We designed and fabricated two types of binary diffractive lenses using Electron beam lithography (EBL) on optical films film for controlling LED light. In the case of the binary diffractive convex lens with 2-mm focal length, it is possible to control the luminous intensity distribution. To improve the diffraction efficiency and realize a thin LED light source, the binary diffractive lenses with 100-μm-order focal length are effective. Furthermore we fabricated and characterized the binary diffractive concave lenses for application in LED lighting. It is found that white-light LEDs are strongly diffused by using the binary diffractive concave lenses. 展开更多

Lithium-ion batteries are considered the substantial electrical storage element for electric vehicles(EVs). The battery model is the basis of battery monitoring, efficient charging, and safety management. Non-linearmodelling is the key to representing the battery and its dynamic internal parameters and performance. This paperproposes a smart scheme to model the lithium-polymer ion battery while monitoring its present charging currentand terminal voltage at various ambient conditions (temperature and relative humidity). Firstly, the suggestedframework investigated the impact of temperature and relative humidity on the charging process using the constantcurrent-constant voltage (CC-CV) charging protocol. This will be followed by monitoring the battery at thesurrounding operating temperature and relative humidity. Hence, efficient non-linear modelling of the EV batterydynamic behaviour using the Hammerstein-Wiener (H-W) model is implemented. The H-W model is considered ablack box model that can represent the battery without any mathematical equivalent circuit model which reducesthe computation complexity. Finally, the model beholds the boundaries of the charging process, not affecting onthe lifetime of the battery. Several dynamic models are applied and tested experimentally to ensure theeffectiveness of the proposed scheme under various ambient conditions where the temperature is fixed at40°C and the relative humidity (RH) at 35%, 52%, and 70%. The best fit using the H-W model reached 91.83% todescribe the dynamic behaviour of the battery with a maximum percentage of error 0.1 V which is in goodagreement with the literature survey. Besides, the model has been scaled up to represent a real EV and expressedthe significance of the proposed H-W model. 展开更多

One of the limitations of using OFDM technique is its higher PAPR in the time domain signal. The higher PAPR OFDM signal would cause the fatal degradation of BER performance and undesirable spectrum regrowth in the nonlinear channel. One of the promising PAPR reduction methods for OFDM signal is the Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) method which can achieve better PAPR performance with reasonable computation complexity. However the PTS method is required to inform the phase coefficients of PTS as the side information to the receiver for the correct demodulation of data information through the data or separate channels. To simplify the transceiver of OFDM system with the PTS method, the phase coefficients of PTS are usually embedded in the data information. However since the phase coefficients of PTS are obtained after the PTS processing only for the data information at each OFDM symbol, it is hard to embed the phase coefficients of PTS in the data information separately without degradation of PAPR performance. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new PAPR reduction method based on the packet-switched transmission systems in which all the clusters within the certain number of OFDM symbols have the sequential cluster ID numbers embedded in the header of each cluster. The salient features of the proposed method are to reduce the PAPR performance by re-ordering of clusters (ROC) in the frequency domain at the transmitter and to reconstruct the original ordering of clusters by using the cluster ID number demodulated from each cluster at the receiver. This paper also proposes a reduction technique of computation complexity for the proposed ROC method by using the feature of IFFT processing. This paper presents various computer simulation results to verify the effectiveness of the proposed ROC method with the reduction technique of computation complexity. 展开更多

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), it is essential to save energy consumption at sensor nodes (SNs). A clustering technique is one of the approaches to save energy consumption, where several neighboring SNs form a cluster and transmit the sensed data to their cluster head (CH), and then the CH sends the aggregated data to a sink node. Under spatial non-uniform traffic environments, the clustering technique causes the non-uniformity in data gathering performance and energy consumption between clusters in WSNs. In this paper, we propose a clustering scheme for the WSNs employing IEEE802.15.4 beacon enabled mode under various non-uniform traffic environments. The proposed scheme distributes network traffic uniformly to the clusters through cluster area control by adjusting beacon transmission power, and thereby achieves uniform and improved data gathering performance. In the clusters with expanded area, however, the performance degradation arises from long distance communications. To solve this problem, the proposed scheme controls transmission power at SNs. In addition, to reduce energy consumption the proposed scheme sets the appropriate active period length in duty cycle operation to the current traffic condition. The performance evaluations by computer simulation show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme for the WSNs under various non-uniform traffic environments. 展开更多
