In order to improve the curving performance of the conventional wheelset in sharp curves and resolve the steering ability problem of the independently rotating wheel in large radius curves and tangent lines, a differential cou- pling wheelset (DCW) was developed in this work. The DCW was composed of two independently rotating wheels (IRWs) coupled by a clutch-type limited slip differential. The differential contains a static pre-stress clutch, which could lock both sides of IRWs of the DCW to ensure a good steering performance in curves with large radius and tangent track. In contrast, the clutch could unlock the two IRWs of the DCW in a sharp curve to endue it with the characteristic of an IRW, so that the vehicles can go through the tight curve smoothly. To study the dynamic performance of the DCW, a multi-body dynamic model of single bogie with DCWs was established. The self-centering capability, hunting stability, and self-steering performance on a curved track were analyzed and then compared with those of the conventional wheelset and IRW. Finally, the effect of coupling parameters of the DCW on the dynamic performance was investigated. 展开更多

A barrier-free wheelchair robot with a mechanism coupled by wheel and track is presen- ted in this paper. Using the wheelchair, the lower limb disabled persons could be more relaxed to take part in outdoor activities whether on flat ground or stairs and obstacles in the city. The wheel- track coupling mechanism is designed and the stability of the bodywork of the wheelchair robot on the stairs is analyzed. In order to obtain the stability of wheelchair robot when it climbs obstacles, centroid projection method is applied to analyze the static stability, stability margin is proposed to provide the stability under some dynamic forces, and the push rod rotation angle in terms of the guaranteed stability margin is given. Finally, the dynamic model of the wheelchair robot based on Lagrange equation is established, which can be a theoretical foundation for the wheelchair control system design. 展开更多

Rail weld irregularities are one of the primary excitation sources for vehicle-track interaction dynamics in modern high-speed railways. They can cause significant wheel-rail dynamic interactions, leading to wheel-rail noise, component damage, and deterioration.Few researchers have employed the vehicle-track interaction dynamic model to study the dynamic interactions between wheel and rail induced by rail weld geometry irregularities. However, the cosine wave model used to simulate rail weld irregularities mainly focuses on the maximum value and neglects the geometric shape. In this study, novel theoretical models were developed for three categories of rail weld irregularities, based on measurements of the high-speed railway from Beijing to Shanghai. The vertical dynamic forces in the time and frequency domains were compared under different running speeds. These forces generated by the rail weld irregularities that were measured and modeled, respectively, were compared to validate the accuracy of the proposed model. Finally, based on the numerical study, the impact force due to rail weld irrregularity is modeled using an Artificial Neural Network(ANN),and the optimum combination of parameters for this model is found. The results showed that the proposed model provided a more accurate wheel/rail dynamic evaluation caused by rail weld irregularities than that established in the literature. The ANN model used in this paper can effectively predict the impact force due to rail weld irrregularity while reducing the computation time. 展开更多

The output amplitude noises of one squeezed probe light which is at resonance throughout different optical depths media in strong- and weak-coupling-field regimes are investigated theoretically.By comparing the output quantum noises for different Rabi frequencies of coupling field and also for different optical depths,it is found that the optimal squeezing preservation of the probe light occurs in an optically thin medium with strong-coupling-field,where we can obtain the output squeezing close to the input one at nonzero detection frequency. 展开更多

A multi-voltage probe array system is designed to measure the coupling resistance of an ion cyclotron resonance frequency antenna. In the process of the antenna coupling resistance data extraction, the minimization algorithm, the original Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm, is replaced by the Broyden–Fletcher–Goldfarb–Shanno algorithm to achieve more stable and accurate results. Moreover, a simple model of the multi-voltage probe array was applied to simulate the performance of the Kalman filter, and to optimize the distance and position of the probes and probe number to mitigate the influence of the system noise on the rebuilt results. During the EAST experiment in 2019, a four-voltage probe array was applied to measure the coupling resistance of line 6 during high confined mode discharge. The measurement results by the multivoltage probe array system and the voltage/current probe pair show a good agreement. 展开更多

