文摘Damage of the blood vessels in retina due to diabetes is called diabetic retinopathy(DR).Hemorrhages is thefirst clinically visible symptoms of DR.This paper presents a new technique to extract and classify the hemorrhages in fundus images. The normal objects such as blood vessels, fovea and optic disc inside retinal images are masked to distinguish them from hemorrhages. For masking blood vessels, thresholding that separates blood vessels and background intensity followed by a newfilter to extract the border of vessels based on orienta-tions of vessels are used. For masking optic disc, the image is divided into sub-images then the brightest window with maximum variance in intensity is selected. Then the candidate dark regions are extracted based on adaptive thresholding and top-hat morphological techniques.Features are extracted from each candidate region based on ophthalmologist selection such as color and size and pattern recognition techniques such as texture and wavelet features.Three different types of Support Vector Machine(SVM),Linear SVM,Quadratic SVM and Cubic SVM classifier are applied to classify the candidate dark regions as either hemor-rhages or healthy. The efficacy of the proposed method is demonstrated using the standard benchmark DIARETDB1 database and by comparing the results with methods in silico. The performance of the method is measured based on average sensitivity,specificity,F-score and accuracy.Experimental results show the Linear SVM classifier gives better results than Cubic SVM and Quadratic SVM with respect to sensitivity and accuracy and with respect to specificity Quadratic SVM gives better result as compared to other SVMs.

文摘Road traffic monitoring is an imperative topic widely discussed among researchers.Systems used to monitor traffic frequently rely on cameras mounted on bridges or roadsides. However, aerial images provide the flexibility to use mobile platforms to detect the location and motion of the vehicle over a larger area.To this end, different models have shown the ability to recognize and track vehicles. However, these methods are not mature enough to produce accurate results in complex road scenes. Therefore, this paper presents an algorithm that combines state-of-the-art techniques for identifying and tracking vehicles in conjunction with image bursts. The extracted frames were converted to grayscale, followed by the application of a georeferencing algorithm to embed coordinate information into the images. The masking technique eliminated irrelevant data and reduced the computational cost of the overall monitoring system.Next,Sobel edge detection combined with Canny edge detection and Hough line transform has been applied for noise reduction. After preprocessing, the blob detection algorithm helped detect the vehicles.Vehicles of varying sizes have been detected by implementing a dynamic thresholding scheme.Detection was done on the first image of every burst. Then,to track vehicles, the model of each vehicle was made to find its matches in the succeeding images using the template matching algorithm. To further improve the tracking accuracy by incorporating motion information,Scale Invariant Feature Transform(SIFT)features have been used to find the best possible match among multiple matches. An accuracy rate of 87%for detection and 80%accuracy for tracking in the A1 Motorway Netherland dataset has been achieved. For the Vehicle Aerial Imaging from Drone(VAID)dataset,an accuracy rate of 86%for detection and 78%accuracy for tracking has been achieved.
文摘Nowadays, there is tremendous growth in biometric authentication and cybersecurity applications. Thus, the efficient way of storing and securing personal biometric patterns is mandatory in most governmental and private sectors. Therefore, designing and implementing robust security algorithms for users’biometrics is still a hot research area to be investigated. This work presents a powerful biometric security system(BSS)to protect different biometric modalities such as faces, iris, and fingerprints. The proposed BSSmodel is based on hybridizing auto-encoder(AE)network and a chaos-based ciphering algorithm to cipher the details of the stored biometric patterns and ensures their secrecy. The employed AE network is unsupervised deep learning(DL)structure used in the proposed BSS model to extract main biometric features. These obtained features are utilized to generate two random chaos matrices. The first random chaos matrix is used to permute the pixels of biometric images. In contrast, the second random matrix is used to further cipher and confuse the resulting permuted biometric pixels using a two-dimensional(2D)chaotic logisticmap(CLM)algorithm. To assess the efficiency of the proposed BSS,(1)different standardized color and grayscale images of the examined fingerprint, faces, and iris biometrics were used(2)comprehensive security and recognition evaluation metrics were measured. The assessment results have proven the authentication and robustness superiority of the proposed BSSmodel compared to other existing BSSmodels. For example, the proposed BSS succeeds in getting a high area under the receiver operating characteristic(AROC)value that reached 99.97%and low rates of 0.00137,0.00148,and 3516 CMC,2023,vol.74,no.20.00157 for equal error rate(EER),false reject rate(FRR),and a false accept rate(FAR),respectively.

