Students often feel puzzled about how to generate good ideas on an essay topic. This paper explores several pre-writing activities as a solution to such a problem. Compared with the traditional teaching pattern, these effective ways have the following advantages: (1) They help students stimulate thoughts for getting started and make writing easier; (2) They help students remove the mental block and distraction that prevent ideas from coming out; (3) They help students write in a more motivating and stimulating way instead of pondering over an essay topic alone; (4) They help create a cooperative and enjoyable atmosphere in the writing class. 展开更多

This paper adopts a pedagogical approach to theteaching of English writing to EFL learners of interme-diate or advanced level in China. The teaching ofwriting has been a problem to Chinese EFL teachers fora long time.On the one hand, they want to make anattempt to adopt fashionable and effective Englishwriting approaches, like process writing. On the otherhand, they are frustrated by the traditional Chinesewriting method. Some of our language educators arealways struggling against the influence of our tradi-tional Chinese writing method.A negative attitudetowards our mother tongue writing approach has beenestablished or accepted by most of our EFL teachers, which result in the EFL learners’panic in their Eng-lish writing course because they are afraid of being ac-cused of writing a Chinese composition in Englishwords.Needless to say, this kind of teaching stylecannot be effective and is frustrating instead. The au-thor presents an integrated and practical solution tothis problem and discusses the applicability of the ap-proach.The author discusses how we can effectivelyintegrate the traditional Chinese writing method andthe popular process writing approach in teaching Eng-lish writing. 展开更多

The emergence of online literature has changed not only the ecology of literary composition and the form of existence of literary texts, but also the modes of dissemination, interpretation and criticism of literature. It also substantially challenges the survival and development of traditional literature. In the course of its development over the past decade, four obvious problems have been highlighted in practice and theoretical research: simple equation of the technological features of the Internet with the features of online literature, misconceptions about online literature, inability to distinguish between the basic traits of online and traditional writing and inability to understand the fundamental theoretical differences between online literary texts and traditional literature. 展开更多
