In patients with pubertal uterine bleeding, ovulation is induced by acupuncture via decrease in central β-endorphin (β-EP) levels, which leads to the cure of anorexia nervosa by acupuncture via decrease in serum cortisol levels in early 1980s. These results in TCM lead to the idea that neuro-endocrine system is directly related to metabolic system which is also proved to be true in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) with or without hyperinsulinemia by two formulas (Yu's Tonifying Ricipe and Tian Gui Recipe,TGR) respectively according to differential diagnosis in TCM. Ovulation resulted with decrease in obesity, acanthosis nigricans, serum androgen, insulin, leptin and hyperthalamic neuropeptide Y (NPY), proopiomalanocortin (POMC) levels based on scientific data from both patients and an animal modal. It suggests that metabolic network, and the incidence of obesity, hypertension, diabetes and cancers of the endometrium and breast may be reduced among patients with PCOS in their future life while these recipes being taken long period. For perimenopausal syndrome, formula Geng Nian Chun (GNC)without increase in serum estrogen levels. In aging rats, it was found that GNC increased the ER and ERmRNA expressions in the ovarian axis and the spleen accompanying with increase in central β-EP, serotonin (5-HT) and peripheral interlutin-2 (IL-2) levels in aging rats without changes of estrogen levels. These data may refer to the release of symptoms in women with postmenopausal syndome. It suggests that GNC up-regulates the fading of neuro-endocrine-immune network. Prevention, alleviation of osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer disease may be expected in aging women with long period taking GNC.展开更多

According to the diversity in history and the state, the process can be divided into a serial of correlated phases, with each phase focusing on different issues. Sexism order in China had remained stable in the traditional society for centuries through a set of institutions. Women had believed in a sexual order and the rules of propriety, which advocated that men were superior to women. After the People’s Republic of China was founded in 1949, women’s rights in politics, economy, society, and even family were recognized and secured by the Constitution and laws just as men’s during a short period. The inseparability of human rights from individual self-identity reveals a contradiction between practicality and historicity in understanding individuals, as highlighted in the debate between liberalism and communitarianism. In order to reconcile this contradiction, Habermas, drawing from German classical philosophy, examines practicality and historicity separately: while Fichte intertwines objectivity in self-identity, revealing the practicality of individuals but neglecting their real elements, Hegel interprets self-identity under the concept of unity, examining individuals from a historical dimension but letting rational rules dominate reality. Ultimately, Habermas reconstructs the process of modern individual self-identity from the theory of communicative action by critiquing the shackles of subjective philosophy. He not only reconciles the divergence between practicality and historicity in self-identity, but also elucidates the intersubjective core inherent in human rights.展开更多

We in this article explore the issue about what subjective-self is composed of. A distinctive feature of "I" is uniqueness or un-duplicableness. By critically reviewing a few thought experiments, we reason that subjective-self must be composed of more than a blob of brain cells which are sophisticated enough to think reflexively and a bundle of memories and perceptions. There must be a third constituent for the existence of "I". We put forward two hypotheses for the third constituent. One is that it is something like dark matters or dark energy. Another is that it is something in the higher dimensional space. A person would lose his self-consciousness after death since the death takes away the two necessary constituents of subjective-self, his brain and memories. Where the third constituent would go after death remains a mystery.展开更多

He has created a lot of great works in his lifetime, and The Sound and the Fury, which becomes the focus of study and research among critics, is one of the outstanding representatives. As a famous southern writer, Faulkner' s concentrations not only just rely on the person' s inner world but also divergence into the broad external space. By observing male' s oppression and destruction toward female, Faulkner elaborates feminine crisis from another angle which reflects his strong humanistic concern. This paper tries to explore women' s images, which include Caddy, little Quentin, Dilsey and Mrs. Comoson. under the traditional patriarchy YoknaDatawoha County.展开更多

