Whole-Process Project Cost Management Based on Building Information Modeling (BIM)

The whole-process project cost management based on building information modeling(BIM)is a new management method,aiming to realize the comprehensive optimization and improvement of project cost management through the application of BIM technology.This paper summarizes and analyzes the whole-process project cost management based on BIM,aiming to explore its application and development prospects in the construction industry.Firstly,this paper introduces the role and advantages of BIM technology in engineering cost management,including information integration,data sharing,and collaborative work.Secondly,the paper analyzes the key technologies and methods of the whole-process project cost management based on BIM,including model construction,data management,and cost control.In addition,the paper also discusses the challenges and limitations of the whole-process BIM project cost management,such as the inconsistency of technical standards,personnel training,and consciousness change.Finally,the paper summarizes the advantages and development prospects of the whole-process project cost management based on BIM and puts forward the direction and suggestions for future research.Through the research of this paper,it can provide a reference for construction cost management and promote innovation and development in the construction industry.

How Does Robotics Process Automation (RPA) Affect Project Management Practices

The main purpose of this literature review is to understand the effectiveness and impacts of Robotics Process Automation (RPA) on the practices of Project Management (PM). For attaining the purposes of the research study, an extensive literature review was conducted, which helped in gaining a theoretical understanding. These findings were then justified with the help of current and relevant secondary sources in the analysis section. The findings suggested that RPA is quite advantageous for implementing in varied aspects of a business, especially in the field of project management. However, it can pose several challenges, which need to be taken into due consideration by the organizations during execution such as the capabilities of the employees and the abilities of the existing systems to incorporate automation, among others. It was ultimately concluded that RPA is highly advantageous for project management teams but its effective implementation is the key to success.

Control and Management of Construction Project Cost

Project Management and Coordination of Distributed Cooperative Product Design in a Virtual Enterprise

The architecture of project management of distributed concurrent product design in a virtual enterprise is put forward. T he process of project management and its functions are presented. Product design process coordination is also discussed. First, based on the analysis of traditi onal project management, project management and coordination of distributed coop erative product design in the virtual enterprise is put forward. Then, aiming at the characteristics of a distributed concurrent product design process, the inh erent rules and complex interrelations in product development are studied. Accor dingly, the architecture of project management of distributed cooperative produc t design in a virtual enterprise is presented to adapt to distributed concurrent development of complex products. The main advantages of the architecture are al so discussed. Finally, the emphasis is placed on the project management process. Its main functions are set forth, such as project definition, task decompositio n and distribution, resource constraints and dynamic resource scheduling, proces s fusion, task scheduling and monitoring, project plan, cost and quality evaluat ion, etc.

Analyses on schedule-cost coefficient correlation of spaceflight project based on historical statistics and its application

When analyze the uncertainty of the cost and the schedule of the spaceflight project, it is needed to know the value of the schedule-cost correlation coefficient. This paper deduces the schedule distribution, considering the effect of the cost, and proposes the estimation formula of the correlation coefficient between the in（schedule） and the cost. On the basis of the fact and Taylor expansion, the relation expression between the schedule-cost correlation coefficient and the in-schedule-cost correlation coefficient is put forward. By analyzing the value features of the estimation formula of the in-schedule-cost correlation coefficient, the general rules are proposed to ascertain the value of the schedule-cost correlation coefficient. An example is given to demonstrate how to approximately amend the schedule-cost correlation coefficient based on the historical statistics, which reveals the traditional assigned value is inaccurate. The universality of this estimation method is analyzed.

Enterprise Process Modeling Methodology and Environment Supporting Project Management

Development of the global economy makes modem enterprises confront challenges of efficient managements for large projects and complex processes. Projects are typically managed in rather special manners. On the contrary, there exist many methodologies for product process management to achieve consistency and continuance. However, processes often lack flexibility offered by projects. This paper dis~ the relationship of conceptual characteristics between process and project, gives low-level details to tackle the difference between them, and proposes an enterprise process modeling method for project management. An integrated environment is designed to support the method from which both project management and process management can receive benefits and conform to the limitations.

A Novel Method for Assessing and Optimizing Software Project Process Based Risk Control

A new approach for assessing and optimizing software project process based on software risk control presented, which evaluates and optimizes software project process from the view of controlling the software project risks. A model for optimizing software risk control is given, a discrete optimization algorithm based on dynamic programruing is proposed and an example of using above method to solve a problem is also included in this paper. By improving the old passive post-project control into an active effective preaction, this new method can greatly promote the possibility of success of software projects.

Enhancing Software Process Management through Control Charts

In software development life cycle, Software Process Management (SPM) acts as a significant part throughout the execution of project. In this study, the application of control chart for analyzing the stability of software process and defects in the software product is discussed. This paper will discuss the analyzing impact or collision of rework effort, defect density, inspection performance and productivity by using control charts. This paper also explains the benefits and challenges of using control charts in software organization.

Common Management Process Model of New TQM Based on the Situation Analysis

In the previous study, we suggested the concept of new TQM based on the consideration of basic concept of Quality Control. Also, in the previous study, we suggested the target domains and entities of product and process based on the TQM Matrix and view point of Three Dimensional Unification Value Models for managing quality of organization systems. Furthermore, in the previous study, we suggest the Common Management Process of organizations. Based on the above suggestion, in this paper, we would like to propose the Common Management Process Model of Total Quality Management based on the consideration of situation analysis and more precise definition of TQM Matrix and Three Dimensional Unification Value Model of “Product and Process”. Improvement of quality and efficiency of organization management can be expected by the integration of conventional different management such as quality assurance, quality improvement, risk management, investment individually from the view point of common management process.

Making Sense of Hospital Project MisPerformance: Over Budget, Late, Time and Time Again—Why? And What Can Be Done About It?

Hospital projects worldwide often experience misperformance,showing a tendency to exceed their estimated cost,miss their deadline,suffer quality problems,and yield benefit shortfalls.Considering this ubiquitous problem,this paper aims to make sense of this phenomenon by addressing the following research question:How can we make sense of hospital project misperformance,and what can be done to mitigate its occurrence?We use an illustrative case study approach and the analytical lens of sense-making to examine the misperformance of three mega-hospital projects.Our research reveals issues such as scope changes,an inability to adapt and respond to risk and uncertainty,ineffectual project management and governance,and optimism bias,which combine to impact project performance adversely.We suggest that the two prominent theoretical perspectives dominating the literature in this field fall short of adequately explaining hospital project misperformance.We provide suggestions for improving the procurement process of hospitals and submit there is a need to develop a robust and balanced theory of project misperformance.

The Effect of Price Discount on Time-Cost Trade-off Problem Using Genetic Algorithm

Time-cost trade off problem (TCTP), known in the literature as project crashing problem (PCP) and project speeding up problem (PSP) is a part of project management in planning phase. In this problem, determining the optimal levels of activity durations and activity costs which satisfy the project goal(s), leads to a balance between the project completion time and the project total cost. A large amount of literature has studied this problem under various behavior of cost function. But, in all of them, influence of discount has not been in-vestigated. Hence, in this paper, TCTP would be studied considering the influence of discount on the re-source price, using genetic algorithm (GA). The performance of proposed idea has been tested on a medium scale test problem and several computational experiments have been conducted to investigate the appropriate levels of proposed GA considering accuracy and computational time.
