Forecasting travel demand requires a grasp of individual decision-making behavior.However,transport mode choice(TMC)is determined by personal and contextual factors that vary from person to person.Numerous characteris...Forecasting travel demand requires a grasp of individual decision-making behavior.However,transport mode choice(TMC)is determined by personal and contextual factors that vary from person to person.Numerous characteristics have a substantial impact on travel behavior(TB),which makes it important to take into account while studying transport options.Traditional statistical techniques frequently presume linear correlations,but real-world data rarely follows these presumptions,which may make it harder to grasp the complex interactions.Thorough systematic review was conducted to examine how machine learning(ML)approaches might successfully capture nonlinear correlations that conventional methods may ignore to overcome such challenges.An in-depth analysis of discrete choice models(DCM)and several ML algorithms,datasets,model validation strategies,and tuning techniques employed in previous research is carried out in the present study.Besides,the current review also summarizes DCM and ML models to predict TMC and recognize the determinants of TB in an urban area for different transport modes.The two primary goals of our study are to establish the present conceptual frameworks for the factors influencing the TMC for daily activities and to pinpoint methodological issues and limitations in previous research.With a total of 39 studies,our findings shed important light on the significance of considering factors that influence the TMC.The adjusted kernel algorithms and hyperparameter-optimized ML algorithms outperform the typical ML algorithms.RF(random forest),SVM(support vector machine),ANN(artificial neural network),and interpretable ML algorithms are the most widely used ML algorithms for the prediction of TMC where RF achieved an R2 of 0.95 and SVM achieved an accuracy of 93.18%;however,the adjusted kernel enhanced the accuracy of SVM 99.81%which shows that the interpretable algorithms outperformed the typical algorithms.The sensitivity analysis indicates that the most significant parameters influencing TMC are the age,total trip time,and the number of drivers.展开更多

Overcoming the global sustainability challenges of logistics requires applying solutions that minimize the negative effects of logistics activities.The most efficient way of doing so is through intermodal transportati...Overcoming the global sustainability challenges of logistics requires applying solutions that minimize the negative effects of logistics activities.The most efficient way of doing so is through intermodal transportation(IT).Current IT systems rely mostly on road,rail,and sea transport,not inland waterway transport.Developing dry port(DP)terminals has been proven as a sustainable means of promoting and utilizing IT in the hinterland of seaport container terminals.Conventional DP systems consolidate container flows from/to seaports and integrate road and rail transportation modes in the hinterland which improves the sustainability of the whole logistics system.In this article,to extend literature on the sustainable development of different categories of IT terminals,especially DPs,and their varying roles,we examine the possibility of developing DP terminals within the framework of inland waterway container terminals(IWCTs).Establishing combined road–rail–inland waterway transport for observed container flows is expected to make the IT systems sustainable.As such,this article is the first to address the modelling of such DP systems.After mathematically formulating the problem of modelling DP systems,which entailed determining the number and location of DP terminals for IWCTs,their capacity,and their allocation of container flows,we solved the problem with a hybrid metaheuristic model based on the Bee Colony Optimisation(BCO)algorithmand themeasurement of alternatives and ranking according to compromise solution(i.e.,MARCOS)multi-criteria decision-making method.The results from our case study of the Danube region suggest that planning and developingDP terminals in the framework of IWCTs can indeed be sustainable,as well as contribute to the development of logistics networks,the regionalisation of river ports,and the geographic expansion of their hinterlands.Thus,the main contributions of this article are in proposing a novel DP concept variant,mathematically formulating the problems of its modelling,and developing an encompassing hybrid metaheuristic approach for treating the complex nature of the problem adequately.展开更多