文摘Currently, the risk factors of pregnancy loss are increasing andare considered a major challenge because they vary between cases. The earlyprediction of miscarriage can help pregnant ladies to take the needed careand avoid any danger. Therefore, an intelligent automated solution must bedeveloped to predict the risk factors for pregnancy loss at an early stage toassist with accurate and effective diagnosis. Machine learning (ML)-baseddecision support systems are increasingly used in the healthcare sector andhave achieved notable performance and objectiveness in disease predictionand prognosis. Thus, we developed a model to help obstetricians predictthe probability of miscarriage using ML. And support their decisions andexpectations about pregnancy status by providing an easy, automated way topredict miscarriage at early stages using ML tools and techniques. Althoughmany published papers proposed similar models, none of them used Saudiclinical data. Our proposed solution used ML classification algorithms tobuild a miscarriage prediction model. Four classifiers were used in this study:decision tree (DT), random forest (RF), k-nearest neighbor (KNN), andgradient boosting (GB). Accuracy, Precision, Recall, F1-score, and receiveroperating characteristic area under the curve (ROC-AUC) were used to evaluatethe proposed model. The results showed that GB overperformed the otherclassifiers with an accuracy of 93.4% and ROC-AUC of 97%. This proposedmodel can assist in the early identification of at-risk pregnant women to avoidmiscarriage in the first trimester and will improve the healthcare sector inSaudi Arabia.

文摘A brain tumor is a mass or growth of abnormal cells in the brain. In children and adults, brain tumor is considered one of the leading causes of death. There are several types of brain tumors, including benign(non-cancerous)and malignant(cancerous)tumors.Diagnosing brain tumors as early as possible is essential,as this can improve the chances of successful treatment and survival.Considering this problem,we bring forth a hybrid intelligent deep learning technique that uses several pre-trained models(Resnet50,Vgg16,Vgg19,U-Net)and their integration for computer-aided detection and localization systems in brain tumors. These pre-trained and integrated deep learning models have been used on the publicly available dataset from The Cancer Genome Atlas. The dataset consists of 120 patients. The pre-trained models have been used to classify tumor or no tumor images, while integrated models are applied to segment the tumor region correctly. We have evaluated their performance in terms of loss, accuracy, intersection over union,Jaccard distance, dice coefficient, and dice coefficient loss. From pre-trained models, the U-Net model achieves higher performance than other models by obtaining 95%accuracy.In contrast,U-Net with ResNet-50 out-performs all other models from integrated pre-trained models and correctly classified and segmented the tumor region.

文摘Human brain consists of millions of cells to control the overall structure of the human body. When these cells start behaving abnormally, then brain tumors occurred.Precise and initial stage brain tumor detection has always been an issue in the field of medicines for medical experts. To handle this issue, various deep learning techniques for brain tumor detection and segmentation techniques have been developed, which worked on different datasets to obtain fruitful results, but the problem still exists for the initial stage of detection of brain tumors to save human lives. For this purpose,we proposed a novel U-Net-based Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)technique to detect and segmentizes the brain tumor for Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI).Moreover,a 2-dimensional publicly available Multimodal Brain Tumor Image Segmentation(BRATS2020)dataset with 1840 MRI images of brain tumors has been used having an image size of 240×240 pixels. After initial dataset preprocessing the proposed model is trained by dividing the dataset into three parts i.e.,testing,training,and validation process. Our model attained an accuracy value of 0.98%on the BRATS2020 dataset, which is the highest one as compared to the already existing techniques.

文摘For the cloud computing system, combined wth the memory function and incomplete matching of the biological immune system,a formal modeling and analysis method of the cloud computing system survivability is proposed by analyzing the survival situation of critical cloud services.First,on the basis of the SAIR(susceptible, active, infected, recovered)model, the SEIRS(susceptible, exposed, infected, recovered, susceptible)model and the vulnerability diffusion model of the distributed virtual system, the evolution state of the virus is divided into six types, and then the diffusion rules of the virus in the service domain of the cloud computing system and the propagation rules between service domains are analyzee. Finally,on the basis of Bio-PEPA(biological-performance evaluation process algebra),the formalized modeling of the survivability evolution of critical cloud services is made, and the SLIRAS(susceptible, latent, infected, recovered, antidotal, susceptible)model is obtained.Based on the stochastic simulation and the ODEs(ordinary differential equations)simulation of the Bio-PEPA model, the sensitivity parameters of the model are analyzed from three aspects, namely, the virus propagation speed of inter-domain,recovery ability and memory ability. The results showthat the proposed model has high approximate fitting degree to the actual cloud computing system, and it can well reflect the survivable change of the system.