Non-metallic nanocarbon materials catalyzed coupling reactions of primary amines to produce imine is an efficient, green and sustainable synthetic route, which has a wide application prospect in fine chemicals or pharmaceutical molecules. In the present study,we show firstly the relatively high catalytic activity of graphene oxide in the reaction of oxidative coupling of benzylamine(OCB),which is even comparable with typical metal-based catalysts, indicating the great potential of nanocarbon materials in this reaction system.More importantly,a novel twophoton fluorescence probe molecule(N-propyl-4-hydrazinyl-1,8-naphthalimide,NA)with special chemical structure of hydrazine functionality was synthesized. The probe NA could selectively react with aldehyde or ketone compounds, leading to the photoluminescence enhancement via inhibition of photo induced electron transfer(PET)process. The synthesized NA was applied as probe in carbon catalyzed OCB system to predict the existence of reaction intermediate benzaldehyde(BA),indicating the reaction pathway of oxidation-deamination-condensation in nanocarbon catalyzed OCB process. The proposed luminescence-probe strategy for revealing the kinetics and mechanism may also shed light in other reaction systems concerning the intermediates or products of ketones or aldehydes. 展开更多

Significant progress has been made in mixed boundary-value problems associated with three-dimensional(3D) crack and contact analyses of advanced materials featuring more complexities compared to the conventional isotropic elastic materials. These include material anisotropy and multifield coupling, two typical characteristics of most current multifunctional materials. In this paper we try to present a state-of-the-art description of 3D exact/analytical solutions derived for crack and contact problems of elastic solids with both transverse isotropy and multifield coupling in the latest decade by the potential theory method in the spirit of V.I.Fabrikant.whose ingenious breakthrough brings new vigor and vitality to the old research subject of classical potential theory. We are particularly interested in crack and contact problems with certain nonlinear features.Emphasis is also placed on the coupling between the temperature field(or the like) and other physical fields(e.g.,elastic,electric,and magnetic fields). We further highlight the practical significance of 3D contact solutions,in particular in applications related to modern scanning probe microscopes. 展开更多

The use of thallium(I) hydroxide (TlOH) as a base is known to extremely accelerate the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction using organoboronic acid or organoboronic acid ester as a substrate. Here, we investigated the effects of TlOH by comparing with other conventional bases such as KOH, K2CO3, and CsF for Pd0-mediated rapid cross-coupling reactions between CH3I and organoborane reagents, such as phenyl-, (Z)-4-benzyloxy-2-butenyl-, and benzylboronic acid pinacol esters under the conditions CH3I/borane/Pd0/base (1:40:1:3) in THF/H2O or DMF/H2O for 5 min with an aim to fabricate a PET tracer efficiently. Consequently, however, the use of TlOH was much less efficient than the other bases for the acceleration of cross-coupling reactions. Thus, it was reconfirmed that the milder and non-toxic conditions using K2CO3 or CsF so far developed by our group were most appropriate for the rapid C-methylations. 展开更多

Passive intermodulation(PIM)in communication systems is an unwanted interference caused by weak nonlinear currentvoltage characteristics of radio frequency(RF)passive components.Characterization of PIM is important for both the study of PIM mechanisms and the location/suppression of PIM sources.PIM probes, made of open-ended coaxial transmission lines, have almost the same coupling strength to carriers and PIM products, and are usually used for near-field PIM characterization.Namely,it doesn’t have any filtering capability. Therefore,it cannot stop the carrier power from entering into PIM tester’s receiver, which may trigger active intermodulation of the receiver and degrade the PIM tester’s performance. To overcome this drawback,a passive filtering coaxial probe is proposed here.Compared with existing passive coaxial PIM probes,it has stronger coupling strength for PIM products than for carriers. Thus, the probe itself can block part of the carrier power entering into the PIM tester’s receiver. This advantage helps improve PIM tester’s overall performance. Both theoretical analysis and experiments are conducted for demonstration. The proposed probe brings more possibility to PIM characterization. 展开更多

