The results indicate that the carbide morphology in modified cast steel is characterized by uniformly-distributed granular carbide, which is different from that of conventional cast steel, but similar to that of forged steel. the impact toughness of modified cast steel is distinctly increased to 12.75 J/cm2 from 6.8 J/cm2 in the conventional cast steel with networked carbide, because of carbide granulation. Furthermore, The fracture toughness and fatigue-crack-propagation threshold of modified cast steel are not only higher than that of the conventional cast steel, but also higher than that of the forged steels.展开更多

The corrosion resistance of mixed REM conversion coating was examined by using weight loss test and electrochemical method. The results show that the mixed REM conversion coating increases the corrosion resistance of the alloy surface. Examination result of scanning electron microscope (SEM) shows that the coating exhibits honeycomb-like feature. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis reveals that the coating is amorphous. The result of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) indicates that mixed REM conversion coating consists predominantly of Ce and O. The contents of other rare earth elements (La, Pr) are relatively low.展开更多
