With the continuous development and progress of economy, people's living standard and culture level have been improved, but with it,there are also various kinds of life stress, study stress and work stress, which make people's mental health problems in life more andmore prominent, and how to improve students'mental health level is the main task of each education stage. The current psychology discipline system has been perfected, including personality psychology and social psychology, which are effectively applied in the actual mental health education or psychological guidance work, and are key disciplines to improve people's mental health. The theoretical system of personality and social psychology consists of three theories:the theory of planned behavior, the theory of explanatory levels, and the theory of self-determination,all of which have an irreplaceable influence on mental health. In this regard, this paper combines relevant literature and work experience to study in depth the influence of personality ansocial psychology on mental health. 展开更多

Background Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder(ADHD)is one of the most frequently diagnosed psychiatric conditions in children and adolescents.Although the symptoms appear to be well described,no coherent conceptual mechanistic framework integrates their occurrence and variance and the associated problems that people with ADHD face.Aims The current study proposes that altered event segmentation processes provide a novel mechanistic framework for understanding deficits in ADHD.Methods Adolescents with ADHD and neurotypically developing(NT)peers watched a short movie and were then asked to indicate the boundaries between meaningful segments of the movie.Concomitantly recorded electroencephalography(EEG)data were analysed for differences in frequency band activity and effective connectivity between brain areas. Results Compared with their NT peers, the ADHD group showed less dependence of their segmentation behaviour on social information, indicating that they did not consider social information to the same extent as their unaffected peers. This divergence was accompanied by differences in EEG theta band activity and a different effective connectivity network architecture at the source level.Specifically,NT adolescents primarily showed error signalling in and between the left and right fusiform gyri related to social information processing, which was not the case in the ADHD group. For the ADHD group, the inferior frontal cortex associated with attentional sampling served as a hub instead, indicating problems in the deployment of attentional control. Conclusions This study shows that adolescents with ADHD perceive events differently from their NT peers,in association with a different brain network architecture that reflects less adaptation to the situation and problems in attentional sampling of environmental information. The results call for a novel conceptual view of ADHD,based on event segmentation theory. 展开更多

Because of factors such as energy and time one invests in an object, the stronger the connection, value, and reluc-tance to lose said object individual will have.Hoarding behavior arises when individuals incorporate a strong attachment with themselves to an object. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of self-investment on hoarding tendency and the roles of possession-self link and liking level in this connection.A hypothetical model of the relationship between self-investment,possession-self link, liking level, and hoarding tendency was tested.A convenience sampling method was used to survey 450 college students in Yunnan Province on either a paper-based or online self-report scale. The data were collected using self-investment,possession-self link, and liking level questionnaires,as well as the Saving Inventory Revised. Results showed positive relationship between the study variables, ranging from 0.37 to 0.87.College students’self-investment had a direct positive pre-dictive effect on hoarding tendency;self-investment,in turn, indirectly predicted hoarding tendency through the mediating effect of possession-self link;and individual liking level of items had a moderating effect for self-invest-ment on the possession-self link. This study shows how self-investment affects the hoarding tendency of college students, and the results of this study also help demonstrate the value of self-investment and possession-self link in optimizing students’hoarding tendency and thus promoting good psychological status. 展开更多

Background:With the development of information technology, mobile phone has brought much convenience to people’s lives but also caused many negative consequences due to excessive use, such as mobile phone addiction and nomophobia.Previous studies have explored the relationship between the Big Five Personality and proble-matic mobile phone use(PMPU).However, they focus on mobile phone addiction.Although there is a correlation between nomophobia and mobile phone addiction, the psychological structure is different. Therefore,it is neces-sary to explore the relationship between personality and nomophobia and the underlying mechanism. This study aims to examine the relationship between Big Five Personality and nomophobia, then construct a moderated mediation model to explore the mediation effect of solitude between Big Five Personality and nomophobia,as well as the moderation effect of self-esteem.Method:Data from 678 college students(351 females,51.77%)were collected.Participants completed the Big Five Personality Inventory,Solitude Behavior Scale,Nomophobia Scale and Self-esteem Scale.Analyses were conducted via mediation and moderated mediation. Results:Structural equation models revealed that solitude mediated the relationship between neuroticism and nomophobia. The results showed that neuroticism positively predicted solitude, which in turn positively predicted nomophobia.Four types of solitude partially mediated the relationship between neuroticism and nomophobia. We also found that self-esteem moderated the association between neuroticism and non-self-determined solitude. It is note-worthy that high self-esteem cannot protect people from negative factors. However, because of its characteristics,it is easy to receive more social information, and people high in neuroticism are sensitive to negative social infor-mation.It may cause maladaptive behavior. Conclusion:Findings demonstrated a process through which neu-roticism relates to nomophobia and a context under which these relationships may have occurred. 展开更多

