Methods: Fifty patients with sciatica were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 25 in each. The treatment group received warm needling therapy, and the control received ordinary acupuncture therapy. The treatment effects were assessed after three treatment sessions. Results: The cured rate and total effective rate were 68.0% and 88.0% respectively in the treatment group, versus 36.0% and 66.0% in the control, and the differences were statistically significant (P〈0.05). Conclusion: Warm needling therapy can effectively improve the clinical symptoms in managing sciatica, with better effects compared with ordinary acupuncture therapy.展开更多
