Mastic gum is derived from the tree named Pistacia lentiscus that is grown only in Island Hios of Greek.Since Mastic was first reported to kill Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)in 1998,there has been no further study to e...Mastic gum is derived from the tree named Pistacia lentiscus that is grown only in Island Hios of Greek.Since Mastic was first reported to kill Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)in 1998,there has been no further study to elucidate which component of mastic specifically shows the antimicrobial activity against H.pylori.In this study,we examined which component of mastic gum was responsible for anti-H.pylori activity.We prepared the essential oil of mastic gum and identified 20 constituents by GC–MS analysis.Ten standard components were assayed for anti-H.pylori activity,and it clarified that a-terpineol and(E)-methyl isoeugenol showed the anti-H.pylori activity against four different H.pylori strains that were established from patients with gastritis,gastric ulcer and gastric cancer.These components could be useful to overcome the drug-resistance H.pylori growth in stomach.展开更多

[Methods]Vitamin E was used as a positive control and TNF-...[Objectives] To study the anti-inflammatory activity and mechanism of tanshinone I,cryptotanshinone and 15,16-dihydrotanshinone I on HAECs induced by TNF-α. [Methods]Vitamin E was used as a positive control and TNF-α-induced human aortic endothelial cells( HAECs) were selected as the inflammation model cells. The m RNA levels of IL-6,ICAM-1,VCAM-1,and NF-κB were analyzed by quantitative RT-PCR. The protein expression of NF-κB,ICAM-1,VCAM-1 and phosphorylation of ERK1/2 were determined by Western blot. The adhesion of U937 to HAECs was assessed by BCECF/AM labeling assay. [Results] TNF-α-induced over-expression of IL-6,NF-κB,ICAM-1,and VCAM-1 in HAECs were down-regulated by tanshinone I( TAN),cryptotanshinone( CPT) and 15,16-dihydrotanshinone I( DHT) both in m RNA and protein levels,respectively. Meanwhile 15,16-dihydrotanshinone I and cryptotanshinone could inhibit phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and tanshinone I inhibited U937 adhesion to HAECs significantly. [Conclusions] Tanshinones could inhibit TNF-α induced inflammatory responses on HAECs and the mechanism might be related to inhibition of phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and blocking NF-κB signaling pathway.展开更多

Effects of adsorption time, adsorbent dose, pH of the...Chemically activated cotton nut shell carbons (CTNSCs) were prepared by different chemicals and they were used for the removal of fluoride from aqueous solution. Effects of adsorption time, adsorbent dose, pH of the solution, initial concentration of fluoride, and temperature of the solution were studied with equilibrium, ther- modynamics and kinetics of the adsorption process by various CTNSC adsorbents. It showed that the chemically activated CTNSCs can effectively remove fluoride from the solution. The adsorption equilibrium data correlate well with the Freundlich isotherm model. The adsorption of fluoride by the chemically activated CTNSC is spon- taneous and endothermic in nature. The pseudo first order, pseudo second order and intra particle diffusion kinetic models were applied to test the experimental data. The pseudo second order kinetic model provided a better correlation of the experimental data in comparison with the pseudo-first-order and intra particle diffusion models, A mechanism of fluoride adsorption associating chemisorption and physisorption processes is presented allowing the discussion of the variations in adsorption behavior between these materials in terms of specific surface area and porosity. These data suggest that chemically activated CTNSCs are promising materials for fluoride somtion.展开更多

Daphne diterpenes and tieranes diterpenes, guaiacane type sesquiterpene, lignans, diflavane and flavonoids, sterides, aliphatics and phenols were isolated from Daphne acutiloba Rehd. Researches demonstrated that the main chemical constituents of D. acutiloba Rehd. have multiple activities and good development prospect. This paper is presented as a review centering on the main chemical constituents and pharmacological effects of D. acutiloba Rehd. for the further research and development of this plant.
