In this paper, a dynamic equation and method to assemble parameter matrixes for a mega-sub controlled structure under random wind loads is presented. Semi-active control using magnetorheological dampers for the MSCS under random wind loads is investigated, and is compared with a corresponding system without dampers. A parametric study of the relative stiffness ratio and relative mass ratio between the mega-frame and the substructures, as well as the additional column stiffness ratio that influences the response control effectiveness of the MSCS, is discussed. The studies reveal, for the first time, that different control mechanisms exist. The results indicate that the proposed structure employing semi-active control can offer an effective control mechanism. Guidelines for selecting parameters are provided based on the analytical study.展开更多

Two-dimensional analyses are employed in this paper by extending the one-dimensional model to take into consideration of the influence of the delamination width on the buckling performance of the laminates. The laminate is simply supported containing a through width delamination. A new parameterβ defined as the ratio of delamination length to delamination width is introduced with an emphasis on the influence of the delamination size. It is found that (i) when the ratio β is greater than one snap-through buckling prevails, the buckling load is determined by the delamination size and depth only; (ii) as the ratio β continues to increase, the buckling load will approach to a constant value. Solutions are verified with the well established results and are found in good agreement with the latter.展开更多

Adopting fluid-solid coupling method, the whole process from detonating to shockwave transference in the ore-pass reappears. The air shockwave's attenuation, chocking-up surface pressure and ore-wall press are analyzed. The results show that the biggest pressure of ore-wall happened at 0.43 m height, and the peak pressure are 167.0 MPa (250 kg) and 341.1 MPa (500 kg) individually. The choking-up zone's stress state from center to edge represents transition from press to strain, and the strain/press stress peak values are 9.2/ 4.8 MPa (250 kg) and 17.2/12.5 MPa (500 kg). The shockwave's attenuation values got from both experiential formula and simulation are compared, the experiential formula values are 2.54 - 3.49 times of the simulation results.展开更多

The conformal mappings are introduced to solve scattering by an arbitrary cavity for the Helmholtz equation with variable coefficient through the transformed standard Helmholtz equation with a circular cavity. The medium density depends on the distance from the origin with a power-law variation and the shear elastic modulus is constant. The complex-value displacements and stresses of the in.homogeneous medium are explicitly obtained and the distributions of the dynamic stress for the case of an elliptical cavity are discussed. The accuracy of the present approach is verified by comparing the present solution results with the available published data. Numerical results demonstrate that the wave number, inhomogeneous parameters and different values of aspect ratio have significant influence on the dynamic stress concentration factors around the elliptical cavity.展开更多

Based on the twodimensional heat conduction theory, an analytical solution of the transient temperature field in the coke drum is obtained, which is different from the known FEM results. The length of the coke drum is considered finite. The dynamic boundary conditions caused by fluid uninterrupted rising in oiling and watering stages are simulated with the iteration method. Numerical results show that the present theoretical model can accurately describe basic features of the transient temperature field in the coke drum. Effects of the geometry of the coke drum and the rising velocity of quench water on the axial temperature gradient are also discussed.展开更多