In addition, the methodology is demonstrated by means of detailed calculation of the lateral runway excursion risk value during the landing of the aircraft Airbus A310-200, in view of the maximum landing weight and the appropriate range of landing velocities according to the International Civil Aviation Organization specification. Obviously, the calculation demonstrates that the developed math solutions and equations presented herein are powerful tools to evaluate the risk of lateral runway excursion of the majority of aircrafts and for any airport. The method is also applicable to assess the residual level of risk at any specific airport and its deviation compared to the recommended safety level. Consequently, the presented mathematical solutions to determine the risk rate of lateral runway excursion during landing offers airports’ operational and safety management departments a viable tool so that appropriate measurements could be adopted. Risk assessment is a crucial component of collision warning and avoidance systems for intelligent vehicles.Reachability-based formal approaches have been developed to ensure driving safety to accurately detect potenti...Risk assessment is a crucial component of collision warning and avoidance systems for intelligent vehicles.Reachability-based formal approaches have been developed to ensure driving safety to accurately detect potential vehicle collisions.However,they suffer from over-conservatism,potentially resulting in false–positive risk events in complicated real-world applications.In this paper,we combine two reachability analysis techniques,a backward reachable set(BRS)and a stochastic forward reachable set(FRS),and propose an integrated probabilistic collision–detection framework for highway driving.Within this framework,we can first use a BRS to formally check whether a two-vehicle interaction is safe;otherwise,a prediction-based stochastic FRS is employed to estimate the collision probability at each future time step.Thus,the framework can not only identify non-risky events with guaranteed safety but also provide accurate collision risk estimation in safety-critical events.To construct the stochastic FRS,we develop a neural network-based acceleration model for surrounding vehicles and further incorporate a confidence-aware dynamic belief to improve the prediction accuracy.Extensive experiments were conducted to validate the performance of the acceleration prediction model based on naturalistic highway driving data.The efficiency and effectiveness of the framework with infused confidence beliefs were tested in both naturalistic and simulated highway scenarios.The proposed risk assessment framework is promising for real-world applications.展开更多

The simulation tools allow the design and verification of various evacuation planning scenarios with minimisation of costs and time. The paper provides detailed presentation of the basic characteristics of microscopic simulation of traffic flows, as well as examples of their implementation worldwide. The characteristics of the software tools are described through an overview of the basic settings ofPTV VISSIM (Planung Transport Verkehrin Stadten--Simulations model) program as one of the most significant representatives of these tools. The necessity of implementing the traffic tools in evacuation results from the crucial role of traffic in reducing the consequences of emergencies. These tools allow also a detailed analysis of the output data in order to select a suitable solution. The concluding part of the paper presents an example of evacuation of the population through the Jankomir node as part of the European project "preparedness for evacuation in case of a nuclear accident". Forecasting period is two hours and the estimation is based on historical data and real time data on traffic conditions. Travel time estimation combines multivariate regression, principal component analysis, KNN (k-nearest neighbours), cross validation and EWMA (exponentially weighted moving average) methods. When comparing estimation methodologies, relevantly better results were achieved by KNN method than with EWMA method. It means that in overloaded and poorly connected MPLS/DS networks the CR (Constraint-based Routing) becomes insufficient technique. If traffic engineering is supported with ap-propriate traffic load control the congestion possibility can be predicted before the utilization of guaranteed service. In that sense the initial (proactive) routing can be pre-computed much earlier, possible during SLA (Service Level Agreement) negotiation. In the paper a load simulation technique for load balancing control purpose is proposed. It could be a very good solution for congestion avoidance and for better load-balancing purpose where links are running close to capacity. To be acceptable for real application such complicated load control technique needs very effective algorithm. Proposed algorithm was tested on the network with maximum M core routers on the path and detail results are given for N=3 service classes. Further improve-ment through heuristic approach is made and results are discussed. Some heuristic options show significant complexity savings that is appropriate for load control in huge networks.展开更多

文摘The paper discusses minimizing the effect of external mechanical vibration on hydraulic valves in different military hydraulic drive systems.The current research work presents an analysis of the potential to reduce vibration on the valve casing by installing a valve flexibly on a vibrating surface,i.e.,by introducing a material with known stiffness and damping characteristics between the valve casing and the vibrating surface-a steel spring package or special cushions made of elastomer material or of oilresistant rubber.The article also demonstrates that elastomer cushions placed inside the valve casingbetween the casing and the centering springs-can be used as a supplementary or alternative solution in the analyzed method for mitigating the transfer of vibrations.By using materials with appropriately selected elastic and dissipative properties,the effectiveness of vibro-isolation can be increased.The presented theoretical analyzes by linear and non-linear mathematical models have been verified experimentally.
