In Order to reduce the noise in the images and the physical storage, the wavelet-based image compression technique was applied to PIV processing in this paper. To study the effect of the wavelet bases, the standard PIV images were compressed by some known wavelet families, Daubechies, Coifman and Baylkin families with various compression ratios. It was found that a higher order wavelet base provided good compression performance for compressing PIV images. The error analysis of velocity field obtained indicated that the high compression ratio, even up to 64.1, can be realized without losing significant flow information in PIV processing. The wavelet compression technique of PIV was applied to the experimental images of jet flow and showed excellent performance. A reduced number of erroneous vectors can be realized by varying compression ratio. It can say that the wavelet image compression technique is very effective in PIV system. 展开更多

Low complexity joint source-channel decoding for transmission of wavelet compressed images

To utilize residual redundancy to reduce the error induced by fading channels and decrease the complexity of the field model to describe the probability structure for residual redundancy, a simplified statistical model for residual redundancy and a low complexity joint source-channel decoding(JSCD) algorithm are proposed. The complicated residual redundancy in wavelet compressed images is decomposed into several independent 1-D probability check equations composed of Markov chains and it is regarded as a natural channel code with a structure similar to the low density parity check (LDPC) code. A parallel sum-product (SP) and iterative JSCD algorithm is proposed. Simulation results show that the proposed JSCD algorithm can make full use of residual redundancy in different directions to correct errors and improve the peak signal noise ratio (PSNR) of the reconstructed image and reduce the complexity and delay of JSCD. The performance of JSCD is more robust than the traditional separated encoding system with arithmetic coding in the same data rate. 展开更多

In order to preferably identify infrared image of refuge chamber, reduce image noises of refuge chamber and retain more image details, we propose the method of combining two-dimensional discrete wavelet transform and bilateral denoising. First, the wavelet transform is adopted to decompose the image of refuge chamber, of which low frequency component remains unchanged. Then, three high-frequency components are treated by bilateral filtering, and the image is reconstructed. The result shows that the combination of bilateral filtering and wavelet transform for image denoising can better retain the details which are included in the image, while providing better visual effect. This is superior to using either bilateral filtering or wavelet transform alone. It is useful for perfecting emergency refuge system of coal mines. 展开更多

Every day, SST acquires 50 GB of data (after processing) but only 10GB can be transmitted to the ground because of limited time of satellite passage and limited channel volume. Therefore, the data must be compressed before transmission. Wavelets analysis is a new technique developed over the last 10 years, with great potential of application. We start with a brief introduction to the essential principles of wavelet analysis, and then describe the main idea of embedded zerotree wavelet coding, used for compressing the SST images. Methods Image fusion technology was applied to biological cell imaging processing. It could match the images and improve the confidence and spatial resolution of the images. Using two algorithms, double thresholds algorithm and denoising algorithm based on wavelet transform,the fluorescence image and transmission image of a Cell were merged into a composite image. Results and Conclusion The position of fluorescence and the structure of cell can be displyed in the composite image. The signal-to-noise ratio of the exultant image is improved to a large extent. The algorithms are not only useful to investigate the fluorescence and transmission images, but also suitable to observing two or more fluoascent label proes in a single cell. 展开更多

Based on low illumination and a large number of mixed noises contained in coal mine, denoising with one method usually cannot achieve good results, so a multi-level image denoising method based on wavelet correlation relevant inter-scale is presented. Firstly, we used directional median filter to effectively reduce impulse noise in the spatial domain, which is the main cause of noise in mine. Secondly, we used a Wiener filtration method to mainly reduce the Gaussian noise, and then finally used a multi-wavelet transform to minimize the remaining noise of low-light images in the transform domain. This multi-level image noise reduction method combines spatial and transform domain denoising to enhance benefits, and effectively reduce impulse noise and Gaussian noise in a coal mine, while retaining good detailed image characteristics of the underground for improving quality of images with mixing noise and effective low-light environment. 展开更多

