We report that a deep ultraviolet (DUV) laser from the sixth harmonic of a 1064nm laser has been firstly used as light source in an ultrahigh energy-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). The wavelength is 177.3nm obtained by using the second harmonic KBe2BO3F2 crystal with a frequency tripled 1064nm Nd:YVO4 laser. The large flux (10^14 - 10^15 photons/s) and narrow line width (0.26 meV) are suitable for the ultrahigh-energy resolution ARPES. The laser-ARPES can be a powerful tool to study the electronic structure at and near the Fermi level of the superconductor and correlated materials. The laser-ARPES has worked more than 500 h already. 展开更多

We report on a polarization-adjustable picosecond deep-ultraviolet (DUV) laser at 177.3 nm.The DUV laser was produced by second harmonic generation from a mode-locked laser at 355 nm in nonlinear optical crystal KBBF.The laser delivered a maximum average output power of 1.1 m W at 177.3 nm.The polarization of the 177.3nm beam was adjusted with linear and circular polarization by means of λ/4 and λ/2 wave plates.To the best of our knowledge,the laser has been employed as the circularly polarized and linearly polarized DUV light source for a spin- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy with high resolution for the first time. 展开更多

Crystal Growth of CsB_3O_5 from NaF Flux

Nonlinear optical CsB3O5 single crystals have been grown successfully using NaF as a flux. The primary CsB3O5-NaF quasi-binary system has been investigated by X-ray diffraction and differential thermal analysis. There is a single eutectic point, and the eutectic composition corresponds to 40mol% NaF with the temperature of 690.5 ℃ in CsB3O5-NaF system. Volatility of the CsB3O5-NaF system along the liquidus has been measured, and the volatiles of the solution were collected and detected by XRD method. Growth of CsB3O5 crystals was carried out by different composition of NaF in CsB3O5-NaF system, and the growth parameters were discussed. Simultaneously, the properties of grown crystals from NaF flux were characterized by transmission spectrum and scanning electron microscopy. 展开更多
