Peter Newmark’s semantic translation and communicative translation theories play a guiding role in translation practice.Translating long and difficult English sentences into Chinese has been a focus of study among translators.The paper explores how to translate long and difficult journalistic English sentences into Chinese from the perspective of semantic translation and communicative translation theories,advancing four effective translating strategies for handling long and difficult journalistic English sentences:sequential translation,splitting translation,reversing translation,and recasting translation,so as to improve the readability and faithfulness of the Chinese version.

On the Brief Analysis of the Writing Styles of Mao Tse-tung＇s Poetry

The paper briefly studies the writing styles of Mao's poetry, such as epic and lyric tints. It also analyzes some skills of translation employed by translators both home and abroad on some fuzzy numerals, such as literal translation, omission, addition and reduction.

大学英语教学中翻译写作教学模式的有效性——基于CET翻译题成绩的初步实验研究

当前,大学英语四、六级考试汉译英主题倾向于中国文化相关,成为应考难点之一。将翻译写作教学模式运用至大学英语教学,特别是针对CET翻译题型的教学,或能有效应对这一难点。根据一项于独立学院选取非英语专业英语水平相近的两个自然班展开的初步对比实验研究发现,对比实验B班,实验A班采纳翻译写作教学模式,通过句法分析训练、写作与背诵训练、中英语序转换训练、拆句与组句训练,一定程度上消除了应考畏难感,CET4模考成绩较有明显提高,翻译能力有所提升。这一研究结果对大学英语翻译与写作教学均有一定指导意义,扩展了翻译写作学理论的应用范围与研究视野。

翻译写作学视域下政治文献中国特色词汇英译探析——以《习近平谈治国理政》英文版为例

汉英两种语言的巨大差异,加上不同的社会文化背景,使得如何正确英译政治文献中的中国特色词汇成为无法避免的难题之一。以“直译与意译”“异化与归化”为代表的翻译方法与策略未能在翻译实践中将语言层面的操作与文化层面的取向统一起来。翻译写作学将翻译原则与方法进行梳理,提出“直译、意译、归译”三分法,并修正长期以来对“意译”的误解,将翻译中语言与文化的操作进行统一,既简化了翻译原则,又为同一原文衍生出多种不同译文提供了合理解释的依据,有助于更好地理解翻译效果,从而采用合适的翻译策略。

基于技术写作原则的技术文档应用翻译探析——以芯片行业的技术文档为例

随着各国信息技术交流的进一步升级,技术文档本地化与全球化的优质实现成为国与国之间技术传播的保障。相比国外成熟先进的技术文档写作体系,我国的技术文档标准体系发展较为滞后。文章将从技术文档的写作原则出发,对国外某芯片公司技术手册的双语平行文本进行分析,并基于技术写作的三大原则优化相关技术文档的译本。经分析证明,此类技术文档的译本具有一定的改善空间,技术写作原则可对相关技术文档应用翻译实践起到一定的指导作用。技术译者要不断向技术作者靠拢,以“为写作而翻译”的原则进行翻译实践活动。

论翻译写作学视角下文学的翻译感知--以部分中国文学外译为例

以翻译写作学为视角,剖析文学翻译的感知过程,提出译者可以通过阅读感知、实境感知、视听感知、仿写感知来全面并深刻地理解原文及原文作者的意旨,才能更好地运思、表述译文,传达文化。这一研究明确文学翻译思路,深化翻译写作感知研究。文中提出的仿写感知与写作感知更有关联,丰富并拓展了翻译写作学的理论,对新形势下国内文学作品外译与译者翻译能力培养有指导意义。

《中国文学艺术精华》:“异语书写”与“无本回译”

20世纪70年代末,刘若愚在美国出版了Essentials of Chinese Literary Art(《中国文学艺术精华》)。此书秉持“纯文学观”,采用文体分类的编写体例,全面、概括地介绍了从《诗经》直至20世纪70年代的中国文学(含台湾地区文学),在中国文学史“异语书写”的链条上成为关键的一环。刘若愚在编写中国文学史时,充分考虑西方读者的接受情况,对文学经典的选择与国内同中有异,采用中西文学比较法,达到了向西方读者传播中国文学的目的。中文本译者在“无本回译”时既有得当的处理,也出现了一些错误和遗漏。

A Contrastive Study of Self-Sourced Reporting Sentence Stems in English and Chinese Journal Articles

Self-representation has been widely established as a linguistic strategy to construct authority for better acceptance in academic writing.Self-sourced reporting sentence stems refer to the recurrent pre-constructed clausal semi-fixed sequences that perform the function of elaboration of the author’s argument.The present study adopts the Idiom Principle and conducts contrastive phraseological studies on the form and functions of self-sourced reporting sentence stems using comparable and parallel corpora.The study shows that(a)there exist in journal articles bountiful self-sourced reporting sentence stems;(b)sentence stems are the integration of meaning and form,and can be regarded as units of equivalence;and(c)self-sourced reporting acts are significantly different between English and Chinese academic cultures.The findings of this study could provide suggestions for teaching of academic writing,as well as translation practices.

