Archaeological survey shows that the Neolithic sites are rich and varied in Pingyi county, Shandong Province. The Neolithic remains of the Dawenkou Culture, the Longshan Culture and the Yueshi Culture mainly distributed in the valleys of the middle and the south region makes up an important part of the Haidai cultural zone.

左宝贵与洋务运动

清末著名爱国将领左宝贵 ,1894年中日甲午战争中英勇作战 ,壮烈牺牲。左宝贵英雄事迹、传奇故事 ,影响很大 ,人们知之甚多 ,但对于其曾参与洋务运动并取得相当成功 ,数十年中鲜为人知。 1984年 8月 ,文物部门在左宝贵故乡山东省平邑县征集到一部《左宝贵书信集》 ,该《书信集》记载了以往其他史料从未记载的左宝贵参与修铁路、开金矿、办学校等洋务活动 ,为研究左宝贵生平事迹增添了新的内容。
