Methods Fourteen patients (8 men,6 women) ,aged from 18 to 60 years with a mean of 32 ±12 years, underwent surgical correction of CAF between March 1985 and April 2002. Eleven of the 14 patients (78. 57% ) were symptomatic. The diagnosis of CAF was made by echocardiography or angiocardioraphy preoperatiely. The fistulae originated from the right, left and double coronary arteries in 10 (71%),3(21%) and 1(7%) patient (s),respectively. The fistulae drained into the right ventricle (8 patients), left ventricle (4),right atrium (1) and pulmonary artery (1), respectively. The diameter of fistulae ranged from 0.30 tol.80 cm with a mean of (1.16±0.49)cm.There were 6 CAF patients associated with coronary artery aneurysms and 4 CAF patients with other coexisting cardiac defects. Methods The results of 72 cases of double outlet ventricle were retrospectively analyzed. Results There were 71 cases of double outlet right ventricle, including 64 cases of type SDD, 3 type ILL, 3 type SDL, 1 type IDD. Only one case was double outlet left ventricle type ILD. Surgical procedures included left ventricle-aorta intraventricular tunnel connection in 61 patients,total cava-pulmonary artery connection in 2,left ventricle-aorta intraventricular tunnel and right ventricle-pulmonary artery extracardial tube repaired in 3. Six cases underwent bi-directional Glenn procedure. Two cases died from operation. Residue shunt of VSD was observed in one case and re-operation was done to repair the shunt. There were no long-term death and other complications. Conclusion It is important to choose the right time and proper procedure. Serum samp...AIM: To explore the value of serum M2-pyruvate kinase (M2-PK) in colorectal cancer (CRC) mass screening. METHODS: We conducted a molecular epidemiology study in Hangzhou, China, from year 2006 to year 2008. Serum samples were collected from 93 CRC, 41 advanced adenomas, 137 adenomas, 47 non-adenomatous polyps, and 158 normal participants in a community setting. Serum M2-PK and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) were measured using Enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay. SPSS 16.0 software was used to perform data analysis. Area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificities were estimated for serum M2-PK in diagnosis of colorectal lesions and compared with CEA. RESULTS: Average serum M2-PK value among 158 normal people was 2.96 U/mL and not affected by gender (P = 0.47) or age (P = 0.59). Average serum M2-PK (U/mL) was 14.75 among stage Ⅲ and 13.10 among stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ CRC patients, about 4 times higher than that among normal people. Average serum M2-PK was 8.58, 6.70, 5.13 and 2.51 U/mL among advanced adenoma, adenomas, non-adenomatous polyps, and inflammatory bowel disease patients, respectively. AUC for serum M2-PK was greater than that for CEA among all colorectal lesions. AUC for serum M2-PK was 0.89 (0.84, 0.94) (95% confidence interval), higher than that for CEA [0.70 (0.62-0.79)] in CRC stageⅠ and Ⅱ, 0.89 (0.84-0.94) vs 0.73 (0.63-0.83) in CRC stage Ⅲ, 0.81 (0.74-0.86) vs 0.63 (0.53 -0.73) in advanced adeno- mas, 0.69 (0.64-0.76) vs 0.54 (0.47-0.60) in adenomas, and 0.69 (0.62-0.78) vs 0.58 (0.48-0.68) in nonadenomatous polyps. The diagnostic sensitivity for all colorectal lesions increased with decrease in the cut-off value of serum M2-PK. The diagnostic sensitivity (%) of serum M2-PK was 100.00 for CRC, 95.12 advanced ad- enoma, 82.48 adenoma, and 82.98 non-adenomatous polyp. There were no CRC cases missed and 40.51% of unnecessary colonoscopies were avoided when the cut-off value was 2.00 U/mL. CONCLUSION: Serum M2-PK can be used as a primary screening test in CRC mass screening. It may be a promising non-invasive biomarker for CRC early detection.展开更多

To compare the protective effects to brain between continuous selective cerebral perfusion via right subclavian artery (RSA) and retrograde cerebral perfusion via superior vena cava (SVC) during deep hypothermic circu...To compare the protective effects to brain between continuous selective cerebral perfusion via right subclavian artery (RSA) and retrograde cerebral perfusion via superior vena cava (SVC) during deep hypothermic circulatory arrest (DHCA).Methods Thirty-six hybrid cats with both sexes were randomly divided into 6 groups (n=6 in each).Group 1:DHCA for 45 min with no cerebral perfusion; Group 2:DHCA for 45 min with retrograde perfusion via SVC;Group 3:DHCA for 45 min with perfusion via RSA;Group 4:DHCA for 90 min with no cerebral perfusion; Group 5:DHCA for 90 minwith retrograde perfusion via SVC;Group 6:DHCA for 90 min with perfusion via RSA.Ultrastructure of cerebral tissue,lactate content in venous return blood,ATP content in cerebral tissue and activity of nitric oxide synthetase (NOS) in cerebral cells were measured.Results At the same DHCA time,groups with RSA and SVC had milder hypoxia changes of brain ultrastructure than that of groups with no cerebral perfusion.The lactate content and activity of cerebral NOS in groups with RSA and SVC were significantly lower than those in the groups with no cerebral perfusion (P<0.05), and ATP content in cerebral tissue were significantly higher (P<0.05).There were no significant differences between SVC group and RSA group in all of the indexes after DHCA for 45 min.After DHCA for 90 min,the ATP content in cerebral tissue in RSA group (2.02±0.19) μmol/g was significantly higher than that in SVC group [(1.72±0.21) μmol/g,P<0.05].Conclusion For the profit of brain protection,perfusion via RSA is a better way than retrograde perfusion via SVC during long period of DHCA.2 refs,3 tabs.展开更多

