The Late Paleozoic and Mesozoic tectonic framework of the Nanpanjiang Basin has much been disputed.Herein, the middle-acid volcanic rock, dacite, exposed to the Zhesang gold district, southeast Yunnan Province, has been analyzed. The results show that the dacite belongs to a calc-alkaline series,SiO_(2)contents range from 62.79 to 76.66 wt%.Zircon SHRIMP U–Pb dating of dacite demonstrates that they were formed in the Early Triassic(247.8±1.7 Ma,MSWD=1.2).All samples exhibit enrichment in LILE(e.g.Rb,K,Th,and U),and depletion in HFSE(e.g.Nb,Ta,and Ti),which has the geochemical affinity of I-type granite.La–La/Sm and La–La/Yb discrimination diagrams show that the partial melting, mainly of the mafic lower crust,of rocks, plays a major role in the formation process. The dacite has low initial ^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios(0.706954 to 0.708589)and negative ε_(Nd)(t)values(-11.77 to-10.88).Zircons in dacite have ε_(Hf)(t)values of-16.2 to-8.3,and the two-stage Hf model ages are 1799–2301 Ma,mostly concentrated between 1800 and 1900 Ma,indicating that the magma source area is the reconstructed ancient lower crust mixed with some mantle materials, and crystal fractionation process underwent in the late stage of magma migration. This study reveals that the arc-volcanic rocks of the Early Triassic in the southern margin of the Nanpanjiang Basin were formed by the subduction of the Late Paleozoic ocean basin within the border region between China and Vietnam. 展开更多

Despite the presence of a large area of andesite in the Sayaburi Province of Laos, it has received very little attention. Based on a combination of detailed field investigations, geochronology and geochemical analysis, this study aims to explore the geochemical, Sr-Nd isotopic, and source rock characteristics, as well as the genesis and tectonic setting of the andesite in this region. In the Sayaburi Province, the andesite zircon U-Pb age is(241.2±1.2) Ma. The andesite rock is classified in the metaluminous-weak peraluminous calc-alkaline series. The light rare-earth elements(LREEs) are enriched and characterized by clear fractionation, whereas heavy rare-earth elements(HREEs) are relatively depleted and have no signs of fractionation. The average δEu is 0.96 with weak-or-no Eu anomalies. It is enriched in large ion lithophile elements such as Rb and K, while depleted in high field-strength elements such as Nb, Ta, P and Ti. For andesites in the Sayaburi Province, the(87Rb/86Sr)t value ranges in 0.702849-0.704687, the εNd(t) value is between 3.53 and 4.77, the tDM(t) value ranges in 633-835 Ma, and the tDM2(t) ranges in 625–724 Ma. The results based on the synthesis of petrology, geochemistry, and regional tectonic background studies show that 1) the andesitic magma source in the study area is an enriched mantle, which is modified by subduction zone fluids;2) the geotectonic background environment of the andesite in Sayaburi area is the continental island arc environment and related to the tectonic evolution of Jinghong–Nan–Uttaradit back-arc basin, which reflects that the magmatic source is enriched with a mantle wedge component modified by a subduction zone fluid(or melt). 展开更多

The Sandaowanzi gold deposit is an extremely Au-rich deposit in the Northern Great Hinggan Range in recent years.Zircon U-Pb geochronology,Hf isotope analysis, and the geochemistry of andesites of the Longjiang Formation from the Sandaowanzi gold deposit were used to investigate the origin, magmatic evolution as well as mineralization and tectonic setting of the Early Cretaceous epithermal gold deposits in the northern Great Hinggan Range area.Zircon U-Pb dating reveals an emplacement age of 123.4±0.3 Ma,indicating that the andesites of the Sandaowanzi gold deposit was formed during the Early Cretaceous. The andesites are enriched in light rare earth elements relative to heavy rare earth elements and have weak negative Eu anomalies(δEu=0.76-0.90).The rocks are also enriched in large-ion lithophile elements, such as Rb,Ba,Th,U,and K,and depleted in the high-field-strength elements, such as Nb,Ta,and P.These characteristics are typical of volcanic rocks related to subduction.Igneous zircons from the andesite samples have relatively homogeneous Hf isotope ratios,176Hf/177Hf values of 0.282343-0.282502,εHf(t)values of-12.58 to-6.95,and two-stage model ages(TDM2)of 1743-1431 Ma.The characteristics of the andesites of the Longjiang Formation are consistent with derivation from partial melting of enriched mantle wedge metasomatized by subducted-slab-derived fluids. These rocks formed in an extensional environment associated with the closure of the Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean and subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Plate.Mineralization occurred towards the end of volcanism, and the magmatic activity and mineralization are products of the same geodynamic setting. 展开更多

