The highest occupied molecular orbitals (HO- MOs) in a thick layer of CuPc and FePc lie at 1.04 eV and 0.90 eV, respectively, below the Fermi level of the SLG/Ni substrate. Weak adsorbate-substrate interaction leads to negligible interfacial dipole at the CuPc/SLG/Ni interface, while a large interracial dipole (0.20 eV) was observed in the case of FePc/SLG/Ni interface, due to strong adsorbate-substrate coupling. In addition, a new interfacial electronic feature was observed for the first time in the case of FePc on SLG/Ni substrate. This interfacial state can be attributed to a charge transfer from the SLG/Ni substrate to unoccupied orbitals of FePc.展开更多

Heterojunctions based on ZnO/Cu2O oxides have recently emerged as promising materials for high-efficiency nanostructured devices. In this work, we are interested in the characterization of the surface and interface through nano-scale modeling based on ab initio (Density Functional Theory (DFT), Local Density Approximation (LDA), Generalized Gradient Approximation (GGA-PBE), and Pseudopotential (PP)). This study aims also to build a supercell containing a ZnO/Cu2O heterojunction and study the structural properties and the discontinuity of the valence band (band offset) from a semiconductor to an-other. We investigate crystal terminations of ZnO (0001) and Cu2O (0001). We calculate the energies of the polar surfaces and the work function in the c-axis for both oxides. We built a zinc oxide layer in the wurtzite structure along the [0001] direction, on which we placed a copper oxide layer in the hexagonal structure (CdI2-type). We choose the method of Van de Walle and Martin to calcu-late the energy offset. This approach fits well with the DFT. Our calculations give us a value that corresponds to other experimental and theoretical values.展开更多

And electrode engineering has been a useful method to facilitate carrier extraction or charge collection to enhance organic photovoltaic (OPV) performance. By using self-assembly technique, we have deposited poly(dimethyl diallylammonium chloride) (PDDA) layers onto ITO coated glass substrates. The results indicate that the surface WF of ITO is reduced by about 0.3 eV after PDDA modification, which is attributed to the modulation in electron affinity. In addition, the surface roughness of ITO substrate became smaller after PDDA modification. These modified ITO substrates can be applied to fabricate inverted OPVs, in which ITO works as the cathode to collect electrons. As a result, the photovoltaic performance of inverted OPV is substantially improved, mainly reflecting on the increase of short circuit current density.展开更多