A famous example is the Christian Science of Mary Baker EddyBut also less known groups adopted mesmeric ideas and practices. The paper focuses on the concept of"Karezza".It combined a specific sexual practice with religious ideas of divine love, birth control, social reform, women'semancipation and health education. It was created by Alice Bunker Stockham (1833-1912), an obstetrician andgynecologist from Chicago. Among other authorities, the writer Leo Tolstoy and medical psychologist HavelockEllis appreciated her approach. She was a pioneer of the sexual and marriage reform promoting practical advice foreveryday life. As a doctor, she stressed especially the disastrous consequences of a brutal sexual life destroyingbody and mind (not only of the women). As an antidote, she propagated the "Karezza love" avoiding ejaculation ada punctual orgasm (climax) during intercourse. The leading idea was the imagery of a mesmeric "fluidum" unitingindividuals spiritually. Bunker's publications were translated into German. They corresponded to the Lebensreformmovement, but never became popular. Also the early sexology about 1900 ignored Bunker's concept as well as thesexual medicine later on. It is worthwhile to reconsider it within the context of the history of medicine, culture, andanthropology.展开更多

Using an interview study, the author focuses on understanding the students' perspectives in relation to the label of model minority. The purpose of the study is to investigate how social, academic, and economic factors affect these students, including different outcomes in terms of school achievement and self-identity formation. The findings aim to help urban educators approach complex factors regarding minority students' educational opportunities. Comprehensive results identified that: (1) The concept of model minority significantly affects Asian American students at all levels of daily life; (2) Urban schools continue reinforcing social reproduction and producing perceptions based on socioeconomic background and intersectional discrimination; (3) The evidence in the study shows that school environments do not aid students in valuing their cultural capital; (4) Students from different social classes present different linguistic and behavioral patterns; and (5) Social stratification significantly influences students' perspectives in response to the Asian stereotype, self-identity, and racial hierarchy in school and society.展开更多

文摘The year of 2018 marked the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up program. In the wake of 40-year economic development at a great speed, the sharp changes in individual living conditions accompanying urbanization process and the resultant self-identity issues are similar to those situations encountered by Western developed countries in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and are reflected in youth movies with reform and opening-up as the background. Thus, based on the self-identity theory,an interpretation of individual development and dilemma in modern Chinese youth movies not only acts as a theoretical attempt, but also broadens the dimension in which such movies are interpreted, creating the value of interaction with society.Taking the youth movie Us and Them(中文片名:后来的我们)as an example, this paper adopts the semiotic approach for text analysis, and abstracts“young girl”,“Beijing”,“sofa”and other symbols from this movie to form the symbolic interpretation of three channels for building self-identity in modern society.Through“modern-traditional”diversion in terms of three dimensionsin the process of self-identity,this movie is found with trial and effort to describe and heal the self from the perspective of creative mentality, forming a metaphor of the loss and return of self-identity amongmodern Chinese. The outcome of analysis indicates that, when encountering self-identity crisis in modern society, the Chinese masses divert culturally from the modern to the traditional, banking on eliminating self-identity crisis with traditional family identity and family culture, which reflects that the family ethics still maintain core values in the modern Chinese mass culture.

文摘The study aimed to investigate the influence of academic stressors on mental health and the mediating effect of social support and self-identity among college students and further studied the difference between the graduating students and non-graduating students during the COVID-19 Pandemic.Recruiting 900 college students as sub-jects,used the college students’academic stressors questionnaire, social support questionnaire,self-identity scale and depression anxiety stress scales(DASS-21).The results showed that:(1)The college students’academic stressor posi-tively predicted mental health;(2)Social support and self-identity mediated the relationship;(3)The model also held when academic stressors was replaced by work stressor, but there were differences between the graduating and non-graduating students;(4)The direct effect work stressor on mental health in the graduating group was not significant;(5)The non-graduating students’work stressor could not predict mental health through social support.
文摘The kernel of human consciousness is self-consciousness. Where the third constituent would go after death remains a mystery.