This paper develops a coupled dynamics model for a linear induction motor (LIM) vehicle and a subway track to investigate the influence of polygonal wheels of the vehicle on the dynamic behavior of the system. In the model, the vehicle is modeled as a multi-body system with 35 degrees of freedom. A Timoshenko beam is used to model the rails which are discretely supported by sleepers. The sleepers are modeled as rigid bodies with their vertical, lateral, and rolling motions being considered. In order to simulate the vehicle running along the track, a moving sleeper support model is introduced to simulate the excitation by the discrete sleeper supporters, in which the sleepers are assumed to move backward at a constant speed that is the same as the train speed. The Hertzian contact theory and the Shen– Hedrick–Elkins’ model are utilized to deal with the normal dynamic forces and the tangential forces between wheels and rails, respectively. In order to better characterize the linear metro system (LMS), Euler beam theory based on modal superposition method is used to model LIM and RP. The vertical electric magnetic force and the lateral restoring force between the LIM and RP are also taken into consideration. The former has gap-varying nonlinear characteristics, whilst the latter is considered as a constant restoring force of 1 kN. The numerical analysis considers the effect of the excitation due to polygonal wheels on the dynamic behavior of the system at different wear stages, in which the used data regarding the polygonal wear on the wheel tread are directly measured at the subway site. 展开更多

The ion density distribution in the reaction chamber was diagnosed by a Langmuir probe. The rules of the ion density distribution were obtained under the pressures of 9 Pa, 13 Pa, 27 Pa and 53 Pa in the reaction chamber, different radio-frequency powers and different positions. The result indicates that the ion density decreases as the pressure increases, and increases as the power decreases. The ion density of axial position z =0 achieves 5.8×1010 on the center of coil under the power of 200 w and pressure of 9 Pa in the reaction chamber. 展开更多

Local measurement of plasma radial uniformity was performed in a dual frequency capacitively coupled argon plasma (DF-CCP) reactor using an optical probe. The optical probe collects the light emission from a small separate volume in plasma, thus enabling to diagnose the plasma uniformity for different experimental parameters. Both the gas pressure and the low- frequency (LF) power have apparent effects on the radial uniformity of argon plasma. With the increase in either pressure or LF power, the emission profiles changed from a bell-shaped to a double-peak distribution. The influence of a fused-silica ring around the electrodes on the plasma uniformity was also studied using the optical probe. Possible reasons that result in nonuniform plasmas in our experiments are discussed. 展开更多

Changes of the electron dynamics in hydrogen (H2) radio-frequency (RF) inductively coupled plasmas are investigated using a hairpin probe and an intensified charged coupled device (ICCD). The electron density, plasma emission intensity, and input current (voltage) are measured during the E to H mode transitions at different pressures. It is found that the electron density, plasma emission intensity, and input current jump up discontinuously, and the input voltage jumps down at the E to H mode transition points. And the threshold power of the E to H mode transition decreases with the increase of the pressure. Moreover, space and phase resolved optical emission spectroscopic measurements reveal that, in the E mode, the RF dynamics is characterized by one dominant excitation per RF cycle, while in the H mode, there are two excitation maxima within one cycle. 展开更多

