Utilizing complementary therapy to enhance quality of life and reduce stress and fatigue in pediatric cancer patients

The international scientific literature presents still incipient results regarding the management of cancer symptom clusters by oncology nursing,especially in pediatric oncology.This is a promising field of investigation for clinical nurses and researchers,and when it is subsidized by medium-range theories,they co-rroborate the diagnoses and interventions of nursing in oncology,enhancing the science of nursing care.This minireview article aims to discuss the utilizing the hospital clowns as a complementary therapy,to enhance quality of life and reduce stress and fatigue in pediatric cancer patients.Overall,the evidence presented so far pointed out that complementary therapy might help improve the quality of life of pediatric cancer patients,and that complementary therapy usage should be part of a health comprehensive care model,delivering therapeutic approaches that might enhance the mind-body during a pediatric cancer patients’life span.The results of scientific investigations by nurses,particularly those linked to the basic sciences,play a critical role in advancing personalized care in pediatric integrative oncology.

Complementary Food Situation in Sierra Leone: Nutritional Problems and Possible Strategies—A Review

Low nutrient density and bulkiness of complementary foods, early introduction of solid foods, and unhygienic practices during weaning stage of a child predispose infants to malnutrition, growth retardation, infection and high mortality. In most West African countries, especially in Sierra Leone, the use of a variety of home-made complementary foods prepared from locally grown foodstuffs during the weaning process is popular, with products traditionally known as pap (mesh rice water) fofo from cassava, ogi, gari, akamu and couscous. Sierra Leone is one of the countries in West Africa that has been reported to have a challenging situation with regards to complementary foods, and little effort has so far been done to improve the situation. Despite these challenges, very little work has been directed towards the development of complementary foods using local foodstuffs as practiced in some other African countries. This situation has serious impact on the lives of infants in Sierra Leone, thus increasing the rate of mortality in the country. Complementary food situation in Sierra Leone was reviewed in terms of the past and present practices as well as the types of complementary foods used in Sierra Leone. Thus, the objective of this review was to discuss the complementary food situation in Sierra Leone: Nutritional problems and possible strategies. Formulation of high nutritive value home-made complementary foods in the country was recommended using traditional food processing techniques such as fermentation and germination, since these methods are simple, and could easily be employed at household and community levels without the use of sophisticated machinery. Nonetheless, it was recently reported that a product from the orange-flesh sweet potato could address the issue of complementary food in the country as it is easy to prepare, and the products are easily available in the rural area and even urban settings. Other recommendations made include: community nutrition education, the development of weaning recipe book, reduction in the workload of the suckling mother, promotion of breastfeeding and increased maternity leave period, which were suggested to be the most immediate possible strategies for the problems highlighted.

Computational temporal ghost imaging based on complementary modulation

We report an experimental demonstration of temporal ghost imaging in which a digital micromirror device(DMD)and+1/-1 binary modulation have been combined to give an accurate reconstruction of a nonperiodic time object.Compared to the 0/1 modulation,the reconstruction signal can be improved greatly by+1/-1 binary modulation even with half of the measurements.Experimental results show that 0/1 binary temporal objects up to 4 kHz and sinusoidal time objects up to 1 kHz can be reconstructed by this method.The influences of modulation speed and array detector gray levels are also discussed.

Complementary memtransistors for neuromorphic computing: How, what and why

Memtransistors in which the source-drain channel conductance can be nonvolatilely manipulated through the gate signals have emerged as promising components for implementing neuromorphic computing.On the other side,it is known that the complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS)field effect transistors have played the fundamental role in the modern integrated circuit technology.Therefore,will complementary memtransistors(CMT)also play such a role in the future neuromorphic circuits and chips?In this review,various types of materials and physical mechanisms for constructing CMT(how)are inspected with their merits and need-to-address challenges discussed.Then the unique properties(what)and poten-tial applications of CMT in different learning algorithms/scenarios of spiking neural networks(why)are reviewed,including super-vised rule,reinforcement one,dynamic vision with in-sensor computing,etc.Through exploiting the complementary structure-related novel functions,significant reduction of hardware consuming,enhancement of energy/efficiency ratio and other advan-tages have been gained,illustrating the alluring prospect of design technology co-optimization(DTCO)of CMT towards neuro-morphic computing.

