The Dilemma and Way Out of China’s Participation in the Development of Marine Genetic Resources in ABNJ from the Perspective of BBNJ

The fifth intergovernmental negotiations on marine BBNJ(Biodiversity beyond Areas of National Jurisdiction)concluded in August 2022,in which there are still major differences regarding access to marine genetic resources,management,and technology transfer.China’s participation in the development of marine genetic resources in ABNJ(areas beyond national jurisdiction)has many dilemmas,which are linked to the difficulties faced in advancing the BBNJ negotiations.The following countermeasures are proposed at the institutional and practical levels respectively:clarifying the legal attributes and applicability of the principles of marine genetic resources;establishing mechanisms for access,management,environmental impact assessment and benefit sharing of marine genetic resources;and using the“Blue Partnership”to build a governance mechanism for marine genetic resources to achieve mutual benefits.

Linking Perceived Risk of Public Health Emergency to Psychological Distress among Chinese College Students: The Chain Mediation Role of Balanced Time Perspective and Negative Coping Styles

Background:With public health emergencies(PHE)worldwide increasing,the perceived risk of PHE has been one of the critical factors influencing college students’psychological distress.However,the mechanisms by which the perceived risk of PHE affects college students’psychological distress are not clear.The study’s purpose was to investigate the mediation roles of deviation from a balanced time perspective(DBTP)and negative coping styles between the perceived risk of PHE and psychological distress.Methods:A convenience sampling method was used to survey 1054 Chinese college students with self-reporting.Data was collected using the Public Risk Perception Scale(PRPS),the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory(ZTPI),the Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ),the PHE Anxiety Scale,and the Chinese version of the Patient Health Questionnaire(PHQ).The associations between the perceived risk of PHE,DBTP,negative coping styles,and psychological distress were clarified using the correlation analysis.Additionally,the mediating roles of DBTP and negative coping styles between the perceived risk of PHE and psychological distress were investigated using a structural equation model.Results:The findings revealed low to moderate correlations between the variables studied.Students’perceived risk of PHE was a positive predictor of their psychological distress(b=0.219,p<0.01).DBTP and negative coping styles played chain mediation roles between them with the effect being 0.009 and a 95%Boot CI of[0.003,0.023].This chain mediation model had an excellent fit index(χ^(2)/df=4.732,CFI=0.973,TLI=0.930,RMSEA=0.048,SRMR=0.047).Conclusion:These findings showed how the perceived risk of PHE affected college students’psychological distress.Specifically,these results suggested that improving students’mental ability to switch effectively among different time perspectives depending on task features and situational considerations and reducing their negative coping styles might be effective ways to promote their mental health.

How Unique is ′China Model′: A Review of Theoretical Perspectives on China′s Urbanization in Anglophone Literature

As a major aspect of the ′China Model′, urbanization in China is being heatedly discussed in the Anglophone literature in the last two decades. By considering China′s urbanization as a ′testing ground′ of ′western′ theories, these studies are important for the understanding of China′s ongoing urban restructuring and exchanging knowledge with ′western′ insights. Based on a survey of existing studies, this paper identifies various endogenous and exogenous concepts and explanations of China′s urbanization. It is suggested that China′s urbanization is mainly driven by a combination of political decentralization and neoliberalization with various forms of social stratification and mobility. However, it is argued that the distinctness of the ′China Model′, which is usually used to support the legitimacy of studies of China′s urbanization, has led to many controversial arguments and diminished the due contributions of Chinese scholars in the knowledge production of China′s urbanization. To consolidate the legitimacy of studies on China′s urbanization and enhance the roles of Chinese scholars, we suggest future studies to pay more attentions to the fundamental theories with looser constraints and ′true questions′ on China′s urbanization.

The World＇s Largest Conglomerate Type Oilfield Has Been Discovered in the Junggar Basin of China

The Junggar Basin in the northern part of Xinjiang is the second largest inland basin in China. It is located between the Altai and Tianshan Mountains, which is bounded by the Junggar bounded Mountain in the northwest, the Altai Mountains in the northeast and the North Tianshan Mountains in the south. It belongs to a triangular close inland basin, and extends 700 km in EW and 370 km in NS, covering an area of 38x104 km2. The elevation is about 400 m, high in the east （about 1000 m） and low in the west. The central basin is the Guerbantonggute desert, which accounts for 36.9% of the total basin area.

Clinical Biobanks, from the World to China

The 2009 annual special issue of Time Magazine on March 23rd summarized the ＇10 Ideas Changing the World Right Now＇, in which ＇Biobank＇ had been listed as the eighth. Biobank or biorepository has been developed since last century. Tissue banks represented the early type of clinical biobanks and mainly concentrated on clinical usage such as transplantation at the beginning. The first tissue bank in the United States started in 1949 is the United States Navy Tissue Bank. In 1976, the foundation of American Association of Tissue Banks （AATB） claimed the official show of biobanks on social stage （www.aatb.org）. From the end of 20th Century to the beginning of 21st Century, diverse biobanks of clinical samples, seed banks, gene banks, germplasm banks of non-human species and other various types have sprung up.

ON THE AVERAGE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF GRANITOIDS IN CHINA AND THE WORLD

As based on the background of the world’sgranitoids, the regional characteristics of China,s granitoids are rich in the contents of silica, soda and potash.

Perceiving China's Energy Development from the World Key Energy Statistics

As the world's authoritative organization on energy information, the International Energy Agency (IEA), which was founded in 1974, releases Key World Energy Statistics every year from 1997 (hereinafter referred to as the "Key Data"). China's Technologies for Exploration and Mining of Uranium Deposits Have Stepped into the World's Top Team

On June 2011, the Beijing Research Institute of Uranium Geology, an Institute within the China National Nuclear Corporation （CNNC）, and the Department of Geology ＆ Mining CNNC carried out a project Scientific Drilling.for Deep Metallogenic Research in the Xiangshan Large Uranium Ore Field. A year later on June 21, the project, representing the first scientific drilling of China＇s uranium, was officially launched, and successfully completed on June 17, 2013. Studies of world carbon fiber industry from a perspective of patent analysis

Patents are the manifestation of the industry R&D endeavor; therefore,World carbon fiber industry from the perspective of patent analysis is studied. Findings from the analysis show a continual increase of carbon fibers patents since 1969,and the growth rate began even faster after the year of 2005. Five countries( Japan,China,US,Germany and Korea) took dominant positions in global carbon fibers R&D,and the sum of patents applied in these five countries accounted for 80% of the total patents in the world. Corporations do play an active role in global carbon fibers R&D,and over 60% of patents were applied by corporations. Among them,the top 3 corporations were all from Japan,which had much more patents than the other patent assignees. Furthermore,most corporations were not active in cooperation with others,except Toyota Motor Corp. Global carbon fibers R&D focused on sheet manufacture cloth,core wire layer,heat connect provide and filter activated draw.And there is big difference between Japan and China in the R&D focus. China's corporations have exhibited rapid growth in the number of patent applications in recent years,but there is still a large gap between China and foreign countries in view of global patent layout and influence. By providing the insight into the evolution of global carbon fibers industrial and technological development through the perspective of patent analysis,this study hopes to provide an objective statistic reference for future policy directions and academic researches.
