Investigation on Liquid Holdup in Vertical Zero Net-Liquid Flow

Investigation on the liq... Zero net-liquid flow (ZNLF) is a special case of upward gas-liquid two-phase flow. It is a phenomenon observed as a gas-liquid mixture flows in a conduit but the net liquid flow rate is zero. Investigation on the liquid holdup of ZNLF is conducted in a vertical ten-meter tube with diameter of 76 mm, both for Newtonian and non Newtonian fluids. The gas phase is air. The Newtonian fluid is water and the non-Newtonian fluids are water-based guar gel solutions. The correlations developed for predicting liquid holdup on the basis of Lockhart-Martinelli parameter are not suitable to ZNLF. A constitutive correlation for the liquid holdup of vertical ZNLF was put forward by using the mass balance. It is found that the liquid holdup in ZNLF is dependent on both the gas flow rate and the flow distribution coefficient. 展开更多

The transient flow mathematical model of arbitrary shaped heterogeneous reservoirs with impermeability barrier is proposed in this paper. In order to establish this model, the perturbation method is employed and the solution of model is expanded into a series in powers of perturbation parameter. By using the Boundary Element Method (BEM) and Duhamel principle, wellbore pressure with effects of skins and wellbore storage is obtained. The type curves are plotted and analyzed considering effects of heterogeneity, arbitrary shape and impermeable barriers. Finally, the results obtained by perturbation boundary element method is compared with the analytical solution and is available for the transient pressure analysis of arbitrary shaped reservoirs. 展开更多

The model was numerically treated with the finite difference method. Then curves ofBottom Hole Pressure (BHP) and formation pressure were drawn. The influences of the relaxation time,the injection rate, the permeability reduction coefficient, the consistency coefficient and thepower-law exponent of the injected fluid on pressure performance were analyzed. This study showsthat it is necessary to consider the visco-elasticity of non-Newtonian fluid in analyzing ofpressure performance in the polymer flooding. 展开更多

Experimental Study on oil-water two-phase flow patterns and pressure loss was conducted on a horizontal steel pipe loop with 26.1mm inner diameter and 30m total length. The working fluids are white oil, diesel oil and tap water. Several instruments, including a new type of liquid-probe are successfully integrated to identify 7 different flow patterns. The characteristics of the flow patterns and the transition process were observed and depicted in this paper. Investigation revealed that the pressure loss was mainly depended on the flow patterns. 展开更多

To investigate the non-linear hydrodynamics in horizontal gas-liquid bubblyflow, time-series data of local void fraction were obtained using a double sensor probe. Bothdeterministic chaos and stochastic analyses were used to diagnose the dynamic behaviors in thesystem. The power spectra of the local void fraction exhibited no single distinct peak, indicatingthe aperiodic nature of the variation of the local void fraction. The kolmogorov entropy andcorrelation dimension of the attractor reconstructed from the time-series data by the embeddingmethod were to be positive and very large, the Hurst exponent computed from the rescaled rangeanalysis was found to be larger than 0. 5, indicating the non-linear chaotic feature of the system.The Kolmogorov entropy and the correlation dimension decrease with increasing liquid superficialvelocity, and the correlation dimension changes less if the gas superficial velocity is high. On theother hand, the fluctuation of local void fraction in horizontal gas-liquid bubbly flow could beconsidered to take place due to the zigzag motion of bubbles with different shape, size andvelocity. 展开更多
