Further development of our differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)method for the analysis of solid-solid phase transformations now also allows for its application in the kinetic analysis of age hardening in Mg alloys.As a result,the state-of-the-art for DSC on Mg alloys has been improved with respect to the accessible temperature range,zero-level accuracy and dynamic range.DSC analysis was performed on the example of Mg wrought alloy WE43.Heating DSC experiments on the initial condition T4 and even direct continuous cooling DSC analysis on the kinetics of quench induced precipitation during cooling from solution treatment were possible,covering a dynamic range of 0.01-3 K/s.The DSC findings are discussed with respect to literature knowledge and scanning electron microscopy analysis of the defined heat treatment states. 展开更多

The analyses are based on various non-Gaussian network models for rubber elasticity, some of which were proposed very recently. Results are presented in terms of predicted torque vs. twist curves and axial force vs. twist curves. In some cases, the predicted stress distributions are also given. The sensitivity of the second-order axial force to the employed models is considered. The predicted results are compared with experimental results found in the literature. 展开更多

Numerical simulation tools based on potential-flow theory and/or Morison’s equation are widely used for predicting the hydrodynamic responses of floating offshore wind platforms.In general,these simplified approaches are used for the analysis under operational conditions,albeit with a carefully selected approach to account for viscous effects.Nevertheless,due to the limit hydrodynamic modelling to linear and weakly nonlinear models,these approaches severely underpredict the low-frequency nonlinear wave loads and dynamic responses of a semisubmersible.They may not capture important nonlinearities in severe sea states.For the prediction of wave-induced motions and loads on a semisubmersible,this work systematically compares a fully nonlinear viscous-flow solver and a hybrid model combining the potential-flow theory with Morison-drag loads in steep waves.Results show that when nonlinear phenomena are not dominant,the results obtained by the hybrid model and the high-fidelity method show reasonable agreement,while larger discrepancies occur for highly nonlinear regular waves.Specifically,regular waves with various steepness over different frequencies are focused in the present study,which supplements the understanding in applicability of these two groups of method. 展开更多