文摘Overcoming the global sustainability challenges of logistics requires applying solutions that minimize the negative effects of logistics activities.The most efficient way of doing so is through intermodal transportation(IT).Current IT systems rely mostly on road,rail,and sea transport,not inland waterway transport.Developing dry port(DP)terminals has been proven as a sustainable means of promoting and utilizing IT in the hinterland of seaport container terminals.Conventional DP systems consolidate container flows from/to seaports and integrate road and rail transportation modes in the hinterland which improves the sustainability of the whole logistics system.In this article,to extend literature on the sustainable development of different categories of IT terminals,especially DPs,and their varying roles,we examine the possibility of developing DP terminals within the framework of inland waterway container terminals(IWCTs).Establishing combined road–rail–inland waterway transport for observed container flows is expected to make the IT systems sustainable.As such,this article is the first to address the modelling of such DP systems.After mathematically formulating the problem of modelling DP systems,which entailed determining the number and location of DP terminals for IWCTs,their capacity,and their allocation of container flows,we solved the problem with a hybrid metaheuristic model based on the Bee Colony Optimisation(BCO)algorithmand themeasurement of alternatives and ranking according to compromise solution(i.e.,MARCOS)multi-criteria decision-making method.The results from our case study of the Danube region suggest that planning and developingDP terminals in the framework of IWCTs can indeed be sustainable,as well as contribute to the development of logistics networks,the regionalisation of river ports,and the geographic expansion of their hinterlands.Thus,the main contributions of this article are in proposing a novel DP concept variant,mathematically formulating the problems of its modelling,and developing an encompassing hybrid metaheuristic approach for treating the complex nature of the problem adequately.
文摘This article presents a methodology to determine the risk of aircrafts lateral runway excursion during landing via mathematical risk modeling. In addition, the methodology is demonstrated by means of detailed calculation of the lateral runway excursion risk value during the landing of the aircraft Airbus A310-200, in view of the maximum landing weight and the appropriate range of landing velocities according to the International Civil Aviation Organization specification. Obviously, the calculation demonstrates that the developed math solutions and equations presented herein are powerful tools to evaluate the risk of lateral runway excursion of the majority of aircrafts and for any airport. The method is also applicable to assess the residual level of risk at any specific airport and its deviation compared to the recommended safety level. Consequently, the presented mathematical solutions to determine the risk rate of lateral runway excursion during landing offers airports’ operational and safety management departments a viable tool so that appropriate measurements could be adopted. Finally, it is a methodology not only to assess the risk but also to determine the appropriate runway width.

文摘Risk assessment is a crucial component of collision warning and avoidance systems for intelligent vehicles.Reachability-based formal approaches have been developed to ensure driving safety to accurately detect potential vehicle collisions.However,they suffer from over-conservatism,potentially resulting in false–positive risk events in complicated real-world applications.In this paper,we combine two reachability analysis techniques,a backward reachable set(BRS)and a stochastic forward reachable set(FRS),and propose an integrated probabilistic collision–detection framework for highway driving.Within this framework,we can first use a BRS to formally check whether a two-vehicle interaction is safe;otherwise,a prediction-based stochastic FRS is employed to estimate the collision probability at each future time step.Thus,the framework can not only identify non-risky events with guaranteed safety but also provide accurate collision risk estimation in safety-critical events.To construct the stochastic FRS,we develop a neural network-based acceleration model for surrounding vehicles and further incorporate a confidence-aware dynamic belief to improve the prediction accuracy.Extensive experiments were conducted to validate the performance of the acceleration prediction model based on naturalistic highway driving data.The efficiency and effectiveness of the framework with infused confidence beliefs were tested in both naturalistic and simulated highway scenarios.The proposed risk assessment framework is promising for real-world applications.