文摘The spatial pattern of trees is an important fea-ture of forests, and different spatial patterns of trees exhibit different ecological stability.Research has confirmed that natural forests with random patterns have higher biodiversity and stronger resistance to unstable factors such as pests and diseases.Even if they are disturbed or destroyed by unsta-ble factors such as pests and diseases, they can still recover and rescue themselves;while artificial forests with uniform and clustered patterns have lower biodiversity and are sus-ceptible to unstable factors such as pests and diseases. And once pests and diseases occur,it’s more difficult for them to recover. In order to promote the healthy and stable develop-ment of the forestry industry and protect the diversity of the biological environment,it is necessary to protect the random pattern of natural forests from being destroyed in the process of forest management, while effectively trans-forming the spatial pattern of artificial forests into a random pattern. Therefore,in order to ensure the convenient and accurate determination of the type of forest spatial pattern, research on methods for determining forest spatial pattern has become particularly important.Based on the theory of uniformity, this study proposes definitions and related theo-ries of included exclusive sphere, included exclusive body, included random pattern, and included uniformity.Under the guidance of the definition of inclusion uniformity and related theories, and by using mathematical method,it is proved that the uniformity of inclusion(CL)is asymptotically subject to the Eq.18,Therefore,the relationship between the included uniformity(CL)and the number of trees in the sample plot was established, and the corresponding relationship formula was obtained, and then the determination of the spatial pat-tern type of trees was completed by using the corresponding relationship formula.Through rigorous reasoning and case verification, the determination method of forest spatial pat-tern is effective.

文摘Object segmentation and recognition is an imperative area of computer vision andmachine learning that identifies and separates individual objects within an image or video and determines classes or categories based on their features. The proposed system presents a distinctive approach to object segmentation and recognition using Artificial Neural Networks(ANNs).The system takes RGB images as input and uses a k-means clustering-based segmentation technique to fragment the intended parts of the images into different regions and label thembased on their characteristics. Then, two distinct kinds of features are obtained from the segmented images to help identify the objects of interest. An Artificial Neural Network(ANN)is then used to recognize the objects based on their features.Experiments were carried out with three standard datasets,MSRC,MS COCO,and Caltech 101 which are extensively used in object recognition research,to measure the productivity of the suggested approach. The findings from the experiment support the suggested system’s validity,as it achieved class recognition accuracies of 89%,83%,and 90.30% on the MSRC,MS COCO,and Caltech 101 datasets, respectively.

文摘Intelligent vehicle tracking and detection are crucial tasks in the realm of highway management. However, vehicles come in a range of sizes, which is challenging to detect, affecting the traffic monitoring system’s overall accuracy.Deep learning is considered to be an efficient method for object detection in vision-based systems. In this paper,we proposed a vision-based vehicle detection and tracking system based on a You Look Only Once version 5(YOLOv5)detector combined with a segmentation technique. The model consists of six steps. In the first step, all the extracted traffic sequence images are subjected to pre-processing to remove noise and enhance the contrast level of the images. These pre-processed images are segmented by labelling each pixel to extract the uniform regions to aid the detection phase.A single-stage detector YOLOv5 is used to detect and locate vehicles in images. Each detection was exposed to Speeded Up Robust Feature(SURF)feature extraction to track multiple vehicles.Based on this,a unique number is assigned to each vehicle to easily locate them in the succeeding image frames by extracting them using the feature-matching technique.Further,we implemented a Kalman filter to track multiple vehicles. In the end,the vehicle path is estimated by using the centroid points of the rectangular bounding box predicted by the tracking algorithm. The experimental results and comparison reveal that our proposed vehicle detection and tracking system outperformed other state-of-the-art systems. The proposed implemented system provided 94.1%detection precision for Roundabout and 96.1%detection precision for Vehicle Aerial Imaging from Drone(VAID)datasets, respectively.