Laifong Leung,based on the literature and materials from Chinese,English and Japanese,by using empirical approach and closing reading,produced Chinese-English combined version A Study of Liu Yong and His Lyrics.The work mainly probes into Liu Yong’s life story and closely analyzes the characteristics of his lyrics in the way of tune titles,thematic matters,images and diction,rhythm and structure,and his contributions to the establishment of Ci genre are dealt with.Therefore,it is rewarding to promote academic exchange and disseminate classical Chinese literature,and it is pioneering to provide a new angle in the study of Liu Yong and his lyrics by using quantitative analysis.

Her response:our present is the future perfect of semiotics.The problem is not simply of the theoretical order,given that semiotics is also implicated as semeiotics,as symtomatology.The relation between semiotics and the question of the health of life at the planetary level is not only of the historical order,ensuing from the connection of semiotics today with medical semeiotics,symptomatology,beginning with Hippocrates and Galen.The human being as a "semiotic animal"is the only animal responsible for semiosis,for life,even more so the professional scholar of signs.

A Contrastive Analysis of the Three English Versions of the Moonlight over the Lotus Pond from the perspective of Aesthetic Effect in Image

Translation and aesthetic are invariably closely related topics since the ancient time.Liu Miqing said, " aesthetic is a task that ' can't steer away' in the Chinese translation theory,just like our translation can't steer away from Chinese."(2005) In the Chinese literature,Moonlight over the Lotus Pond is like a pearl in the elaborate works.This thesis is to make a comparison of the three English translations of Moonlight over the Lotus Pond from the perspective of aesthetic translation.It grasps the essence of mechanisms of translation on the basis of modern aesthetic principles.Also,there will be a brief analysis of the techniques in the aesthetic translation,i.e.the aesthetic effect in phonology and rhythm,artistic conception,creative translation,parallelism and conciseness.In this thesis the translations from Zhu Chunshen,Wang Jiaosheng,Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang are chosen to analyze the techniques in translating prose,in recreating the aesthetic effect,by which a conclusion about the factors of context,artistic conception and technique of writing is made.

在翻译中翻译:清末口译—笔述式翻译模式中的译者关系研究

作为“西学东渐”和晚清翻译史上最为重要的翻译方式之一,口译—笔述式翻译模式,最初主要以外来口译者与本土笔述者之间的双边协作方式展开。这种方式,一方面历史地反映出这一翻译模式在晚清翻译实践中的具体运作形态,另一方面亦反映出此间中西跨语际、跨文化交流的日常展开方式。而这种翻译模式或翻译实践方式中的外来口译者与本土笔述者之间的关系,实际上亦形成了一种“在翻译中翻译”的翻译形式,其中口译者的“意译”或“口译”,都需要笔述者的“意会”与“言传”来得以转换落实。而无论是“意会”还是“言传”,又都关涉着或者受制于笔述者与口译者之间的关系。而对于这种关系的考察,亦就是对晚清翻译中最为重要的一种翻译方式的考察。

翻译驱动的研究生英语学术写作教学实证研究

科技交流日益国际化,培养非英语专业硕士研究生的英语学术写作能力迫在眉睫。文章以山西医科大学一年级硕士研究生为授课对象,开设医学英语翻译与写作选修课程。2019年课程正式开设以来,已进行三轮六次实践教学。三年来,课程团队积极探索,不断提升课程质量,选修课的人数从51人增加到292人。课程实践表明,结合专业领域,开展翻译驱动的研究生英语学术写作教学,对于培养研究生的英语学术写作能力具有重要意义。该实证研究如实反映教学情况,为同类课程提供参考,为普通高校非英语专业研究生英语学术写作能力的培养路径提供新思路。

中国文学外译中地域性书写的认知重构——以雪漠短篇小说《新疆爷》英译为例

地域性书写是中国文学“中国性”身份的重要标识,如何在中国文学外译中实现地域性书写的认知重构,在世界文学的大家族中彰显中国文学的“中国性”,是中国文学走出去的重要课题之一。语言认知视角下的认知翻译研究,关注译者跨文化文本构建中的认知调试和文本重建,为研究中国文学地域性书写的翻译提供了视角。以雪漠短篇小说《新疆爷》英译为例,以认知翻译学为理论框架,分析其间地域性书写的认知重构。译者通过范畴介入与认知补缺来实现地域性实物的认知重构;通过认知经验的粒度调整来实现人物感官体验的认知重构;通过具体化引申来实现人物个性化语言的认知重构。译者在跨文化转化中国文学地域性书写时的认知转换机理及文本层面的认知重构策略,对中国文学外译实践和研究均有一定启示。
