Post-displacement status of climate migrants in Rajshahi City, Bangladesh

Some big cities in Bangladesh have been experiencing a massive and rapid influx of rural people due to the impacts of climate change,and therefore the urban administration encounters enormous challenges.This study aims to investigate the drivers of climate-induced migration and the post-displacement status of the migrants living in the urban slum of Rajshahi City.Using a semi-structured questionnaire survey,this study conducted interviews with 50 migrants residing in two slums in Rajshahi City.An interpretive phenomenological analysis(IPA)approach was implemented to evaluate the survey data.This study finds that food insecurity and flood are the two significant climate drivers of migration.Among the non-climate drivers,lack of alternative livelihood is the major reason.It should be noticed that the climate migrants in many cases do not get the opportunity to improve their living standards;they are usually occupied with low-pay professions like maid,van and rickshaw puller,and scrap collector.The study also reveals that migrants,especially females and children,need several basic physiological,economic,social,and health services.Most children have no chance to attend school.Compared to males,females have more opportunities for some support and allowances.Overall,an inadequate level of change has taken place in the lives of migrants,which raises the concern if migration is ever a way to resolve a problem or the beginning of many other problems.Further research may concentrate on the impact of migration on the dynamics of social capital among slum dwellers. 展开更多

多媒体学习是信息时代的新型学习方式,多媒体浏览行为及其选择偏好在一定程度上反映学习者的学习心理与行为特征。研究选取四种典型的"文字+图片"类多媒体界面,通过让中学生浏览这些多媒体学习材料,用眼动跟踪仪测量其浏览时... 多媒体学习是信息时代的新型学习方式,多媒体浏览行为及其选择偏好在一定程度上反映学习者的学习心理与行为特征。研究选取四种典型的"文字+图片"类多媒体界面,通过让中学生浏览这些多媒体学习材料,用眼动跟踪仪测量其浏览时间和次数等眼动数据,来推断中学生多媒体浏览行为的偏好倾向。实验结果表明:中学生浏览文字区时,具有"中学女生在文字区上的注视时间显著大于男生"等五大特征;浏览图片区时,具有"农村学校的学生浏览图片区的注视时间和注视点个数最少"等三大特征;中学生浏览多媒体界面时,具有"中学生更关心左图右文结构中的文字区"等五个选择偏好。在此基础上,进一步从五方面挖掘了浏览行为选择偏好对多媒体教学的价值。 展开更多

中学生通过浏览多媒体材料获取信息已经成为一种重要的学习方式,研究主要运用眼动实验方法 ,探寻中学生多媒体浏览行为的选择偏好与内容呈现路径之间的内在联系,旨在为中学生的多媒体学习提供实验依据。研究结果表明,中学生具有八方面... 中学生通过浏览多媒体材料获取信息已经成为一种重要的学习方式,研究主要运用眼动实验方法 ,探寻中学生多媒体浏览行为的选择偏好与内容呈现路径之间的内在联系,旨在为中学生的多媒体学习提供实验依据。研究结果表明,中学生具有八方面的浏览行为选择偏好:(1)中学生浏览多媒体界面时偏好从左上角开始浏览,到右下角结束浏览;(2)给教学内容进行顺序编号的偏好不会改变读者的浏览顺序;(3)顺序编号对读者的浏览顺序选择和注意力仍有一定的影响;(4)城市学校学生偏好浏览正序对角呈现时区3中的内容;(5)农村学校学生喜欢浏览正序右拐时区1中的内容;(6)女生比男生更偏好浏览区3中的内容;(7)成绩差的学生比成绩好的学生更早地进入区2和区3进行浏览;(8)成绩差的女生相对于成绩好的女生和成绩差的男生来讲,更喜欢先进入区3进行浏览。以这些浏览行为选择偏好为基础,为多媒体学习材料设计和多媒体教学提出了一些具体建议。 展开更多

Globalization is bringing about a new paradigm of super-diversity which is resulting in all societies becoming more culturally diverse.Interculturalism,as a new model which responds to this increasing diversity,rejects all forms of discrimination based on differences,instead embracing reciprocity and accommodation.Interculturalism theory is characterized by integration,cohesion,and intercultural dialogue.Compared to multiculturalism theory,interculturalism theory discusses how to make a society more cohesive and accommodate people from different cultures.Interculturalism features a stronger sense of whole.Therefore,in intercultural education,intercultural competence is highlighted in order to catalyze dialogue between people from different groups.Interculturalism has a role in increasing the current level of diversity within contemporary Chinese society.Furthermore,Confucius’ideal of Great Harmony,which values integration while respecting differences,echoes the tenets of interculturalism.In conclusion,interculturalism can serve as an effective theory for cultivating a shared society. 展开更多
