Three kinds of mathematical models representing welding heat sources are presented. Among them, Gaussian model and double ellipsoidal model are used to analyze the thermal distributions with finite element method. At the same time, this paper analyzed the influences of the heat source models, the latent heat and the welding parameters on the temperature distributions. The comparisons between the simulated results and the experiments show double ellipsoidal model is good for three-dimensional numerical simulations. Furthermore, the adaptive mesh technique is applied in the three-dimensional model which greatly reduces the number of nodes and elements in the simulation. 展开更多

Colormetric method of images by using two different wavelength images is a new measuring method for welding temperature field on the basis of ordinary colorimetric method, which depends little on the measuring distance, emissivity of body etc. In this paper the real time measuring system and measuring principle of welding temperature field are described, the whole welding temperature field is real time measured, so the temperature distribution at the welding direction and its cross section is obtained, then parameters of thermal cycle. With data from the temperature closed loop control system of the parameters of temperature field is developed and tested. Experimental results prove that it has high measurement speed (time of a field within 0.5 s ) and good dynamic response quality. Weld penetration can be controlled satisfactorily under the variation of welding condition such as welding thickness, welding speed and weldment gap etc. 展开更多

The accurate calculation and measurement of welding temperature field is an important precondition for welding metallurgical analysis and welding process controlling. In this paper, the conformal transformation is firstly used to analyze the welding temperature field of featheredged cylinder. The center of the cylinder is chosen as the origin of column coordinate system, and every point may be expressed as complex field vector. The branch isogonality counterchanges the line parallel with the fusion line in half-infinite z-plane to the circle concentric with the fusion line in infinite cylinder. The Laplace equation and Poisson's equation still keep validity, so the temperature field equation can be solved. The conformal transformation and equation solution is processed by Matlab program language. It shows that the obtained analytical modeling of temperature field for featheredged cylinder based on conformal transformation is effective and accurate. 展开更多

The manual selection of environment parameters during welding simulation will bring a significant error to the simulation result of welding temperature field. By a combination of finite element method (FEM) and infrared thermography, these environment parameters were inversed mathematically in place of previous manual selection. First, FEM model of the welding process was constructed, and the temperature field was computed with initial environment parameters. Then, a real welding process was conducted and the temperature field was measured by infrared thermography. Last, the simulation and measurement results were compared, and the environment parameters were adjusted continuously with the genetic algorithm ( GA ) until the simulation matched the measurement best. Parameters according to the best-matched simulation results were considered as the most appropriate parameters. 展开更多