Use of Topical Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM) in Diabetic Septic Foot Disease in Makkah Region, Western of Saudi Arabia, an Exploratory Study

Diabetes is a chronic condition that is significantly impacted daily by environment. At least one in five Saudis, suffer from diabetes. “Diabetes is a pandemic of unprecedented magnitude spiraling out of control” (Boulton). Saudi Arabia ranks the second highest in the Middle East, and is the seventh in the world for the prevalence of diabetes (WHO). Diabetes mellitus (DM) has been found to be related to high mortality, morbidity accompanied by poor general health and lower quality of life. Current Saudi diabetes patients’ behaviors, practices, and beliefs regarding foot health problems such as ulcers, are not well investigated. Diabetic patients frequently utilize natural remedies and Herbs for self-medication as a part of complementary and alternative Medicine. Aim of study: To explore the widespread use of the alternative remedies in the local communities of the Western Saudi Arabia, the drives behind using and to focus on the potential adverse effects following their usage. Method: A descriptive, cross-sectional study of 386 diabetic patients with feet problems in Makkah Region, West of Saudi Arabia during the period April - June 2023. Results: Out of the 531 participants, only 386 participants reported diabetic foot disorder (DFD). Most of the participant were above 65 years of age group (24.61 %). Male (52.08%) more than female (47.92%) in the research group. All of the participants had diabetic foot disorders at least once. The prevalence of complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) use among them was 67.88%, as solitary or in combination with hospital medicines. Honey headed the list followed by myrrh and black seeds. Acquaintances advice (59.54%) was the most reason for using the alternative medicine. 60.30% of Diabetic foot patient complained of adverse effects during CAM remedies use. Conclusion: Consumption of CAM remedies among diabetic patients for Diabetic Foot Disorder (DFD) is common. Honey headed the list followed by myrrh and black seeds. Additional wide-scale research is required to establish their actual efficacy, safety and potential adverse out-comes and to generalize the outcomes.

Cambodia,funded and developed by China National Heavy Machinery Corporation(CHMC).This project has an installed capacity of 150 MW.Having completed its water storage in 2023,the plant,once operational,will provide Cambodia with a stable power supply.Moreover,CHMC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the 1,000 MW Upper Stung Tatay Pumped Storage Power Station-a key project,and the signing was witnessed by leaders of both countries.It will serve as a critical reserve and regulating power source in Cambodia,laying a foundation for subsequent renewable energy development in the country.

Economic Analysis Study of Agricultural and Solar Complementary System

Agro-photovoltaic complementary system(APCS)is an innovative land use model combining agricultural production with photovoltaic power generation,aiming to realize dual land use and improve land use efficiency and economic benefits by installing photovoltaic panels on farmland.With the growth of global energy demand and the intensification of climate change,agro-photovoltaic(APV)systems have received widespread attention as a sustainable energy solution.Studies have shown that agro-photovoltaic systems exhibit significant economic benefits in different regions and crop types.Through reasonable system design and optimization,the agricultural and photovoltaic complementary system is not only technically feasible,but also has significant economic advantages,which provides a strong support for achieving the goal of sustainable development.

Carbon efficiency evaluation method for urban energy system with multiple energy complementary

Urban energy systems(UESs)play a pivotal role in the consumption of clean energy and the promotion of energy cascade utilization.In the context of the construction and operation strategy of UESs with multiple complementary energy resources,a comprehensive assessment of the energy efficiency is of paramount importance.First,a multi-dimensional evaluation system with four primary indexes of energy utilization,environmental protection,system operation,and economic efficiency and 21 secondary indexes is constructed to comprehensively portray the UES.Considering that the evaluation system may contain a large number of indexes and that there is overlapping information among them,an energy efficiency evaluation method based on data processing,dimensionality reduction,integration of combined weights,and gray correlation analysis is proposed.This method can effectively reduce the number of calculations and improve the accuracy of energy efficiency assessments.Third,a demonstration project for a UES in China is presented.The energy efficiency of each scenario is assessed using six operational scenarios.The results show that Scenario 5,in which parks operate independently and investors build shared energy-storage equipment,has the best results and is best suited for green and low-carbon development.The results of the comparative assessment methods show that the proposed method provides a good energy efficiency assessment.This study provides a reference for the optimal planning,construction,and operation of UESs with multiple energy sources.

