A chain-type WSN is fundamental y ...In order to reduce power consumption of sensor nodes and extend network survival time in the wireless sensor network (WSN), sensor nodes are scheduled in an active or dormant mode. A chain-type WSN is fundamental y different from other types of WSNs, in which the sensor nodes are deployed along elongated geographic areas and form a chain-type network topo-logy structure. This paper investigates the node scheduling prob-lem in the chain-type WSN. Firstly, a node dormant scheduling mode is analyzed theoretical y from geographic coverage, and then three neighboring nodes scheduling criteria are proposed. Sec-ondly, a hybrid coverage scheduling algorithm and dead areas are presented. Final y, node scheduling in mine tunnel WSN with uniform deployment (UD), non-uniform deployment (NUD) and op-timal distribution point spacing (ODS) is simulated. The results show that the node scheduling with UD and NUD, especial y NUD, can effectively extend the network survival time. Therefore, a strat-egy of adding a few mobile nodes which activate the network in dead areas is proposed, which can further extend the network survival time by balancing the energy consumption of nodes.展开更多

This paper proves a theorem which describes the relationship between the placement of beacon nodes and whether the node can be located in 3D indoor environment. In fact, as the highest locating accuracy can be acquired when the beacon nodes form one or more equilateral triangles in 2D plane, we generalizes this conclusion to 3D space, and proposes a beacon nodes selection algorithm based on the minimum condition number to get the higher locating accuracy, which can minimize the influence of distance measurement error. Simulation results show that the algorithm is effective and feasible.展开更多

Thus adversaries can capture some nodes, replicate them and deploy those replicas back into the strategic positions in the network to launch a variety of attacks. These are referred to as node replication attacks. Some methods of defending against node replication attacks have been proposed, yet they are not very suitable for the mobile wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we propose a new protocol to detect the replicas in mobile WSNs. In this protocol, polynomial-based pair-wise key pre-distribution scheme and Counting Bloom Filters are used to guarantee that the replicas can never lie about their real identifiers and collect the number of pair-wise keys established by each sensor node. Replicas are detected by looking at whether the number of pair-wise keys established by them exceeds the threshold. We also derive accurate closed form expression for the expected number of pair-wise keys established by each node, under commonly used random waypoint model. Analyses and simulations verify that the protocol accurately detects the replicas in the mobile WSNs and supports their removal.展开更多
