The results show that the stainless steel EAF ...This study analyzes the feasibility of using stainless steel electric arc furnace (EAF) slag as composite cement admixture and the risk of leaching-out of heavy metals. The results show that the stainless steel EAF slag, mainly made up of Ca2 SiO4, Ca3 Mg ( SiO4 ) 2, some Cr-containing minerals and in small particle size, is easily ground and has cementitious activity. EAF slag, when used as cement admixture, can be added with a maximum percentage of 32%. It can meet the strength requirements of the standard P · C 32.5 cement. When the mixing percentage is decreased to 25 % , the strength of the cement can be increased to that of P · C 42.5 cement. Other main quality indexes of composite cement, such as the setting time and stability, also satisfy standard requirements. The results also show that most of the heavy metals in the stainless steel EAF slag exist in a stable speciation. The concentration of heavy metals that leach out from the stainless steel EAF slag and the composite cement products is far lower than the standard limit of hazardous wastes. The main heavy metal, chromium, exists as less hazardous trivalent chromium. Therefore, the risk of heavy metals leaching out from the stainless steel EAF slag is low. The internal exposure index (IRa) and the external exposure index (Iγ) of the stainless steel EAF slag are both lower than 1.0, satisfying the standard requirements of the state for the radionuclides of building materials. Therefore, stainless steel EAF slag can be safely used as admixture to produce composite cement.展开更多

As shown by the research results, after the two-stage process treatment, the effluent water can steadily reach the emission standards, the sludge yield can be decreased by more than 8% ; within the heavy metal-contained sludge, the recovery rates of Fc,Cr and Ni can either reach or surpass 95% ,and the total content ofF and S can drop to around 3%. Therefore,the sludge in the front part can be used as ferric dust. In the calcium salt sludge ,the recovery rate of F can either reach or surpass 85% ,and the total contents of Fe,Cr and Ni can fall below 0.5%. So the sludge in the rear part can be used as fluorgypsum or fluorite. Meanwhile,the results of the analysis on heavy metals leaching toxicity and morphologic distribution indicate that the two kinds of sectionalized sludge are not classified as hazardous wastes, which have a stable behavior and better utilization values compared with the former mixed- sludge.展开更多

The research indicates that the concentrations of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and NO3 -N in the water are the lowest when the recycle ratio is 3:1 ,but the removal efficiency of total cyanide (TCN) is the highest when the recycle ratio is 1: 1. The removal efficiency of NH4^+ -N is more than 99% at all three different recycle ratios. Compared with Grade A of the National Discharge Standard (GB 8978--1996), the effluent NH4 -N is standard,but COD and TCN can not meet the requirements and further treatment processes are needed.展开更多

The results show that the dust removal efficiency of the previous system that had conventional water nozzles was only 69% with a liquid-gas ratio of 0.79 L/m^3 ,while the dust removal efficiency reached 94% when three sets of high-efficiency dual phase spray guns were installed inside both the flue and the chimney. For the latter system,the liquid-gas ratio was 0. 84 L/m^3 ,and the dust concentration in the cleaned emissions reduced to less than 40 mg/m^3.展开更多
Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography coupled with time-of-flight mass spectrometry ( GC x GC- TOFMS) was applied to the quick qualitative analysis of 17 types of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and fur...Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography coupled with time-of-flight mass spectrometry ( GC x GC- TOFMS) was applied to the quick qualitative analysis of 17 types of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and furans (PCDD/Fs) from the iron ore sintering process. The GC x GC-TOFMS parameters were evaluated and optimized to yield a complete separation for the 17 types of PCCD/Fs from interference and to the attainment of high sensitivity. After optimization, all the 17 types of PCCD/Fs were separated within 42.5 min. The critical and most toxic tetrachlorodibenzo- p-dioxin (TCDD) detection can be up to 0.5 ~g/L. The method was used to analyze real fly ash samples. Accurate identification and determination of all the analyses were by GC x GC, mass spectrum library and ion ratio. The technique is thought to be a substitute for and a supplement to high resolution gas chromatography/high resolution mass spectrometry (HRGC/HRMS) in the field of dioxin analysis.展开更多

Main contents and achievements of the pilot experiment and the engineering practice of Baosteel FGD are analyzed and discussed systematically. Past engineering practice experiences indicate that Baosteel FGD has the following merits: wide applicability to sintering flue gas features, such as frequently changing temperatures, unstable SO2 concentration, intensively fluctuating flow rates ,etc. ,high pollutants removal efficiency ,low investment and energy consumption; stable and reliable operation ,utilizable byproduct (gypsum), etc. It indicates that Baosteel sintering FGD is of extensive application value for the FGD of large and medium-scaled sintering machines.展开更多
