The DC electrical resistivity-temperature characteristic is an important property for insulating materials to operate at a high stress level.In order to improve the DC electrical resistivity at elevated temperature in a targeted way,a positive temperature coefficient(PTC)material(Ba Ti O3-based compound(BT60))was selected as the filler in this paper,whose electrical resistivity has a PTC effect when the temperature exceeds its Curie temperature.The BT60 was treated with hydrogen peroxide and(3-Aminopropyl)triethoxysilane.Epoxy composites with different loadings of BT60 fillers(0 wt%,0.5 wt%,and 2 wt%of epoxy)were prepared,denoted as EP-0,EP-0.5,and EP-2.It was shown that BT60 was able to maintain the DC breakdown strength when its loading was less than 2 wt%of epoxy.As the temperature exceeds 60°C,BT60 will compensate for the negative temperature coefficient effect of epoxy resin to some extent.The electrical resistivity of EP-2 was improved by 55%compared with that of neat epoxy at 90°C.It was found that the potential barrier at the grain boundary of BT60 and the deep traps in the interface between BT60 and the epoxy resin hinder the migration of carriers and thus increase the electrical resistivity of epoxy composite. 展开更多

In recent years,the artificial intelligence(Al)technology is becoming more and more popular in many areas due to its amazing performance.However,the application of Al techniques in power systems is still in its infancy.Therefore,in this paper,the application potentials of Al technologies in power systems will be discussed by mainly focusing on the power system operation and monitoring.For the power system operation,the problems,the demands,and the possible applications of Al techniques in control,optimization,and decision making problems are discussed.Subsequently,the fault detection and stability analysis problems in power system monitoring are studied.At the end of the paper,a case study to use the neural network(NN)for power flow analysis is provided as a simple example to demonstrate the viability of Al techniques in solving power system problems. 展开更多

Since China power grids have a hierarchical architecture in operation and man- agement, centralized computation patterns are difficult to meet the demands of small-signal-stability analysis of the bulk interconnected power systems. A dis- tributed eigenvalue algorithm derived from the inverse iteration method is pro- posed. It can not only obtain eigenvalues and eigenvectors from power system state matrix but also provide participation factors of all generators. In the comput- ing process, the algorithm only requires exchanging data of boundary nodes and a small amount of other information of different regions. Therefore, it is very suitable to be deployed in a WAN (wide area network) based distributed environment. The algorithm has been tested on an IEEE39 system. 展开更多

Open-end winding motors are used extensively in ship electric propulsion systems,in which medium-voltage high-power inverters are a critical component.To increase the system voltage and power density,a dual five-level active neutral-point clamped(ANPC)inverter is proposed herein to drive medium-voltage open-end winding motors for ship electric propulsion.Each phase of this inverter comprises two five-level ANPC bridges and all the phases are powered by a common direct-current link.A hybrid modulation method is proposed to control this inverter.The series-connected switches in all the five-level ANPC bridges are operated at the fundamental frequency,and the other switches are controlled with a phase-shifted pulse-width modulation(PWM),which can achieve a natural balance between the neutral-point voltage and flying capacitor voltages in a carrier period.A closed-loop capacitor voltage balancing method based on adjusting the duty ratios of the PWM signals is proposed.The neutral-point voltage and flying capacitor voltages can be controlled independently and balanced without affecting the output phase voltage.Simulation and experimental results are presented to demonstrate the validity of this method. 展开更多

Recently, explanations of the sub-synchronous oscillation(SSO) caused by wind farms based on directdriven wind generators(DDWGs) have been published in the literatures, in which the controller parameters of DDWGs and the system equivalent parameters play an important role. However, more than one set of parameters can cause weakly damped sub-synchronous modes. The most vulnerable and highly possible scenario is still unknown. To find scenarios that have potential oscillation risks, this paper proposes a small disturbance model of wind farms with DDWGs connected to the grid using a state-space modeling technique. Taguchi’s orthogonal array testing is introduced to generate different scenarios.Multiple scenarios with different parameter settings that may lead to SSOs are found. A probabilistic analysis method based on the Gaussian mixture model is employed to evaluate the consistency of these scenarios with the actual accidents. Electromagnetic transient simulations are performed to verify the findings. 展开更多

There exists a large class of nonlinear systems with uncertainties, such as hydrau- lic turbine governors, whose robust control problem is hard to solve by means of the existing robust control approaches. For this class of systems, this work pre- sents a dynamic extending H∞ controller via both differential geometry and H∞ the- ory. Furthermore, based on differential game theory, it has been verified that the proposed control strategy has robustness in the sense that the disturbance can be attenuated effectively because the L2-gain from the disturbance input to the regu- lation output signal could be reduced to any given level. Thirdly, a robust control strategy for hydraulic turbine governor is designed according to the proposed ex- tending H∞ control method, and has been developed into a real control equipment. Finally the field experiments are carried out which show clearly that the developed control equipment can enhance transient stability of power systems more effec- tively than the conventional controller. 展开更多
