This study presents a comparative analysis of two image enhancement techniques, Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), in the context of improving the clarity of high-quality 3D seismic data obtained from the Tano Basin in West Africa, Ghana. The research focuses on a comparative analysis of image clarity in seismic attribute analysis to facilitate the identification of reservoir features within the subsurface structures. The findings of the study indicate that CWT has a significant advantage over FFT in terms of image quality and identifying subsurface structures. The results demonstrate the superior performance of CWT in providing a better representation, making it more effective for seismic attribute analysis. The study highlights the importance of choosing the appropriate image enhancement technique based on the specific application needs and the broader context of the study. While CWT provides high-quality images and superior performance in identifying subsurface structures, the selection between these methods should be made judiciously, taking into account the objectives of the study and the characteristics of the signals being analyzed. The research provides valuable insights into the decision-making process for selecting image enhancement techniques in seismic data analysis, helping researchers and practitioners make informed choices that cater to the unique requirements of their studies. Based on the analysis of traditional wavelet denoising methods, which are based on Fourier transform, an improved method is proposed. It overcomes the shortcomings of the traditional Fourier denoising method. In this paper, the denoising procedures are introduced respectively based on the wavelet transform and the method of connecting the wavelet threshold with the wavelet basis is adopted. Through Matlab simulation and concrete data, it arrives at the conclusion that the method of signal denoising based on the wavelet transform is obviously more effective and better than the traditional method based on Fourier transform. 展开更多

Nyquist folding receiver (NYFR) is a typical wideband analog-to-information architecture. Focusing on the non-cooperative receiving, the pulse radar signal intercepted by the NYFR in time domain is analyzed. The NYFR outputs under different input conditions are investigated based on the extended Fourier transform (EFT) and the sampling theorem. Combining with the characteristic of the NYFR output in time domain, a new time of arrival (TOA) estimation method based on the energy envelope and the wavelet transform is proposed. The proposed estimation method can be adapted for the non-cooperative situation. It has no requirement for prior information to determine the threshold and is not necessary to transform the signal into baseband. Simulation results prove the correctness of the NYFR output expressions and show the efficacy of the proposed estimation method. © 2017 Beijing Institute of Aerospace Information. 展开更多

The time-frequency analysis method is the most widely used method in the two-dimensional transformation domain. In this paper, two typical time-frequency analysis methods of short-time Fourier transform and Wigner-Ville distribution are studied by analyzing the time-frequency transform of typical radar reconnaissance linear frequency modulation signal, aiming at the problem of low accuracy and sen-sitivity to the signal noise of common methods, the improved wavelet transform algorithm was proposed. 展开更多

Phys. Lett. 22 2316). The amplitudes of fractional Fourier transform of Cantor sets are analysed from the viewpoint of multifractal by wavelet transform maxima method (WTMM). An integral operation is carried out before the application of WTMM, such that the function obtained can be considered as the perturbed devil staircase. Also, wavelets with large number of vanishing moments are used, which makes the complete singularity spectrum more accessible. The validity of multifractal formalism is guaranteed by restricting parameter q to a proper range, so that the phenomenon of multifractal phase transition can be explained reasonably. Particularly, the method of determining the range of parameter q in the above paper is developed to be more operational and rigorous. 展开更多

The results show that the peak height and width in wavelet energy spectrum of a periodic function are in proportion to its period. At the same time, a new equation, which can truly reconstruct a trigonometric function with only one scale wavelet coefficient, is presented. The reconstructed wave shape of a periodic function with the equation is better than any term of its Fourier series. And the reconstructed wave shape of a class of nonstationary periodic function with this equation agrees well with the function. 展开更多

作为处理非平稳信号的一种重要工具,模糊函数(ambiguity function,AF)已经被广泛应用于雷达信号处理、声纳技术等领域,并对线性调频信号信号的参数估计具有极好的处理能力。但对应用于众多领域的二次调频信号,模糊函数就显得无能为力了... 作为处理非平稳信号的一种重要工具,模糊函数(ambiguity function,AF)已经被广泛应用于雷达信号处理、声纳技术等领域,并对线性调频信号信号的参数估计具有极好的处理能力。但对应用于众多领域的二次调频信号,模糊函数就显得无能为力了。作为Fourier变换的更广义形式,分数阶Fourier变换(Fractional Fourier trans-form)近年来受到了广泛关注。为解决二次调频信号的估计问题,本文研究了基于分数阶Fourier变换的模糊函数,给出了这种变换的一些新的重要性质,如共轭对称性、Moyal公式、时移性等,推导出了它与经典模糊函数、基于分数阶Fourier变换的Wigner分布、短时Fourier变换、小波变换等其他时频变换的关系。作为应用,最后本文用这种分数阶模糊函数来估计二次调频信号,应用实例的仿真结果表明了分数阶模糊函数在估计二次调频信号参数方面的可行性和有效性。 展开更多

对于固定的尺度,小波变换是待分析信号与小波基函数的线性卷积。当小波基函数的Fourier变换有显式表达式时,利用其Fourier变换进行线性卷积称为小波变换的频域计算方法。由于线性卷积的长度大于信号的长度,因此,选取线性卷积中的哪一部... 对于固定的尺度,小波变换是待分析信号与小波基函数的线性卷积。当小波基函数的Fourier变换有显式表达式时,利用其Fourier变换进行线性卷积称为小波变换的频域计算方法。由于线性卷积的长度大于信号的长度,因此,选取线性卷积中的哪一部分作为小波变换的系数也是一个亟需回答的问题。本文利用Fourier变换的离散化和离散Fourier变换的关系由小波变换时域算法推导了小波变换频域算法,证明了时域算法与频域算法的等价性;解释了这两种方法分别应该选取线性卷积中的哪一部分作为小波变换的系数;分析了频域算法产生边界效应的原因;给出了频域算法中参数的选取方法,以便克服边界效应。时间复杂度分析以及数值实验均表明了频域算法至少比时域算法减少了1/3的运行时间。 展开更多

Fourier transform (FF) is a commonly used method in spectral analysis of ocean wave and offshore structure responses, but it is not suitable for records of short length. In this paper another method, wavelet transform (WT), is applied to 'analyze the data of short length. The Morlet wavelet is employed to calculate the spectra density functions for wave records and simulated Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels' responses. Computed wave data include simulated wave data based on JONSWAP spectrum and the recorded data of Storm 149 from North Alwyn. Wavelet method is validated by comparing the statistical characteristics by WF method and those by fast Fourier transform (FFT) method with those of target spectra. The spectral density fnnctions' shapes calculated by WT are less malformed and have less error of statistical characteristics compared with those by FT especially when the record lengths decrease. 展开更多