文摘Advances in machine vision systems have revolutionized applications such as autonomous driving, robotic navigation, and augmented reality.Despite substantial progress, challenges persist, including dynamic backgrounds, occlusion, and limited labeled data.To address these challenges,we introduce a comprehensive methodology toenhance image classification and object detection accuracy. The proposed approach involves the integration ofmultiple methods in a complementary way.The process commences with the application of Gaussian filters tomitigate the impact of noise interference. These images are then processed for segmentation using Fuzzy C-Meanssegmentation in parallel with saliency mapping techniques to find the most prominent regions. The Binary RobustIndependent Elementary Features(BRIEF)characteristics are then extracted fromdata derived fromsaliency mapsand segmented images. For precise object separation,Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF(ORB)algorithms areemployed.Genetic Algorithms(GAs)are used to optimize Random Forest classifier parameters which lead toimproved performance. Our method stands out due to its comprehensive approach, adeptly addressing challengessuch as changing backdrops, occlusion, and limited labeled data concurrently.A significant enhancement hasbeen achieved by integrating Genetic Algorithms(GAs)to precisely optimize parameters. This minor adjustmentnot only boosts the uniqueness of our system but also amplifies its overall efficacy. The proposed methodologyhas demonstrated notable classification accuracies of 90.9%and 89.0%on the challenging Corel-1k and MSRCdatasets, respectively.Furthermore, detection accuracies of 87.2%and 86.6%have been attained.Although ourmethod performed well in both datasets it may face difficulties in real-world data especially where datasets havehighly complex backgrounds.Despite these limitations,GAintegration for parameter optimization shows a notablestrength in enhancing the overall adaptability and performance of our system.
文摘The number of blogs and other forms of opinionated online content has increased dramatically in recent years. Many fields, including academia and national security, place an emphasis on automated political article orientation detection.Political articles(especially in the Arab world)are different from other articles due to their subjectivity,in which the author’s beliefs and political affiliation might have a significant influence on a political article. With categories representing the main political ideologies, this problem may be thought of as a subset of the text categorization(classification). In general, the performance of machine learning models for text classification is sensitive to hyperparameter settings.Furthermore, the feature vector used to represent a document must capture,to some extent, the complex semantics of natural language. To this end, this paper presents an intelligent system to detect political Arabic article orientation that adapts the categorical boosting(CatBoost)method combined with a multi-level feature concept.Extracting features at multiple levels can enhance the model’s ability to discriminate between different classes or patterns. Each level may capture different aspects of the input data, contributing to a more comprehensive representation.CatBoost,a robust and efficient gradient-boosting algorithm,is utilized to effectively learn and predict the complex relationships between these features and the political orientation labels associated with the articles.A dataset of political Arabic texts collected from diverse sources, including postings and articles,is used to assess the suggested technique.Conservative, reform, and revolutionary are the three subcategories of these opinions. The results of this study demonstrate that compared to other frequently used machine learning models for text classification, the CatBoost method using multi-level features performs better with an accuracy of 98.14%.

文摘In the modern era of a growing population,it is arduous for humans to monitor every aspect of sports, events occurring around us,and scenarios or conditions. This recognition of different types of sports and events has increasingly incorporated the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence. This research focuses on detecting and recognizing events in sequential photos characterized by several factors, including the size, location, and position of people’s body parts in those pictures, and the influence around those people.Common approaches utilized, here are feature descriptors such as MSER(Maximally Stable Extremal Regions),SIFT(Scale-Invariant Feature Transform),and DOF(degree of freedom)between the joint points are applied to the skeleton points. Moreover, for the same purposes, other features such as BRISK(Binary Robust Invariant Scalable Keypoints),ORB(Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF),and HOG(Histogram of Oriented Gradients)are applied on full body or silhouettes. The integration of these techniques increases the discriminative nature of characteristics retrieved in the identification process of the event, hence improving the efficiency and reliability of the entire procedure. These extracted features are passed to the early fusion and DBscan for feature fusion and optimization. Then deep belief, network is employed for recognition.Experimental results demonstrate a separate experiment’s detection average recognition rate of 87%in the HMDB51 video database and 89%in the YouTube database, showing a better perspective than the current methods in sports and event identification.
