These services are now rapidly being lost, not least because of the inability of making the impacts measurable. To overcome this obstacle, assessment frameworks for freshwater ecosystem services are needed. A simple water equivalent framework to assess the ecological services provided by freshwater ecosystems was developed in this study. It translated the occupation of freshwater ecosystem services into biologically freshwater volumes and then compares this consumption to the freshwater throughput, that is, the ecological capacity available in this region. In this way, we use the example of Yangzhou Prefecture, to account the main categories of human occupation of water ecosystem services. The result showed that there is a huge gap between the consumption and the supply of freshwater ecosystem services. This must encourage local government to make land-use and water management decisions both economically rational and environmentally sound.展开更多

Plant furnishings and their combinations with rockeries were analyzed, for example, plants can be applied as the background to support the rockeries; closely combined with rockeries to form the principal scenery; applied as decorations to supplement rockeries; applied as the foreground to enrich landscape layer. Characteristics of plant and rockeries landscaping were analyzed, and it was proposed that rockeries landscaping was combined with cultural characteristics of plants, focused on diversity of plant furnishings and also combination of plant figures and appreciation perspectives, and valued growth habits of plants. On this basis, relevant suggestions were given for the construction of rockeries in Yangzhou gardens.展开更多

However, the vast majority of researches of urban growth have focused on the planar area(two-dimensional(2D)) expansion. Few studies have been conducted from a 3D perspective. In this paper, the 3D urban expansion of the Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China from 2003 to 2012 was evaluated based on Geographical Information System(GIS) tools and high-resolution remote sensing images. Four indices, namely weighted average height of buildings, volume of buildings, 3D expansion intensity and 3D fractal dimension are used to quantify the 3D urban expansion. The weighted average height of buildings and the volume of buildings are used to illustrate the temporal change of the 3D urban morphology, while the other two indices are used to calculate the expansion intensity and the fractal dimension of the 3D urban morphology. The results show that the spatial distribution of the high-rise buildings in Yangzhou has significantly spread and the utilization of the 3D space of Yangzhou has become more efficient and intensive. The methods proposed in this paper laid a foundation for a wide range of study of 3D urban morphology changes.展开更多

Two hundred and forty 21-day-old healthy male geese with similar body weight were randomly distributed into 4 groups with 6 replicates per group and 10 geese per replicate. Geese in the control group were fed a basal diet and the others in the experimental groups(groups 1,2, and 3) were fed experimental diets supplemented with 150, 300 and 450 mg/kg alfalfa flavonoids extraction(the concentration of it was 81%), respectively. The experiment had 7 days for pre-test and 42 days for formal test. The results showed that the final body weight and average daily intake of group 2 were significantly higher than those of other groups(P < 0.05). The average daily gain of group 2 was significantly higher than that in the control group and group 1(P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in feed-to-gain ratio between each group(P > 0.05). Pre-slaughter live weight, carcass weight, slaughter rate, semieviscerated weight, semi-eviscerated rate, eviscerated weight, eviscerated rate, leg muscle weight and leg muscle rate had no significant difference between each group(P > 0.05). The breast muscle weight and ratio of each test group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P < 0.05) and the group2 was the best. The abdominal fat weight and ratio in the group 1 were significantly higher than those in the control group and group 3(P < 0.05) and the tibia weight in the group 2 was significantly higher than that in the control group and group 1(P < 0.05); There were no significant differences in heart weight, liver weight and the gland stomach weight among all groups(P > 0.05). Spleen weight in test groups was significantly higher than that in the control group(P < 0.05). The bursa weight and muscular stomach weight in the group 2 were significantly higher than those in the control group and group 1(P < 0.05). In serum, total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein and urea nitrogen in the group 2 were significantly lower comparing with those in the control group(P < 0.05). High-density lipoprotein in the group 2 was significantly higher than that in other groups(P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in total serum protein, albumin, globulin and albumin/globulin among all groups(P > 0.05). Alanine aminotransferase and aspartate transaminase(AST) in groups 2 and 3 were higher than those in the group1 and control group but not obvious(P > 0.05) and alkaline phosphatase(ALP) in groups 1 and 2 was higher than that in the control group and group 3(P > 0.05). It is concluded that alfalfa flavonoids extraction added in dietary feed improve the growth performance, organ development and blood biochemical indexes of Yangzhou geese. It is concluded that 300 mg/kg supplemental level of the dietary alfalfa flavonoids extraction is optimal in this experiment.展开更多

Then the influence of the natural landscape and environment on prices of global housing market and housing submarkets was evaluated by the hedonic price model. The results are shown as follows. (1) There have been increasing gaps among housing prices since 2001. In this period, the differentiation trend has shown an upward fluctuation, which has been coupled with the annual growth rate of housing prices. (2) The spatial distribution of residential quarters of homogenous prices has changed from clustered in 2001 into dispersed in 2012. (3) Natural landscape and environmental externalities clearly influence spatial differentiation of housing prices. (4) In different housing submarkets, the influence of natural landscape and environmental eternalities are varied. Natural landscape characteristics have significant impact on housing prices of ordinary commercial houses and indemnificatory houses, while the impact of environmental characteristics have obvious influence on housing prices of cottages and villas.展开更多

The experiment results showed: (ⅰ) not only ~1O_2, but also free radicals(O_2· OH and YHPD)can be formed by the aid of YHPD; and (ⅱ) as to the ability of producing ~1O_2, YHPD<BHPD, while for generating O_2 and-OH, YHPD>BHPD. Two points are indicated: first, the photosensitized damage of YHPD is interrelated to not only ~1O_2, but also free radicals (O_2. OH and YHPD); second, although the photosensitized damage of YHPD is stronger than that of BHPD, yet the photosensitized damage is negatively correlated to the yield of ~1O_2 but positively correlated to those of O_2 and OH. Based on these two points, it is suggested that activated oxygen free radicals(O_2 and. OH) instead of ~1O_2 play the main role as instantaneously activated material in the photosensitized damage of YHPD.展开更多