A systematic study combining U-Pb zircon dating, lithogeochemical and Sr-Nd isotopic analyses was carried out upon the Xinping granodiorite porphyry in the Dayaoshan metallogenic belt to understand its petrogenesis and tectonic significance.LA-ICP-MS U-Pb zircon dating yielded a 442.7±5.8 Ma age, indicating that the granodiorite porphyry was emplaced during the Llandovery Silurian of the Early Paleozoic. The granodiorite porphyry shares the same geochemical characteristics such as Eu negative anomaly as other syn-tectonic granite plutons in the region, including the granodiorite porphyry in Dawangding and granite porphyries in the Dali Cu-Mo deposit and Longtoushang old deposit, indicating a similar magma evolution process. The Xinping granodiorite porphyry has high contents of SiO2(67.871.8%)and K2O(1.78-3.42%)and is metaluminous-peraluminous with A/CNK ratios ranging from 0.97 to 1.06,indicative of high-potassium calc-alkaline to calc-alkaline affinity. It is a I-type granite enriched in large ion lithophile elements Rb,Sr,while depleted in Ba and high field-strength element Nb.Tectonically,a collision between the Yunkai Block from the south and the Guangxi Yunnan-North Vietnam Block from the north during the Early Paleozoic was followed by uplifting of the Dayaoshan terrane. The Xinping granodiorite porphyry was likely emplaced during the collision.Sr-Nd isotopic analyses show that the granodiorite porphyry has initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios(Isr)of 0.7080-0.7104,εNd(t)range from-0.08 to-4.09,and t2DM between 1.19 and 1.51 Ga,well within the north-east low-value zone of the Cathaysia block, indicating a Paleoproterozoic Cathaysia basement source and an involvement of under plating mantle magma.Field observations, geochronological data, and 3D spatial distribution all lead to the conclusion that the Early Paleozoic Xinping granodiorite porphyry does not have any metallogenic and temporal relationships with the Xinping gold deposit(which has a Jurassic-Early Cretaceous age based on previous studies)but a close metallogenic relation to W-Mo mineralization. 展开更多

The basement granite gneisses from the north-central Aravalli Craton in NW India were investigated for geochemistry and geochronology. In a peneplain terrain, the granite gneiss outcrops are scanty and samples were collected mainly from two small hills and several ground-level exposures in the Sakhun–Ladera region.Wellfoliated granite gneiss is the dominant lithology that also hosts dark, lenticular enclaves, and is in turn, intruded by mafic dykes. The granite gneiss has silica content ranging from 61.37 wt.%to 68.27 wt.%that marks a slight overlap with the enclaves(54.32wt.%to 62.17wt.%).Both groups have a highK2O/Na2O(~2 or higher)ratio.Geochemically, the granite gneiss classify as granite–granodiorite, and enclaves as granodiorite-diorite.The In-situ LA-ICP-MS zircon U–Pb geochronology of granite gneiss has yielded a statistically valid 1721±9 Ma age that we interpret as the emplacement age for the granitic protolith.Geochemical characteristics of granite gneiss underline fractional crystallization of an I-type melt as themain process, and continuity of trends in enclaves underlines their mutual genetic link. The genetic association is further verified by a consistency in the trace element characteristics and REE patterns. The Nd-isotope signatures define a single grouping for both granite gneiss and enclaves, withεNd(t)values ranging from−6.38 to−6.61,further substantiating a common source. The geochemical tectonic discrimination schemes consistently point toward an extensional setting and A-type characteristics for granite gneiss and enclaves. These are analogous to the coeval(1.72–1.75 Ga),A-type granitoids from the Khetri and Alwar basin in the North Delhi Fold Belt, implying a much larger areal extent for the Paleoproterozoic anorogenic magmatism in the northern segment of the Aravalli Craton. The Paleoproterozoic age for the presumed‘Archean’basement in this region offers tacit evidence that the BGC–II is a stratigraphically younger terrane as compared to the Archean age,BGC–I. 展开更多

Middle-lower crust and mantle rocks are generally widely exposed in metamorphic core complex or gneiss dome, which is an ideal place to study the exhumation process related to regional extension and rheology. The Laojunshan metamorphic complex in southeastern Yunnan is located in a special tectonic position surrounded by the Cathaysia,Yangtze and Indochina blocks. It is composed of different metamorphic-deformation rocks and granitic intrusions. There also are many economic deposits(e.g.,tin and tungsten)that are spatially and genetically associated with the formation and exhumation of the Laojunshan gneiss dome.Based on detailed analysis of macro-and microscopic structure, stress field distribution and deformation condition, the tectonic units of the Laojunshan metamorphic complex show obvious characteristics of doming,as well as of typical structural units of metamorphic core complex. It has strongly deformed metamorphic gneiss core(footwall),detachment fault system and sedimentary cover(hanging wall)with lightly metamorphism and deformation. The footwall of gneiss dome presents a strongly ductile deformation domain, accompanied by different ages of granitic intrusions. The distribution of developed foliation and lineation within granitic gneisses are arc-shaped and radial, respectively, with a nearly N-S trending from the footwall to the hanging wall.Mylonitization of deformed rocks gradually weakens and transits to orthogneiss as it moves away from the detachment fault toward the footwall. The low angle detachment fault between the footwall and the hanging wall shows an arc-like shape feature.Mylonite fabrics are preserved in the deformed rocks of the detachment fault, which are mainly composed of chloritized schist, fault breccia, cataclasite and fault gouge.A large number of normal faults are developed in detachment faults and hanging wall, and their stress fields radiate in an arc around the footwall.Zircon U-Pb ages of amphibolite and granitic gneiss from the footwall range from 445 to 420 Ma,indicating the timing of Caledonian magmatic emplacement and the main formation period of the Laojunshan gneiss dome.U-Pb ages of the zircon metamorphic rims are 241-230 Ma,representing the timing of high temperature metamorphism and shortened deformation of the Indosinian collision. In this period, the Laojunshan gneiss dome experienced the tectonic compression in association with high temperature metamorphism-deformation,which was superimposed by detachment and extensional exhumation in association with intense hydrothermal interaction and mineralization in the late stage. 展开更多