To study the role of sodium nitroprusside in preventing pulmonary ischemia-reperfusion injury and the possible mechanism.Methods Fourteen pigs were randomly divided into 2 groups:control group underwent controlled rep...To study the role of sodium nitroprusside in preventing pulmonary ischemia-reperfusion injury and the possible mechanism.Methods Fourteen pigs were randomly divided into 2 groups:control group underwent controlled reperfusion with reperfusion solution (leukocyte-depleting blood:modified buckberg perfusate=4∶1) for 10 min at lower pressure of 18 mm Hg and 37 ℃±1 ℃ before removing the pulmonary artery clamp;experimental group were subjected to controlled reperfusion with reperfusion solution before removing the pulmonary artery clamp,followed by infusion of sodium nitroprusside (10 μg·kg -1 ·min -1 for 10 min) via pulmonary artery.Blood oxygen pressure,pulmonary vascular resistance,pulmonary compliance and the changes in pulmonary oxygenation function were assessed 0.5,1 and 2 h later.After the trail,the contents of water,NO and MDA in pulmonary tissues were measured.Results In the experimental group,left lung oxygenation function and pulmonary compliance was significantly better (P<0.01),pulmonary vascular resistnace,the contents of MDA and water were lower than in the control group.The content of NO in experimental group (114.41±6.77)μmol/L was significantly increased as compared with that in control group (56.67±7.42)μmol/L,(P<0.01).Conclusion Sodium nitroprusside can significantly attenuate pulmonary ischemia-reperfusion injury by significantly increasing the level of NO in lung tissue.5 refs,1 tab.展开更多

To investigate feasibility of differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into cardiomyoctes.To establish a new therapeutic way for heart myocardial infarction.Methods MSCs,which were separated from bone marrow,i...To investigate feasibility of differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into cardiomyoctes.To establish a new therapeutic way for heart myocardial infarction.Methods MSCs,which were separated from bone marrow,induced by 5-azacytidine for 24 hours after being cultured and proliferated.The expression of alpha-sarcomeric actin was observed after additional 14 days and 21 days,respectively.The cultured MSCs were transplanted into the myocardial infarction site and results were observed by histological methods.Ultrasound was also used to detect the ventricular wall movement and heart function.Results The expression of alpha-sarcomeric actin was observed in part of the MSCs induced by 5-azacytidine and cultured for 21 days.Spontaneous beating of the cells was also witnessed.4 weeks later,some MSCs that were transplanted into the acute myocardial infarction site had been differentiated into cardiomyocytes with typical sarcomeres and postive expression of alpha-sarcomeric actin.Conclusion MSCs can be differentiated into cardiomyocytes.7 refs,4 figs,1 tab.展开更多

Methods The clinical data of 27 patients with primary cardiac tumors which detected by echocardiography from May 1999 to May 2009 was analyzed retrospectively. There were 20 male and 7 female patients,aged from 24 d to 12. 6 years. There were 59. 2% less than 1 year old at the time of diagnosis. 文摘To investigate feasibility of differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into cardiomyoctes.To establish a new therapeutic way for heart myocardial infarction.Methods MSCs,which were separated from bone marrow,induced by 5-azacytidine for 24 hours after being cultured and proliferated.The expression of alpha-sarcomeric actin was observed after additional 14 days and 21 days,respectively.The cultured MSCs were transplanted into the myocardial infarction site and results were observed by histological methods.Ultrasound was also used to detect the ventricular wall movement and heart function.Results The expression of alpha-sarcomeric actin was observed in part of the MSCs induced by 5-azacytidine and cultured for 21 days.Spontaneous beating of the cells was also witnessed.4 weeks later,some MSCs that were transplanted into the acute myocardial infarction site had been differentiated into cardiomyocytes with typical sarcomeres and postive expression of alpha-sarcomeric actin.Conclusion MSCs can be differentiated into cardiomyocytes.7 refs,4 figs,1 tab.
