Reflection of Plane Waves from Free Surface of an Initially Stressed Rotating Orthotropic Dissipative Solid Half-Space 被引量:1

The governing equations of an initially stressed rotating orthotropic dissipative medium are solved analytically to obtain the velocity equation which indicates the existence of two quasi-planar waves. The appropriate particular solutions in the half-space satisfy the required boundary conditions at the stress-free surface to obtain the expressions of the reflec-tion coefficients of the reflected quasi-P (qP) and reflected quasi-SV (qSV) waves in closed form for the incidence of qP and qSV waves. A particular model is chosen for numerical computation of these reflection coefficients for a certain range of the angle of incidence. The numerical values of these reflection coefficients are shown graphically against the angle of incidence for different values of initial stress parameter and rotation parameter. The impact of initial stress and rotation parameters on the reflection coefficients is observed significantly. 展开更多

Influence of magnetic field on wave propagation at liquid-microstretch solid interface

The reflection and refraction of a longitudinal wave at an interface between a perfectly conducting nonviscous liquid half-space and a perfectly conducting microstretch elastic solid half-space are studied. The appropriate solutions to the governing equations are obtained in both the half-spaces satisfying the required boundary conditions at the interface to obtain a system of five non-homogeneous equations in the amplitude ratios of various reflected and transmitted waves. The system is solved by a Fortran program of the Gauss elimination method for a particular example of an interface between water and aluminum-epoxy composite. Numerical values of the amplitude ratios are computed for a certain range of the incidence angle both in the presence and absence of an impressed transverse magnetic field. The effects of the presence of the transverse magnetic field on the amplitude ratios of various reflected and transmitted waves are shown graphically. 展开更多

The present paper is concerned with the propagation of plane waves in an isotropic two-temperature generalized thermoelastic solid half-space in context of Green and Naghdi theory of type II (without energy dissipation). The governing equations in x – z plane are solved to show the existence of three coupled plane waves. The reflection of plane waves from a thermally insulated free surface is considered to obtain the relations between the reflection coefficients. A particular example of the half-space is chosen for numerical computations of the speeds and reflection coefficients of plane waves. On Propagation of Rayleigh Type Surface Wave in a Micropolar Piezoelectric Medium

In the present paper, the governing equations of a linear transversely isotropic micropolar piezoelectric medium are specialized for x-z plane after using symmetry relations in constitutive coefficients. These equations are solved for the general surface wave solutions in the medium. Following radiation conditions in the half-space, the particular solutions are obtained, which satisfy the appropriate boundary conditions at the stress-free surface of the half-space. A secular equation for Rayleigh type surface wave is obtained. An iteration method is applied to compute the non-dimensional wave speed of the Rayleigh surface wave for specific material parameters. The effects of piezoelectricity, non-dimensional frequency and non-dimensional material constant, charge free surface and electrically shorted surface are shown graphically on the wave speed of Rayleigh wave. 展开更多

In this paper, Rayleigh surface wave is studied at a stress free thermally insulated surface of a two-temperature thermoelastic solid half-space in absence of energy dissipation. The governing equations of two-temperature generalized thermoelastic medium without energy dissipation are solved for surface wave solutions. The appropriate particular solutions are applied to the required boundary conditions to obtain the frequency equation of the Rayleigh wave. Some special cases are also derived. The non-dimensional speed is computed numerically and shown graphically to show the dependence on the frequency and two-temperature parameter. 展开更多

In this paper,the governing equations of linear,isotropic,homogeneous and generalized micropolar thermoelasticity are specialized in a plane.The governing equations are solved for plane harmonic wave solutions.Two separate velocity equations are obtained which indicate the existence of four plane waves with distinct speeds.A problem on reflection of plane waves from a thermally insulated/isothermal surface is considered with impedance boundary conditions.Appropriate potentials for incident and reflected waves are formulated which satisfy the boundary conditions at a plane surface.Relations between reflection coefficients as well as the expressions of energy ratios for various reflected waves are obtained.For illustration,the reflection coefficients and energy ratios of reflected waves are computed for relevant material parameters of an aluminium-epoxy composite.Effect of impedance parameters on all reflected waves is shown graphically at each angle of incidence. 展开更多

Reflection and transmission of elastic waves at an interface between two micropolar piezoelectric half-spaces

In the present paper,we consider a problem of reflection and transmission of plane waves at an interface between two different transversely isotropic micropolar piezoelectric half-spaces.The plane wave solution of governing equations for micropolar piezoelectric medium indicates the propagation of three coupled plane waves.An incident plane wave at an interface between two dissimilar half-spaces generates three reflected and three transmitted waves.The relations between amplitude ratios of reflected and transmitted waves are derived which,in general,depend on material parameters and angle of incidence.The explicit expressions for energy ratios of reflected and transmitted waves are also obtained.For relevant material parameters,the results are illustrated graphically to show the micropolar piezoelectric effects on variations of amplitude ratios and the square root of energy ratios against the angle of incidence. 展开更多
