The method for generati ng 3D conic edges from 2D projection conic curves is emphasized especially, whic h is the pivotal work for reconstructing curvilinear objects from three orthogra phic views. In order to generate 3D conic edges, a five-point method is firstly utilized to obtain the algebraic representations of all 2D-projection curves i n each view, and then all algebraic forms are converted to the corresponding geo metric forms analytically. Thus the locus of a 3D conic edge can be derived from the geometric forms of the relevant conic curves in three views. Finally, the w ireframe model is created after eliminating all redundant elements generated in previous reconstruction process. The approach extends the range of objects to be reconstructed and imposes no restriction on the axis of the quadric surface.展开更多

In paral- lel to the traditional approach of putting together volumetric primitives with Boolean operations, an al- ternative way of applying the wireframe and skinning techniques is under development. The latter ap- proach is easy to implement, robust and capable of handling the most sophisticated models, while suf- fers the drawbacks of low efficiency in identifying interactively the boundaries of each surface patch when the line segments are interlaced and located close to each other. This paper describes the essentials of the wireframe and skinning techniques which produce the identical product information model as a solid modeler.展开更多

The method is used to extract geometric structure of an internal wireframe model and find out all loop structures of furniture models. The wireframe models are classified as the multiple independent sub-models according to the geometric structure by statistical analysis. The corresponding models are selected from a 3D model database to build an internal scene based on characteristic points of furniture wireframe models. In the experiments 3D database via manually selected 268 3D furniture models from Google 3D warehouse is built up. The experiments show that the method can construct 3D scenes in 1.1×103 ms. This method costs less time compared with traditional hierarchical method and depth-sensing camera method in the same experimental conditions. The method can be also used for 3D visualization either with complex backgrounds.展开更多
