Nonstationary wind speed c...The wind-rain induced vibration phenomena in the Dongting Lake Bridge (DLB) can be observed every year, and the field measurements of wind speed data of the bridge are usually nonstationary. Nonstationary wind speed can be decomposed into a deterministic time-varying mean wind speed and a zero-mean stationary fluctuating wind speed component. By using wavelet transform (WT), the time-varying mean wind speed is extracted and a nonstationary wind speed model is proposed in this paper. The wind characteristics of turbulence intensity, integral scale and probability distribution of the bridge are calculated from the typical wind samples recorded by the two anemometers installed on the DLB using the proposed nonstationary wind speed model based on WT. The calculated results are compared with those calculated by the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and traditional approaches. The compared results indicate that the wavelet-based nonstationary wind speed model is more reasonable and appropriate than the EMD-based nonstationary and traditional stationary models for characterizing wind speed in analysis of wind-rain-induced vibration of cables.展开更多

The WPT is able to decompose an image into low frequency band and high frequency band in higher scale. It offers a more precise method for image analysis than Wavelet Transform (WT). Firstly, the proposed approach employs HIS (Hue, Intensity, Saturation) transform to obtain the intensity component of CBERS (China-Brazil Earth Resource Satellite) multi-spectral image. Then WPT transform is employed to decompose the intensity component and SPOT (Systeme Pour I'Observation de la Therre ) image into low frequency band and high frequency band in three levels. Next, two high frequency coefficients and low frequency coefficients of the images are combined by linear weighting strategies. Finally, the fused image is obtained with inverse WPT and inverse HIS. The results show the new approach can fuse details of input image successfully, and thereby can obtain a more satisfactory result than that of HM (Histogram Matched)-based fusion algorithm and WT-based fusion approach.展开更多

This method can also realize partial encryption just as wavelet transform and fractional wavelet transform. Optical reali-zation of encryption and decryption is proposed. The scheme combines the wavelet transform and traditional Sobel and LoG (Laplacian of Gaussian) operator edge-detection algorithms. The precise theory analysis is given to show that the wavelet transformation has an advantage for signal processing. Simulation results show that the new scheme is better than only using the Sobel or LoG methods. Complexity analysis is also given and the conclusion is acceptable, therefore the proposed scheme is effective for edge detection.展开更多

The performance can be evaluated and predicted through early state monitoring and data analysis. The vibration signal was modeled from the double row bearing,and wavelet transform and support vector machine model( WT-SVM model) was constructed and trained for bearing degradation process prediction. Besides Hazen plotting position relationships was applied to describing the degradation trend distribution and a 95%confidence level based on t-distribution was given. The single SVM model and neural network( NN) approach were also investigated as a comparison. Results indicate that the WT-SVM model outperforms the NN and single SVM models,and is feasible and effective in machinery condition prediction.展开更多