基于泊松噪声和优化极限学习机的多因素混合学习方法及应用

针对风电功率数据高波动性和间歇性的特点,文章提出了一种基于泊松噪声的互补集合经验模态分解(CEEMDPN)和改进的蛇优化算法(MSO)优化极限学习机的多因素混合学习方法。首先,利用CEEMDPN将风电功率序列分解为子序列;然后,引入曲线自适应调整参数改进蛇优化算法;最后,运用MSO优化的极限学习机(ELM)对每个子序列进行预测并集成。为了验证CEEMDPN-MSO-ELM模型的有效性,采用龙源电力集团的风电功率数据进行超短期预测,实证结果表明,CEEMDPN算法能够加强风电功率序列的主频率部分并提高分解精度,MSO算法能够很好地平衡算法的寻优速度与收敛精度,从而有效提升ELM模型的预测性能,所提模型的预测精度和稳健性均优于其他对比模型。

Complementary Pass-Transistor Adiabatic Logic Circuit Using Three-Phase Power Supply

A new low power quasi adiabatic logic,complementary pass transistor adiabatic logic (CPAL),is presented.The CPAL circuit is driven by a new three phase power clock,and its non adiabatic loss on output loads can be effectively reduced by using complementary pass transistor logic and transmission gates.Furthermore,the minimization of the energy consumption can be obtained by choosing the optimal size of bootstrapped nMOS transistors,thus it has more efficient energy transfer and recovery.A three phase power supply generator with a small control logic circuit and a single inductor is proposed.An 8 bit adder based on CPAL is designed and verified.With MOSIS 0 25μm CMOS technology,the CPAL adder consumes only 35% of the dissipated energy of a 2N 2N2P adder and is about 50% of the dissipated energy of a PFAL adder for clock rates ranging from 50 to 200MHz.

基于卧式抽蓄的多能互补系统容量配置优化研究

为提升传统水电的调节能力,扩大新能源的接入规模,可对常规水电站进行改造并增建泵站,以实现蓄能与发电的双重功能。构建基于卧式抽蓄的水电融合改造及风光水储多能互补系统,有助于实现对电网的调峰填谷,提高电网对新能源的消纳能力,保证风光等清洁能源进一步提质增效。通过对风电、光伏、水电和卧式抽蓄等发电子系统建立数学模型,设立目标函数与约束条件,利用优化算法对模型进行求解,得到风光互补出力与径流水电、垃圾发电和负荷特性规律,最后引入综合电费率计算互补基地的经济效益。分析结果显示,对第二级水电改造为卧式抽蓄后,丰水年的最优容量配置结果为风电645 MW、光伏1081 MW,互补基地的功率偏差减小至0.5320 MW/h,电力供应总成本降低至4.3621亿元,电网2相连时电费率降低至0.0284元/(kW·h),经济效益大幅提高。基于卧式抽蓄建立的多能互补容量配置优化模型,可进一步提高对能源的利用效率,充分发挥风光水储等资源的互补优势,提高系统的经济性和稳定性。

考虑时空效应的杭州软黏土超深基坑地表沉降分析方法

利用PLAXIS 3D软件和软土蠕变模型,建立杭州中心项目超深基坑群B2基坑的三维数值模型,深入分析了时空因素对坑外地表沉降的影响.引入互补误差函数和三折线模型,利用数值结果对既有互补误差函数进行修正,提出了考虑时空效应的地表沉降快速分析方法.结果表明:软黏土蠕变既诱发围护墙的附加侧移从而引起土体沉降,又诱发坑外土体产生不依赖于围护墙侧移的沉降;忽略软土蠕变对预测超深基坑坑外地表沉降的影响不弱于其对墙体侧移的影响;基坑深度和开挖速率相同时,开挖面积直接决定施工时间的长短,从而影响软黏土蠕变诱发的地表沉降.

