This paper introduces a new enhanced Arabic stemming algorithm for solving the information retrieval problem, especially in medical documents. Our proposed algorithm is a light stemming algorithm for extracting stems and roots from the input data. One of the main challenges facing the light stemming algorithm is cutting off the input word,to extract the initial segments. When initiating the light stemmer with strong initial segments, the final extracting stems and roots will be more accurate. Therefore,a new enhanced segmentation based on deploying the Direct Acyclic Graph(DAG)model is utilized. In addition to extracting the powerful initial segments, the main two procedures(i.e.,stems and roots extraction),should be also reinforced with more efficient operators to improve the final outputs. To validate the proposed enhanced stemmer, four data sets are used. The achieved stems and roots resulted from our proposed light stemmer are compared with the results obtained from five other well-known Arabic light stemmers using the same data sets. This evaluation process proved that the proposed enhanced stemmer outperformed other comparative stemmers. 展开更多

This work investigates the economic, social, and environmental impact of adopting different smart lighting architectures for home automation in two geographical and regulatory regions: Algiers, Algeria, and Stuttgart, Germany. Lighting consumes a considerable amount of energy, and devices for smart lighting solutions are among the most purchased smart home devices. As commercialized solutions come with variant features, we empirically evaluate through this study the impact of each one of the energy-related features and provide insights on those that have higher energy saving contribution. The study started by investigating the state-of-the-art of commercialized ICT-based light control solutions, which allowed the extraction of the energy-related features. Based on the outcomes of this study, we generated simulation scenarios and selected evaluations metrics to evaluate the impact of dimming, daylight harvesting, scheduling, and motion detection. The simulation study has been conducted using EnergyPlussimulation tool, which?enables fine-grained realistic evaluation. The results show that adopting smart lighting technologies have a payback period of few years and that the use of these technologies has positive economic and societal impacts, as well as on the environment by considerably reducing gas emissions. However, this positive contribution is highly sensitive to the geographical location, energy prices, and the occupancy profile. 展开更多

Complex and distributed systems are more and more associated with the application of WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) technology. The design of such applications presents important challenges and requires the assistance of several methodologies and tools. Multi-Agent systems (MAS) have been identified as one of the most suitable technologies to contribute to this domain due to their appropriateness for modeling distributed and autonomous complex systems. This work aims to contribute in the help of the design of WSN applications. The proposed architecture exploits the advantages of MAS for modeling WSN services, network topologies and sensor device architectures. 展开更多

Web service composition is one of the challenging issues that have been investigated over the past decade. It consists of combining and reusing existing Web services to best suit new user requirements. This paper proposes an UML profile to compose Web services based on their behavioral aspects. To do so, the web service WSDL files are first transformed to UML models;then the profile is used to integrate them;finally the MDA approach is adopted to transform the applied profile into a BPEL process. As such, our method has the advantages of being independent of the Web service composition language and the UML modeling tool. Finally, a case study is developed in order to show the benefits of our method. 展开更多