文摘Menopausal hormone therapy(MHT)is used to treat menopausal complaints including the genitourinary syndrome of menopause,to prevent osteoporosis, and to treat bleeding problems.Since these can be the indications also in young women, especially with POI(premature ovarian insufficiency)or with surgical menopause(bilateral oophorectomy),also the old term"Hormone Replacement Therapy(HRT)”is still used. The effective component is the estrogen component without relevant difference in the efficacy of the various MHT-preparations.Additional preventive benefits are reduction of cardiovascular disease(including prevention of diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome),reduction of colon cancer, and perhaps also Alzheimer's disease,if started within a Kwindow of opportunity",i.e.in perimenopause or within 6-10 years after menopause.Primary indication for progestogen addition is to avoid the development of estrogen-dependent endometrial cancer,i.e.addition not recommended in hysterectomized women. Two main schedules,sequential-or continuous-combined estrogen/progestogen regimens, are used for treatment of bleeding problems. For this and for optimizing menstrual regulation detailed recommendations are given including proposed dosages for the available different progestogens if added to oral or transdermal estradiol in different estrogen dosages. The WHI-study demonstrated the main risks using MHT within a“worst-case scenario",i.e.start of MHT in old women with high risk for breast cancer and cardiovascular diseases, whereby only^conjugated equine estro-gens”and^medroxprogesterone acetate”have been tested. One main result was that the progestogen component is decisive for the risk of breast cancer, which according to own experimental research and observational studies may be reduced using the physiological progesterone or its isomer dydrogesterone. In addition we propose to push forward research for screening patients with increased breast cancer risk like we have done in the past decade demonstrating that certain membrane-bound receptors in breast cancer tissue or blood can increase this risk.To reduce the risk of venous thromboembolism and stroke, transdermal estradiol(gels, patches,)should be used,in free combination with progesterone or dydrogesterone as"golden standard"in patients with increased risk.To increase the compliance in our patients without special risks we mostly use the available fix-combinations of estradiol/dydrogesterone getting strong efficacy, good menstrual regulation or amenorrhea, respectively, but also other combinations may be indicated to take advantage of for example androgenic or antiandrogenic progestogens.

文摘BACKGROUND Preterm birth(PTB)is one of the main causes of neonatal deaths globally, with approximately 15million infants are born preterm.Women from the Black,Asian, and Minority Ethnic(BAME)populations maybe at higher risk of PTB,therefore, the mental health impact on mothers experiencing a PTB is particularly important, within the BAME populations.AIM To determine the prevalence of mental health conditions among BAME women with PTB as well as the methods of mental health assessments used to characterise the mental health outcomes.METHODS A systematic methodology was developed and published as a protocol in PROSPERO(CRD420-20210863).Multiple databases were used to extract relevant data.I2 and Egger's tests were used to detect the heterogeneity and publication bias.A trim and fill method was used to demonstrate the influence of publication bias and the credibility of conclusions.RESULTS Thirty-nine studies met the eligibility criteria from a possible 3526.The prevalence rates of depression among PTB-BAME mothers were significantly higher than full-term mothers with a standardized mean difference of 1.5 and a 95%confidence interval(CI)29%-74%.The subgroup analysis indicated depressive symptoms to be time sensitive.Women within the very PTB category demonstrated a significantly higher prevalence of depression than those categorised as non-very PTB.The prevalence rates of anxiety and stress among PTB-BAME mothers were significantly higher than in full-term mothers(odds ratio of 88%and 60%with a CI of 42%-149%and 24%-106%,respectively).CONCLUSION BAME women with PTB suffer with mental health conditions. Many studies did not report on specific mental health outcomes for BAME populations. Therefore, the impact of PTB is not accurately represented in this population, and thus could negatively influence the quality of maternity services they receive.
文摘William Faulkner is considered to be the most influential writers of America in the twentieth century. Comoson. under the traditional patriarchy YoknaDatawoha County.
文摘Within the scope of certain social and religious movements, mesmerism had a considerable impact on the Americanway of life during the last decades of 19th century. It is worthwhile to reconsider it within the context of the history of medicine, culture, andanthropology.
文摘The author examines the differentiation of self-identity, school treatment, and academic struggle between two Asian American students in U.S. Midwest urban school environments. Comprehensive results identified that: (1) The concept of model minority significantly affects Asian American students at all levels of daily life; (2) Urban schools continue reinforcing social reproduction and producing perceptions based on socioeconomic background and intersectional discrimination; (3) The evidence in the study shows that school environments do not aid students in valuing their cultural capital; (4) Students from different social classes present different linguistic and behavioral patterns; and (5) Social stratification significantly influences students' perspectives in response to the Asian stereotype, self-identity, and racial hierarchy in school and society.