文摘Food Waste(FW)is a pressing environmental concern that affects every country globally.About one-third of the food that is produced ends up as waste,contributing to the carbon footprint.Hence,the FW must be properly treated to reduce environmental pollution.This study evaluates a few available Food Waste Treatment(FWT)technologies,such as anaerobic digestion,composting,landfill,and incineration,which are widely used.A Bipolar Picture Fuzzy Set(BPFS)is proposed to deal with the ambiguity and uncertainty that arise when converting a real-world problem to a mathematical model.A novel Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation-Stable Preference Ordering Towards Ideal Solution(CRITIC-SPOTIS)approach is developed to objectively analyze FWT selection based on thirteen criteria covering the industry’s technical,environmental,and entrepreneurial aspects.The CRITIC method is used for the objective analysis of the importance of each criterion in FWT selection.The SPOTIS method is adopted to rank the alternative hassle-free,following the criteria.The proposed model offers a rank reversal-free model,i.e.,the rank of the alternatives remains unaffected even after the addition or removal of an alternative.In addition,comparative and sensitivity analyses are performed to ensure the reliability and robustness of the proposed model and to validate the proposed result.

文摘This socialized environment among educated and developed people causes themto focusmore on their appearance and health,which turns them towards medical-related treatments,leading us to discuss anti-aging treatment methods for each age group,particularly for urban people who are interested in this.Some anti-aging therapies are used to address the alterations brought on by aging in human life without the need for surgery or negative effects.Five anti-aging therapies such as microdermabrasion or dermabrasion,laser resurfacing anti-aging skin treatments,chemical peels,dermal fillers for aged skin,and botox injections are considered in this study.Based on the criteria of safety risk,investment cost,customer happiness,and side effects,the optimal alternative is picked.As a result,a NormalWiggly Hesitant Pythagorean Fuzzy Set(NWHPFS)is constructed and used in Multi-Criteria Decision-Making(MCDM)using traditional wavy mathematical approaches.The entropy approach is utilized to determine weight values,and the Normal Wiggly Hesitant Pythagorean-VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje(NWHPF-VIKOR)method is utilized to rank alternatives using MCDM methodologies.Sensitivity analysis and comparative analysis were performed to ensure the robustness and reliability of the proposed method.The smart final choice will undoubtedly assist Decision Makers(DM)in making the right judgments,and the MCDM approach will undoubtedly assist individuals in understanding the medicine.
文摘The paper considers the response to the accumulated energy in the resistor (R)-capacitor (C) circuit. In the (RC) circuit, the capacitor C is initially charged with the “capacitive” voltage U0. At that moment t=0, the P circuit switch turns on. By using Kirchhoff’s laws on the elements, a homogeneous differential equation of the first order with constant coefficients is obtained with the initial condition UC(0)=U0. The solution of the differential equation is presented in exponential form UC(t)=U0⋅e−t/τ. Qualitative analysis RC of the circuit gives a phase portrait on the line. From the phase portrait on the line, it can be seen that the charge UC(t)→UC∗=0when t→∞stabilizes, regardless of the initial conditions. It is shown that from UC(t)=U0⋅e−t/τa dynamic system defined by the function φ(t,UC)=UC⋅e−t/τcan be formed from. It has also been shown that, from the formed dynamic system, an autonomous system (circuit equation RC) can be found whose solution describes the formed dynamic system. It is also shown that the dynamic system φ(t,UC)=UC⋅e−t/τhas one attractive fixed point UC=0.
文摘The system of public bicycles in the world known as"Bicycle sharing",is a service in which bicycles are made available for shared use to individuals with or without a certain fee.Users can take and return the bike at numerous locations in the urban parts of the city.As part of the CIVITAS ELAN project(2008-2012),which was aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens by establishing high-quality solutions in city traffic and to promote and encourage sustainable,clean and energy-efficient modes of traffic,a pilot project of student public bicycle(Studocikl)was implemented at the University of Zagreb.In the first phase the pilot project included the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences(FTTS)where is currently implemented.In the second phase the project is planned to include the remaining faculties located at the Borongaj Campus.The idea behind the Studocikl project is to connect two remote locations of FTTS,between headquarters in Vukelićeva Street and Borongaj Campus.Registration(login,logout)of users and the entire administration is done through a web portal.Time of using bicycles is in the period from 8 am to 8 pm(working hours of FTTS).Studocikl was officially put into operation on the 17 September 2012 and in this paper will analyse its one-year operation.The paper will also make proposals for further Studocikl development in terms of:installing GPS trackers for satellite bicycle tracking,the application for smartphones,full automation of the registration,and explore the possibility of extending such service and modes of transportation at all faculties in the University of Zagreb.