A numerical methodology is introduced to simulate the wheel wear evolution of heavy haul freight car. The methodology includes the spatial coupling dynamics of vehicle and track, the three-dimensional rolling contact analysis of wheel-rail, the Specht's material wear model, and the strategy for reproducing the actual operation conditions of railway. The freight vehicle is treated as a full 3D rigid multi-body model. Every component is built detailedly and various contact interactions between parts are accurately simulated, taking into account the real clearances. The wheel-rail rolling contact calculation is carried out based on Hertz's theory and Kalker's FASTSIM algorithm. The track model is built based on field measurements. The material loss due to wear is evaluated according to the Specht's model in which the wear coefficient varies with the wear intensity. In order to exactly reproduce the actual operating conditions of railway, dynamic simulations are performed separately for all possible track conditions and running velocities in each iterative step.Dimensionless weight coefficients are introduced that determine the ratios of different cases and are obtained through site survey. For the wheel profile updating, an adaptive step strategy based on the wear depth is introduced, which can effectively improve the reliability and stability of numerical calculation. At last, the wear evolution laws are studied by the numerical model for different wheels of heavy haul freight vehicle running in curves. The results show that the wear of the front wheelset is more serious than that of the rear wheelset for one bogie, and the difference is more obvious for the outer wheels. The wear of the outer wheels is severer than that of the inner wheels. The wear of outer wheels mainly distributes near the flange and the root; while the wear of inner wheels mainly distributes around the nominal rolling circle. For the outer wheel of front wheelset of each bogie, the development of wear is gradually concentrated on the flange and the developing speed increases continually with the increase of traveled distance. 展开更多

Low pressure argon dual-frequency (DF) capacitively coupled plasma (CCP) is generated by using different frequency configurations, such as 13.56/2, 27/2, 41/2, and 60/2 MHz. Characteristics of the plasma are investigated by using a floating double electrical probe and optical emission spectroscopy (OES). It is shown that in the DF-CCPs, the electron temperature Te decreases with the increase in exciting frequency, while the onset of 2 MHz induces a sudden increase in Te and the electron density increases basically with the increase in low frequency (LF) power. The intensity of 750.4 nm emission line increases with the LF power in the case of 13.56/2 MHz, while different tendencies of line intensity with the LF power appear for other configurations. The reason for this is also discussed. 展开更多

Automatic compensation of grinding wheel wear in dry grinding is accomplished by an image based online measurement method. A kind of PC-based charge-coupled device image recognition system is schemed out, which detects the topography changes of the grinding wheel surface. Profile data, which corresponds to the wear and the topography, is measured by using a digital image processing method. The grinding wheel wear is evalualed by analyzing the position deviation of the grinding wheel edge. The online wear compensation is achieved according to the measure results. The precise detection and automatic compensation system is integrated into an open structure CNC curve grinding machine. A practical application is carried out to fulfil the precision curve grinding. The experimental results confirm the benefits of the proposed techniques, and the online detection accuracy is less than 5 um. The inflexion point of electron density and effective electron temperature curves versus radio-frequency (RF) bias voltage is observed in the H mode of inductively coupled plasmas (ICPs). The electron energy probability function (EEPF) evolves first from a Maxwellian to a Druyvesteyn-like distribution, and then to a Maxwellian distribution again as the RF bias voltage increases. This can be explained by the interaction of two distinct bias-induced mechanisms, that is: bias- induced electron heating and bias-induced ion acceleration loss and the decrease of the effective discharge volume due to the sheath expansion. Furthermore, the trend of electron density is verified by a fluid model combined with a sheath module. 展开更多

Nitrogen dual-frequency capacitively coupled plasmas (DF-CCPs) with different fre- quency configurations, i.e., 60/2 MHz and 60/13.56 MHz, are investigated by means of opticM emission spectroscopy (OES) and a floating double probe. The excited nitrogen molecule ion N+(B) is monitored by measuring the emission intensity of the (0,0) bandhead of the first neg- ative system (FNS) at 391.44 nm. It is shown that in the discharge with 60/13.56 MHz, the N+ emission intensity decreases with the increase in pressure. In the discharge with 60/2 MHz, however, an abnormal enhancement of N+ emission at higher pressure is observed when a higher power of 2 MHz is added. Variation in the ion density shows a similar dependence on the gas pressure. This indicates that in the discharge with 60/2 MHz there is a mode transition from the alpha to gamma type when a higher power of 2 MHz is added at high pressures. Combining the measurements using OES and double probe, the influence of low frequency on the discharge is investigated and the excitation route of the N+(B) state in the discharge of 60/2 MHz is also discussed. 展开更多