考虑源侧不确定性的水光储系统短期互补调度研究

受光伏出力波动性影响,大规模新能源并网给电网的安全、经济运行带来了挑战。以余荷波动最小为目标,考虑光伏出力不确定性,建立了水光储系统短期优化调度模型,提出了光伏出力随机场景生成和典型场景聚类方法,以及耦合动态可行收缩、对数衰减步长和动态罚函数的改进POA算法。在某多能互补基地实例应用,结果表明,改进POA比传统POA算法迭代次数减少22.9%;总余荷波动从50万kW,降低至10万kW以下;水光储互补调度源荷匹配度高达0.998。模型具备较强的跟踪负荷、平稳余荷的能力。

婴幼儿喂养方式与低龄儿童龋相关性的研究进展

婴幼儿的喂养方式对口腔健康具有重要作用,主要包括母乳喂养和辅食喂养。在婴幼儿出生后6个月内,根据喂养物不同将喂养方式分为纯母乳喂养、混合喂养和人工喂养;随着生长发育和营养需求增加,开始添加辅食。与此同时在整个喂养过程中提倡回应式喂养,以期建立良好的饮食习惯。喂养方式与乳牙龋病的发生发展关系错综复杂,本篇综述重点关注了婴幼儿喂养方式与低龄儿童龋的相关性,为婴幼儿建立良好的喂养模式以预防低龄儿童龋提供依据。

Security investment and information sharing for complementary firms with heterogeneous monetary loss

Two complementary firms＇ information sharing and security investment are investigated. When two complementary firms with heterogeneous assets are both breached, it is assumed that they suffer different losses which are associated with their information assets. Some insights about optimal strategies for the firms and the attacker are obtained by the game theory, which forms a comparison with those derived from substitutable firms, and those derived from complementary firms with homogenous loss. In addition, both the unit transform cost of investment and the extent of firms＇loss affect the optimal strategies.Assuming that firms can control information sharing, security investments and both of them, respectively, the effect of the social planner is further analyzed on the information sharing, firms＇ aggregate defence, the aggregate attack and social total cost. Finally, some policy advice is provided through numerical simulation. Results show that firms are willing to choose security investment centrally rather than individually, but an intervention in information sharing by the social planner may not necessarily be preferable.

基于高效目标的多能互补能源站运行策略研究

以北京市海淀区某大型会议中心为例,采用DeST建立建筑能耗模型,进行了全年逐时负荷计算,依据项目所在地政策要求、资源禀赋及场地条件,确定采用地源热泵+空气源热泵的复合式系统,地源热泵制冷装机占比30.11%,制热装机占比32.21%,可再生能源制冷制热装机占比均为100%。通过对多能互补能源站中地源热泵机组、空气源热泵机组及循环水泵等设备的运行特性分析,提出了基于高效目标的机组最优能效加载+水泵变压差变流量控制策略,并与常规控制系统设定的机组顺次加载+水泵定压差变流量控制策略进行了全年运行能耗比较。结果显示:基于高效目标下的能源站控制策略供暖综合能效为3.36,较常规控制策略节能4.25%,能效提升4.44%;制冷综合能效为4.77,较常规控制策略节能11.03%,能效提升12.40%。该控制策略节能效果显著,可为类似多能互补能源站节能控制策略制定提供借鉴。

风光互补灌溉技术在缺水地区农业灌溉中的应用

水资源短缺和电网线路不贯通成为制约很多农业生产区发展的关键因素,在缺水地区,农业灌溉技术的革新尤为重要,风光互补灌溉技术作为一种新型、环保的灌溉方式,结合了太阳能和风能在时间上的互补性,形成了具有较高性价比的新能源发电系统。该文风光互补技术应用于缺水地区农业灌溉为出发点,分析了关键技术的实施思路以及现阶段应用情况,分析了技术应用的关键阻碍因素,并提供了解决和发展建议,对于推动农业缺水地区经济发展和绿色转型具有重要意义。

