icy landscape. Snow and ice have been the lead of winter landscape. Finally, waterscape can provide two different patterns of beauty throughout the year.

Study on the Water Quality of Urban Waterscapes in Beijing and Advices for Improvement

Excellent waterscapes in Beijing are significant in creating an outstanding image of China. Based on the Annual Environmental Status Bulletin issued by the website of Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, the water quality of urban water systems in Beijing was analyzed in this study, and corresponding improvement measures were put forward.

Regional Design of Waterscapes in Residential Areas of Northern Cities

Waterscape,as one of the most attractive landscapes in Nature,has been widely applied into modern urban residential areas.Waterscapes in different regions are endowed with diversified characteristics,thus artificial waterscapes should be suitable for their surroundings.In view of cities in northern China,the demonstration forms and design techniques of waterscapes in residential areas were discussed in this study.

Waterscape Planning and Design of Modern Campus

Significance of modern campus waterscape planning and design for improving the overall image of university, enriching campus culture and promoting the moral, intellectual and physical development of students was analyzed, landscape features of water and water-loving nature of people were elaborated, moreover, Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University taken for an example to show the role of waterscape in campus design. It was stressed that water can make environment more active and define spaces; waterscapes are of great plasticity in landscape design and able to adjust microclimate. Living examples were taken to discuss waterscape design on campuses from the perspectives of spatial design, scale design, cultural and ecological properties, and design of waterfront spaces, combination of waterscapes and other campus environment elements. Key points in the maintenance and management of campus waterscapes were expounded in terms of water environment maintenance, water system management, and utilization of waterscape ecological benefits, then planning and design thoughts of ecological campus waterscapes were discussed to promote the waterscape planning level of modern campus.

On Waterscapes in Urban Residential Area from the Perspective of Rain Garden and Eco-pool Designs

Due to the high cost for operating and maintaining waterscapes, waterscapes in many residential areas have been laid aside and even become pollution sources. Taking MCC Beiluyuan (Residential Area) in Chongqing Municipality for example, concrete strategies of using natural terrains to design rain garden and eco-pool, collect rainwater, construct bottom of the bath, and combine plants were introduced, so as to explore a new approach of creating green and ecological modern residential landscapes.

Maintaining eco-health of urban waterscapes with imbedded integrating ecological entity： Experimental approach

An imbedded integrating ecological entity(IIEE) was designed to combine landscaping, replenishing-water purifying and ecosystem maintaining simultaneously. With this IIEE, within 15 d experiment, simulated replenish water(SRW) with high(SRW-Ⅰ) or low(SRW-Ⅱ) nutrients concentration was well purified. Relative removal rates of CODCr, TP, TN, Chl-a and turbidity reached 84.87%, 84.05%, 94.76%, 188.17%, 110.93% when dealing SRW-Ⅰ, and 52.62%, 90.05%, 82.44%, 166.15%, 202.99%, respectively, when dealing SRW-Ⅱ. The well grew flora and fauna of IIEE benefit eco-maintaining and landscaping. Separately, the maximal root and stem length-increments of Cyperus alternifolius Linn. were 26.1 mm and 28.4 mm, while for Potamogeton crispus Linn. 18.3 mm and 25.7 mm. Mortality for both Bellamya aeruginosa and Misgurnus anguillicaudatus was both under 2.96%. The analysis of variance(ANOVA) indicated that most experimental indexes in each group performed more significantly better than those in their control. All results indicated that the IIEE is a promising technology for future urban waterscapes construction.

Exploration of Waterscape Design Techniques on Campus

The important role of modern campus waterscapes in adjusting micro climate, enhancing landscape sustainability, enriching university cultures and improving overall environmental image was introduced, principles and laws of campus waterscape design explored. Outstanding waterscape designs were introduced from the perspectives of waterscape space design, embankment and waterfront landscape, aquatic animals and plants, ambience expression of campus waterscapes. Key points of maintaining water environment and water system were elaborated, and new ecological means of campus waterscape design were recommended, for example, artificial wetland and rainwater collection.

Waterscapes in Tourist Area Based on “Game Theory”

Johan Huizinga’s Game Theory was applied to analyze game activities in tourism,it was found that visitors could experience the significance of games when they were participating in the games.On the basis of game theory,the author classified waterscape design models into play model,game model,and experience model,explored landscape design models based on water games,so as to provide a new concept for the design of waterscapes in tourist area.

“Empathy” of Waterscapes in Modern Landscapes

Functions of waterscapes in modern landscape design were elaborated,and important role of "empathy" in the construction of waterscapes was proposed.Ways of creating rich "modal" languages of waterscape design were explored,such as symbolizing,contrast,foil and metaphor.And it was also proposed that all successful waterscape designs take the connection among human,water and environment into consideration.

