This study focuses on examining the characteristics of climate factors and extreme climate events in Northeast China during 1961- 2010 by using daily data from 104 stations, including surface air temperature, precipitation, wind speed, sunshine duration, and snow depth. Results show that annual mean temperature increased at a significant rate of 0.35℃ per decade, most notably in the Lesser Khingan Mountains and in winter. Annual rainfall had no obvious linear trend, while rainy days had a significant decreasing trend. So, the rain intensity increased. High-temperature days had a weak increasing trend, and low-temperature days and cold wave showed significant decreasing trends with rates of 3.9 d per decade and -0.64 times per decade, respectively. Frequency and spatial scope of low-temperature hazard reduced significantly. Warm days and warm nights significantly increased at 1.0 and 2.4 d per decade, while cold days and cold nights decreased significantly at -1.8 and -4.1 d per decade, respectively. The nighttime warming rate was much higher than that for daytime, indicating that nighttime warming had a greater contribution to the overall warming trend than daytime warming. The annual mean wind speed, gale days, and sunshine duration had significant decreasing trends at rates of-0.21 m s-1 per decade, -4.0 d per decade and -43.3 h per decade, respectively. The snow cover onset dates postponed at a rate of 1.2 d per decade, and the snow cover end date advanced at 1.5 d per decade, which leads to shorter snow cover duration by -2.7 d per decade. Meanwhile, the maximum snow depth decreased at -0.52 cm per decade. In addition, the snow cover duration shows a higher correlation with precipitation than with temperature, which suggests that precipitation plays a more important role in maintaining snow cover duration than temperature. 展开更多

The monthly mean temperature for October in the Fenglin National Natural Reserve of Wuying, in Heilongjiang province, was reconstructed for the period running from 1796 to 2004 using RES tree ring chronology. The explained variance of the reconstruction is 34.8%. In the past 209 years, there are 4 colder and 4 warmer periods according to the reconstructed series. A period of 3.33-year is found significant based on the power spectrum method. Abrupt changes are also detected in the reconstructed series with 30-year time scale based on the smoothing t-test, smoothing F-test and Le Page test methods. Significant abrupt changes in mean value are observed for around 1871 and 1900, and a significant abrupt change in standard deviation is observed for around 1851. 展开更多

[Objective]The research aimed to analyze and contrast flood cause in Nenjiang Basin between 2013 and 1998.[Method]Based on meteorological and hydrological data in and around Nenjiang Basin, geographic information system as data processing platform, statistical methods such as synthesis analysis and correlation analysis were combined to contrast and analyze the flood cause in the Nenjiang Basin between 2013 and1998.[Result]The similarities of two floods in Nenjiang Basin were that rainstorm frequency and summer precipitation were more, and many large and medium-sized reservoirs which undertook the flood control task were running above flood level. In order to protect the safety of reservoir dam, flood discharge volume increased. And the difference was external forcing factor which caused atmospheric circulation abnormality, thus the impact factors of summer more rainfall were not the same. The main reason for more precipitation in Nenjiang Basin in summer of 2013:The northeast cold vortex activity was frequent, and the path was by north;water vapor transport was sufficient at 850 hPa;at 500 hPa,the Eurasian zonal circulation was weak, the West Pacific subtropical high pressure abnormally moved northward, blocking high of the Sea of Okhotsk was obvious, and Heilongjiang region was controlled by negative anomaly in midsummer;East Asian westerly jet location was abnormal at 200 hPa,and East Asian summer monsoon was strong.[Conclusion]The research had very important significance for understanding occurrence rule of flood and improving disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities in Nenjiang Basin. 展开更多

With the advent of climate change, winter temperatures have been steadily increasing in the middle-to-high latitudes of the world. However,we have not found a corresponding decrease in the number of extremely cold winters. This paper, based on Climatic Research Unit(CRU)re-analysis data, and methods of trend analysis, mutation analysis, correlation analysis, reports on the effects of Arctic warming on winter temperatures in Heilongjiang Province,Northeast China. The results show that:(1)during the period 1961-2018,winter temperatures in the Arctic increased considerably, that is,3.5 times those of the Equator, which has led to an increasing temperature gradient between the Arctic and the Equator. An abrupt change in winter temperatures in the Arctic was observed in 2000.(2)Due to the global warming,an extremely significant warming occurred in Heilongjiang in winter,in particular, after the Arctic mutation in 2000,although there were two warm winters, more cold winters were observed and the interannual variability of winter temperature also increased.(3)Affected by the warming trend in the Arctic, the Siberian High has intensified, and both the Arctic Vortex and the Eurasian Zonal Circulation Index has weakened. This explains the decrease in winter temperatures in Heilongjiang, and why cold winters still dominate. Moreover, the increase in temperature difference between the Arctic and the Equator is another reason for the decrease in winter temperatures in Heilongjiang. 展开更多