Because of cloudy and rainy weather in south China, optical remote sens-ing images often can't be obtained easily. With the regional trial results in Baoying, Jiangsu province, this paper explored the fusion model and effect of ENVISAT/SAR and HJ-1A satel ite multispectral remote sensing images. Based on the ARSIS strat-egy, using the wavelet transform and the Interaction between the Band Structure Model (IBSM), the research progressed the ENVISAT satel ite SAR and the HJ-1A satel ite CCD images wavelet decomposition, and low/high frequency coefficient re-construction, and obtained the fusion images through the inverse wavelet transform. In the light of low and high-frequency images have different characteristics in differ-ent areas, different fusion rules which can enhance the integration process of self-adaptive were taken, with comparisons with the PCA transformation, IHS transfor-mation and other traditional methods by subjective and the corresponding quantita-tive evaluation. Furthermore, the research extracted the bands and NDVI values around the fusion with GPS samples, analyzed and explained the fusion effect. The results showed that the spectral distortion of wavelet fusion, IHS transform, PCA transform images was 0.101 6, 0.326 1 and 1.277 2, respectively and entropy was 14.701 5, 11.899 3 and 13.229 3, respectively, the wavelet fusion is the highest. The method of wavelet maintained good spectral capability, and visual effects while improved the spatial resolution, the information interpretation effect was much better than other two methods. 展开更多

Image enhancement technology plays a very important role to improve image quality in image processing. By enhancing some information and restraining other information selectively, it can improve image visual effect. The objective of this work is to implement the image enhancement to gray scale images using different techniques. After the fundamental methods of image enhancement processing are demonstrated, image enhancement algorithms based on space and frequency domains are systematically investigated and compared. The advantage and defect of the above-mentioned algorithms are analyzed. The algorithms of wavelet based image enhancement are also deduced and generalized. Wavelet transform modulus maxima(WTMM) is a method for detecting the fractal dimension of a signal, it is well used for image enhancement. The image techniques are compared by using the mean(μ),standard deviation(?), mean square error(MSE) and PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio). A group of experimental results demonstrate that the image enhancement algorithm based on wavelet transform is effective for image de-noising and enhancement. Wavelet transform modulus maxima method is one of the best methods for image enhancement. 展开更多

By analyzing the influence of wavelet properties on image compression, this paper proposes wavelet construction rules and builds a new biorthogonal wavelet construction model with parameters. The model parameters are optimized by using genetic algorithm and adopting energy compaction as the optimization object function. In addition, in order to resolve the computation complexity problem of online construction, according to the image classification rule proposed in this paper we construct wavelets for different classes of images and implement the fast adaptive wavelet selection algorithm (FAWS). Experimental results show wavelet bases of FAWS gain better compression performance than Daubechies9/7. 展开更多

The cerebral blood flow(CBF) alterations related to sound-induced opening of the blood–brain barrier(BBB) in adult mice are studied using laser speckle contrast imaging(LSCI) and wavelet analysis of vascular physiology.The results clearly show that the opening of the BBB is accompanied by the changes of venous but not microvessel circulation in the brain. The elevation of the BBB permeability is associated with the decrease of venous CBF and the increase of its complexity. These data suggest that the cerebral veins rather than microvessels are sensitive components of the CBF related to the opening BBB. 展开更多

The analysis of underwater topography ultrasonic image, which can be obtained by using B-scan ultrasound imaging technique, is the basis and important work in topography study. In this paper, we present a novel self-adapted method for the extraction of submerged topographic line. Since the distribution of gray values in the image has a mutation process, this feature is used to appropriately track the topographic line of imaging band, and wavelet denoising method is applied to denoise the obtained lines. The described method also takes the continuity of topography into consideration during tracking procedure. The results show that the extraction error is within 2-pixel width(approximate 1 mm). This method is suitable for the extraction of current model topographic lines with the advantages of good self-adaption, high speed and high resolution. 展开更多