Religion is one of the social entities that has had a significant impact on the pandemic. The study’s goals are to investigate the relationship between well-being and fear of COVID-19,as well as to test whether religious beliefs mediate the effect of wellbeing on fear of COVID-19.The sample comprised of 433 participants in Vietnam.Independent Sample t-Test,One-way ANOVA,mediation analysis were used to analyze the data.In the levels of well-being,individuals who engage in religious services daily have higher levels than those hardly and never attend, and people from the age of 18 to 30 have higher levels than individuals from 31 to above 60 years. In addition, people aged from 51 to above 60 have higher levels of religious beliefs than people aged from 18 to 50.Females experience more fear of COVID-19 compared to males. The latter illustrates that religious beliefs mediate the effect of well-being on fear of COVID-19.Social workers and clinicians must prioritize older adults and people with chronic diseases for early mental interventions, and they should be aware of the role of religion in psychological treatment integration. 展开更多

According to studies, neuroinflammation is increasingly being linked to the development of major depressive disorder(MDD).In response to inflammatory stimuli, brain microglia, which are immune cells, can change into reactive states.Because of this, microglia play an essentiall role in the early stages of neuroinflammation.Experiments have shown that microglia are able to detect infected or damaged cells, which then activates a cytotoxic response that further exacerbates the harm to brain cells. It has been proven that microglia are quite good at recognizing infections and damaged cells.Microglia,on the other hand, have been found to respond in a number of ways to injury and may even help regenerate damaged tissues.Chronic activation of microglia has been observed in persons with MDD.Deficits in neuroplasticity have been linked to depression, and recent studies show that this may be related to changes in microglia shape and function brought on by either excessive inflammatory activity or the natural aging process.Changing the phenotype of microglia by regulation of inflammatory pathways may be necessary for harnessing neuroinflammation in MDD.Recent research has linked several microglial phenotypes to individual metabolic pathways, showing that energy metabolism plays a pivotal role in coordinating microglial activity. In this study,we investigate whether or not traditional pro-inflammatory,anti-inflammatory,and metabolic pathways in microglia can be used as novel therapeutic routes for regulating neuroinflammation in brain diseases. The focus of this essay is on MDD,although we will also discuss related mental health issues. 展开更多

At this stage, with the continuous improvement of the quality of life and education, students at all levels of education are facing great pressure of learning and competition in life.If these pressures are not relieved orsolved in a timely manner, the lighter they affect daily life and learning, the more serious they cause mental health problems such as depression and anxiety, and even the horrible idea of ending their lives prematurely. Therefore, educators must pay great attention to students'learning status and mental health, and if students are found to have bad learning attitudes, they must promptly understand the causes of their balearning attitudes and,on that basis, develop and implement effective psychologicalguidance and mental health education programs to alleviate students'learning stress and mental health problems. In social psychology, students'behavior is the main influencing factor of learning mental health, behavior and mental health have a close relationship, through student behavior patterns and changes in learning attitudes can understand the psychological characteristics and health status of students. Therefore, many educators analyze the causes of students'poor learning attitudes based on socialpsychology, and develop and implement effective mental health education countermeasures to improve and transform poor learning attitudes. 展开更多

Background Methamphetamine (MA) is one of the most commonly abused illicit psychostimulant drugs and MA use disorder constitutes a universal health concern across the world. Despite many intervention approaches to MA use disorder, the indicator of addiction severity is mainly limited to subjective craving score to drug-related cues, which is influenced by many factors such as social approval and self-masking. Aim The present study investigates whether self-reported craving for drug use in response to MA cues is a reliable indicator for addiction severity in MA users, and then tests the validity of the cue-induced attention bias test in addiction severity assessment. Methods Fifty-two male MA users completed the cueinduced craving test and attention bias task, and were required to report clinical characteristics of addiction severity. For the attention bias test, subjects were required to discriminate the letter superimposed onto MA userelated or neutral scenes. The reaction time delay during MA-use condition relative to neutral condition was used as an index of the attention bias. Results The results showed that 24 of the 52 MA users rated non-zero in cue-induced craving test, and they showed a significant attention bias to drug-related pictures. However, the other 28 users who rated zero in cue-induced craving evaluation showed a similar attention bias to drug-related cues. In addition, the attention bias to MA use-related cues was significantly and positively correlated with the clinical indexes of addiction severity, but the relationship was absent between subjective craving evaluation and the indexes of addiction severity. Conclusion These results suggest that attention bias to MA cues may be a more reliable indicator than experiential craving report, especially when subjective craving is measured in the compulsory rehabilitation centre. 展开更多

However, there is increasing evidence to indicate that arousal may be more relevant at some stages of affective processing. The present study employed a combined priming and cue-target paradigm and examined event-related potentials (ERPs) in order to explore the effects of emotional conflict of arousal on attention allocation. The background context of arousal was manipulated (using photos of facial expressions) while subjects performed a cognitive task in which a central arrow cue indicated the location of a peripheric target square, and a response was made according to the direction of the square. There was no main effect between incongruent emotion and congruent emotion in the response time, which means the resolution of the emotional conflict facilitate the participant behavioral response. There was a main effect of different emotional states on ERP component. In the present study, incongruent arousal also triggered greater positive potential compared with congruent arousal. 展开更多