关中农村婴幼儿辅食添加状况及抚养人KAP问卷调查分析

目的调查分析陕西关中农村地区6~24月龄婴幼儿辅食添加现状以及抚养人关于辅食添加的KAP问卷调查,为制定合理的婴幼儿辅食添加方案以及婴幼儿辅食添加科普教育计划提供科学依据。方法采取随机抽样选取陕西省关中4个县的农村6~24月龄婴幼儿家庭,使用自行设计问卷进行调查,并对数据进行统计分析。结果陕西关中地区农村6~24月龄婴幼儿辅食添加不合理,调查中米面和谷类食物、配方奶粉、蛋类、深色蔬菜、强化铁的添加比例分别为91.46%、75.65%、78.41%、77.32%、54.39%。其中比例最少的是鱼虾类、动物内脏以及豆类。辅食添加时间较晚平均添加时间超过6月龄。该地区婴幼儿抚养人对辅食添加有着积极的态度,但缺乏合理的辅食添加知识,仅有29.2%的抚养人能正确回答婴幼儿的辅食添加时间。结论陕西关中农村地区婴幼儿辅食添加种类不够,添加时间较晚、频率低于推荐频率。主要抚养人缺乏合理的辅食添加方面知识,为陕西省关中地区普及婴幼儿辅食添加相关知识很有必要。

Complementary and alternative medicines in irritable bowel syndrome: An integrative view

Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)is a common gastrointestinal disorder with a high incidence in the general population.The diagnosis of IBS is mainly based on exclusion of other intestinal conditions through the absence of inflammatory markers and specific antigens.The current pharmacological treatment approaches available focus on reducing symptom severity while often limiting quality of life because of significant side effects.This has led to an effectiveness gap for IBS patients that seek further relief to increase their quality of life.Complementary and alternative medicines(CAM)have been associated with a higher degree of symptom management and quality of life in IBS patients.Over the past decade,a number of important clinical trials have shown that specific herbal therapies(peppermint oil and Iberogast?),hypnotherapy,cognitive behavior therapy,acupuncture,and yoga present with improved treatment outcomes in IBS patients.We propose an integrative approach to treating the diverse symptoms of IBS by combining the benefits of and need for pharmacotherapy with known CAM therapies to provide IBS patients with the best treatment outcome achievable.Initial steps in this direction are already being considered with an increasing number of practitioners recommending CAM therapies to their patients if pharmacotherapy alone does not alleviate symptoms sufficiently.

Doctor communication quality and Friends' attitudes influence complementary medicine use in inflammatory bowel disease

AIM: To examine the frequency of regular complementary and alternative therapy(CAM) use in three Australian cohorts of contrasting care setting and geography, and identify independent attitudinal and psychological predictors of CAM use across all cohorts. METHODS: A cross sectional questionnaire was administered to inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) patients in 3 separate cohorts which differed by geographical region and care setting. Demographics and frequency of regular CAM use were assessed, along with attitudes towards IBD medication and psychological parameters such as anxiety, depression, personality traits and quality of life(QOL), and compared across cohorts. Independent attitudinal and psychological predictors of CAM use were determined using binary logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: In 473 respondents(mean age 50.3 years, 60.2% female) regular CAM use was reported by45.4%, and did not vary between cohorts. Only 54.1%of users disclosed CAM use to their doctor. Independent predictors of CAM use which confirm those reported previously were: covert conventional medication dose reduction(P < 0.001), seeking psychological treatment(P < 0.001), adverse effects of conventional medication(P = 0.043), and higher QOL(P < 0.001).Newly identified predictors were CAM use by family or friends(P < 0.001), dissatisfaction with patient-doctor communication(P < 0.001), and lower depression scores(P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: In addition to previously identified predictors of CAM use, these data show that physician attention to communication and the patient-doctor relationship is important as these factors influence CAM use. Patient reluctance to discuss CAM with physicians may promote greater reliance on social contacts to influence CAM decisions.
