But if an eye surgery must be made to some individuals,it may be rejected by iris recognition system as imposters after the surgery,because the iris pattern was altered or damaged somewhat during surgery and cannot match the iris template stored before the surgery. In this paper,we originally discuss whether refractive surgery for vision correction(LASIK surgery) would influence the performance of iris recognition. And experiments are designed and tested on iris images captured especially for this research from patients before and after refractive surgery. Experiments showed that refractive surgery has little influence on iris recognition.展开更多

It is necessary and of practical significance to apply VR to the ear micro-operation, which is a functional operation with high precision and great difficulties. AIM: To evaluate the effects of intravitreal conbercept(IVC) as adjunctive treatments before panretinal photocoagulation(PRP) to decrease hyperreflective dots(HRDs) in Chinese proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR) p...AIM: To evaluate the effects of intravitreal conbercept(IVC) as adjunctive treatments before panretinal photocoagulation(PRP) to decrease hyperreflective dots(HRDs) in Chinese proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR) patients. METHODS: Fifty-nine enrolled patients were categorized into 2 groups: single dose IVC(0.5 mg/0.05 m L) 1 wk before PRP(Plus group) or PRP only(PRP group). Six months later, we measured the best corrected visual acuity(BCVA), central macula thickness(CMT) by optical coherence tomography and counted the number of HRDs in different retina layers. RESULTS: The average CMT significantly decreased in Plus group but increased in PRP group. The average BCVA in the Plus group was also significantly better than that in the PRP group. Total HRDs decreased in the Plus group but increased in PRP group significantly. IVC pre-treatment has beneficial effects on reducing HRDs forming in the inner retina layer while the PRP alone increased the HRDs in the outer retina layer. CONCLUSION: IVC is a promising adjunctive treatment to PRP in the treatment of PDR. Single dose IVC one week before PRP is suggested to improve retina blood-retina barrier, decrease lipid exudate and inhibit HRDs development in PDR.展开更多

The coding regions of the RS1 gene that encode retinoschisin were amplified by polymerase chain reaction and directly sequenced. ·RESULTS: The proband showed a typical phenotype of XLRS with large peripheral retinal schisis in both eyes,involving the macula and combined with foveal cystic change,reducing visual acuity. A typical phenotype of recurrent glaucoma with high intraocular pressure(IOP) and reduced visual field was also demonstrated with the patient. Mutation analysis of RS1 gene revealed R102W(c.304C】T) mutations in the affected male,and his mother was proved to be a carrier with the causative mutation and another synonymous polymorphism(c.576C】CT). ·CONCLUSION: We identified the genetic variations of a Chinese family with typical phenotype of XLRS and glaucoma. The severe XLRS phenotypes associated with R102W mutations reveal that the mutation determines a notable alteration in the function of the retinoschisin protein. Identification of the disease-causing mutation is beneficial for future clinical references.展开更多
AIM: To analyze the reasons that may lead to the different vision result by combining the ranibizumab and triamcinolone acetate(TA) in sequence to treat macular edema in retinal vein occlusion(RVO).METHODS: Rani...AIM: To analyze the reasons that may lead to the different vision result by combining the ranibizumab and triamcinolone acetate(TA) in sequence to treat macular edema in retinal vein occlusion(RVO).METHODS: Ranibizumab and TA were combined in sequence to treat 43 patients with macular edema secondary to RVO.Six months after the treatment,patients with central fovea thickness(CFT) less than 300 μm in optical coherence tomography(OCT) were collected into Groups I and II,based on vision acuity(VA) better than 78 letters or less than 60 letters.The age,baseline VA,duration from onset to treatment,CFT at the baseline,sub-retinal fluid(SRF),sub-foveal exudates and injection times of TA and ranibizumab were taken into comparison.RESULTS: The mean age of the subjects was 46.4y in Group I but 57.5y in Group II.The difference of age was significant between groups(P〈0.01).The mean baseline VA was 51.4 letters in Group I and 43.9 letters in Group II(P〈0.05).The baseline CFT were 670.9 μm in Group I with SRF in 54.3% patients and 678.1 μm in Group II with SRF in 52.9%(P〉0.05).The mean number of injections of TA was 0.9 and the mean number of injections of ranibizumab was 2.3 in Group I but 1.7 and 2.9 respectively in Group II.The treatment times of ranibizumab had no difference between the 2 groups(P〉0.05) but the difference of TA injection times was significant(P〈0.05).Subfoveal exudates at final stage happened in no subjects in Group I but in 45.83% subjects in Group II.CONCLUSION: This combined treatment is safer than TA injection and cheaper than ranibizumab injection alone.Younger patients and earlier treatment will help to get better vision outcome.Subfoveal exudates at the final stage have significant relationship with vision outcome.No relationship existed between the baseline CFT,SRF and the vision outcome.展开更多

Single-crystal-like TiO2 mesoporous microspheres have been reported with high photocatalytic activity under ultraviolet light (UV light) because of their high specific surface areas and single-crystal-like channel w...Single-crystal-like TiO2 mesoporous microspheres have been reported with high photocatalytic activity under ultraviolet light (UV light) because of their high specific surface areas and single-crystal-like channel walls. In this work, plasmonic gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) and fl-NaYF4: Yb3+, Er3+ upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) were composited with single-crystal-like TiO2 mesoporous microspheres through a series of facile approaches, aiming at broadening response region of solar light from UV to visible and near infrared light and enhancing the photocata- lyric activity further. The structure was rationally designed by modifying the pore size of TiO2 mesoporous micro- spheres so as to anchor plasmonic Au NPs, and covering β-NaYF4: Yb3+, Er3+ with SiO2 in order to embed UCNPs into TiO2 mesoporous microspheres via hydrophilic interaction. This work studied the attribution of Au NPs and UCNPs to photocatalysis and found out that combining Au NPs and certain amount of UCNPs with single-crystal- like TiO2 mesoporous microspheres in a monolithic architecture would bring enhanced broadband photocatalytic activity under simulated solar light. Consequently, the composite photocatalyts containing 150 mg UCNPs showed a significant enhancement in reaction rate, which was 36.02% higher than commercial P25 and 85.09% higher than pure TiO2 mesoporous microspheres under simulated solar light.展开更多