Effect of Waterscape Structures on Nitrogen and Phosphorus Removal Efficiency in Revetment Wetland System

The effect of aeration and waterscape structures reaeration system on nitrogen and phosphorus removal efficiency in revetment wetlands was studied by laboratory simulation. The results showed that the removal efficiency of TN, TP in tranquil flow waterscape was 61% and 72%; aeration and waterscape structure system promoted nitrogen and phosphorus removal efficiency in revetment wetland through increasing the DO content in the water, compared with system without artificial oxygen, the removal efficiency of TP in waterscape structures increased by 11. 6%-19. 1%, and that of TN increased by 10.5%-16. 1%; meanwhile, disturbance brought by the waterscape structure systems enhanced the adsorption of TP and flocculation effect; in addition, nitrification was confirmed as the main control step of TN removal in revetment wetland system.

Humanistic Design of Campus Waterscapes:a Case study of the Ruzi Lake Landscape Architecture Design of Ludong University

This is a study case of the Ruzi River landscape architecture design of Ludong University.According to the principles of no-pollution,ecologicalization,culture-orientation,sustain ability,adaptation to local conditions and practicability,the campus is made a place for study and leisure for teachers and students with the application of China's classical garden design techniques such as "opposite scenery", "background image themed scenery", "four seasons landscaping", "landscape levels" and "screen view".Based on this example,this paper has made an in-deep research on landscape architecture design of universities.

Analysis of Waterscape Engineering Skills of Classical Chinese Gardens

In classical Chinese gardens,the waterscape has its own unique style of expression,which is to highlight the simulation of the natural water landscape and its combination with the elements of the garden.As a pole of classical garden theory,waterscape plays an important role in organizing space and creating the overall landscape effect.In addition to the landscape concept and water management method,the combination of engineering practices and landscape aesthetics involved guarantees Artistic presentation of water bodies in gardens.Based on the existing research,this study cut in from the perspective of engineering technology,and conducted detailed research on engineering techniques,materials application and artistic expression under different water body functions and forms,and explored the fusion of "making" "technique" and "art" in the waterscape construction.

Evidence-Based Design Application of Water Landscaping for Rehabilitation Gardens for Patients with Mental Disorders

The aim of the article is to explore the influence of the water landscape design of a rehabilitation garden for patients with mental disorders on the recovery effect of patients,intending to provide a better rehabilitation environment for patients with mental disorders.Based on literature research,this article reviews three aspects of evidence-based design theory,the concept of water landscape in rehabilitation gardens,and the types of water features in rehabilitation gardens.The results show that well-designed water features can significantly improve patients’psychological state and reduce anxiety and stress,and that water landscape design in rehabilitation gardens is an effective rehabilitation tool that can facilitate the recovery process of patients with mental disorders.Future designs should take into full consideration patients’needs and preferences,as well as best practices in waterscape design,to maximize its positive impact on patients’recovery.

Study on Construction Strategy of Rainwater Landscape System in Urban Residential Community

On the basis of analyzing the function and restriction conditions of water features in residential community, the feasibility and specific strategies of using rain- water to construct the waterscape system in residential community were proposed, with the aim to deal with the problems of urban water shortage, urban waterlogging and initial rainwater non-point source pollution.

Evaluation of Public Satisfaction on Landscape Water in Weihe Park

By introducing the public satisfaction theory,the 4-grade evaluation index system of public satisfaction was established on the basis of the public attitude towards waterscape project of Weihe Park as well as other research fruits.Questionnaires were designed and handed out to 196 respondents to investigate psychological status of the public.Then extension evaluation was adopted to figure out the public satisfaction,and the results showed that 86.46% of the respondents were more satisfied with the project.Therefore,citizens of Baoji City held a positive attitude towards the waterscape project of Weihe Park.

Water System Landscape Planning of Jiang'an Campus of Sichuan University

Planning layouts of Jiang'an Campus, Sichuan University were introduced as well as its water system landscape planning, by dividing waterscapes into planar waterscapes, linear waterscapes and dotted waterscapes, all regions were further analyzed to summarize problems as below: limited participatory contents of waterscapes on Jiang'an Campus, isolation of waterscapes, inadequate maintenance and seasonal treatment. Then corresponding suggestions were given, for example, installing a unified and clear identification system in all sections, selecting several key sections for further designing and enhancing its identifiability; highlighting integrated design of waterscapes and programming concepts, increasing spaces for quiet activities; maintaining regularly, and stressing seasonal aspects of plants in the supplementary planting.

Exploration of Near Water Rural Landscape Planning and Design:Taking Shiping Village,Zhijiang City in Hubei Province as an Example

By centering on the problems in rural environment and ecology in new rural planning of China,this study is to discuss the new rural planning modes through the effective methods on the near water rural landscape planning and design.Based on the studies of the status at home and abroad,borrowing ideas from successful cases,this study intends to apply the landscape ecological design technique to the Shiping Village,Zhijiang City in Hubei Province by depending on the near water geographical position and water resources.Through improving pools,fishponds,rivers,canals and other environments near water and planning and design of landscape,modern ecological new countryside with features of water resource is formed.Through discussion,we find effective ways to improve ecological environment of countryside,protect style and feature of countryside near water,construct people-oriented rural development system of and promote the construction of rural human habitat environment.Such landscape planning model of countryside near water obtains good ecological and environmental effect,and provides references for projects of similar themes.