文摘The paper presents the possibilities of implementing micro-simulation traffic tools in order to develop the evacuation plans. Well elaborated evacuation plans are the basis for alleviating the consequences resulting from emergencies. The simulation tools allow the design and verification of various evacuation planning scenarios with minimisation of costs and time. The paper provides detailed presentation of the basic characteristics of microscopic simulation of traffic flows, as well as examples of their implementation worldwide. The characteristics of the software tools are described through an overview of the basic settings ofPTV VISSIM (Planung Transport Verkehrin Stadten--Simulations model) program as one of the most significant representatives of these tools. The necessity of implementing the traffic tools in evacuation results from the crucial role of traffic in reducing the consequences of emergencies. These tools allow also a detailed analysis of the output data in order to select a suitable solution. The concluding part of the paper presents an example of evacuation of the population through the Jankomir node as part of the European project "preparedness for evacuation in case of a nuclear accident". The evacuation was performed through three scenarios in circumstances of higher or lower transport demand.

In that regard, the calibration and validation of simulation model is crucial for appropriate decision making process. This paper presents an application of microscopic simulation model calibration and validation procedure for a multimodal urban traffic network. Model is developed by VISSIM and VISSIG software tools.
文摘Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) integrates information and communication technologies with location based technologies into roads, vehicles, traffic and transport management systems. Application of ITS can improve situation in major cities where due to the increasing number of residents and level of motorization traffic congestion represents important issue. Another problem arises from this facts and that is that cities have contradictory needs as grooving need for goods within urban areas as well as need for less vehicles in the same area. The urban logistics activities by private companies within urban areas represent an integral part of city logistics that aims to improve the efficiency of urban freight transportation, reduce traffic congestion, mitigate environmental impacts, reduce costs and fuel consumption. This research presents application of ITS technologies and vehicle routing problem for night delivery scheme planning as one of the core techniques for modelling city logistics.
文摘This paper describes procedure for estimation of travel time on signalized arterial roads based on multiple data sources with application of dimensionality reduction. Travel time estimation approach incorporates forecast of transportation nodes impendence and travel time on network links. Forecasting period is two hours and the estimation is based on historical data and real time data on traffic conditions. Travel time estimation combines multivariate regression, principal component analysis, KNN (k-nearest neighbours), cross validation and EWMA (exponentially weighted moving average) methods. When comparing estimation methodologies, relevantly better results were achieved by KNN method than with EWMA method. This is true for every time interval considered except for evening time interval when signalized arterial roads were uncongested.
文摘In structural elements strengthened with Fiber Reinforced Polymer(FRP),debonding failure modes should be taken into consideration.Under specific circumstances,they may provoke a global,premature failure of the structural element.In other cases,they should be accounted for in the modeling in order to obtain more accurate results.Despite the large amount of research work carried out in this field in the last few decades,debonding failure modes are still not fully understood.This contribution is focused on a numerical procedure designed to model the progressive loss of bond action between FRP and concrete.The two-stage procedure is integrated into incremental,finite element analysis.The proposed algorithm uses experimentally obtained slip-stress relationship.Predefined failure criteria are used to predict the local bond failure.In the reported case study,an experimental set-up widely employed to investigate debonding is modeled.Results obtained by finite element analysis are discussed.
文摘The purpose of the study is to assess what the influence of the distance of the gap is between the wing and slotted flap on the aerodynamic characteristics of ultra-light aircraft wing when the flap is retracted. It has been elected numerical approach to the study and it is been realized through applied numerical model of the wing airfoil NACA 2412 for three different lengths of slotted gap size, whose length is expressed as percentages of the airfoil chord. The code ANSYS FLUENT has been applied, as it has been determined RANS (Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes) equations and DES (detached-eddy simulation) turbulent model has been used.

文摘Anti-slip control systems are essential for railway vehicle systems with traction.In order to propose an effective anti-slip control system,adhesion information between wheel and rail can be useful.However,direct measurement or observation of adhesion condition for a railway vehicle in operation is quite demanding.Therefore,a proportional–integral controller,which operates simultaneously with a recently proposed swarm intelligencebased adhesion estimation algorithm,is proposed in this study.This approach provides determination of the adhesion optimum on the adhesion-slip curve so that a reference slip value for the controller can be determined according to the adhesion conditions between wheel and rail.To validate the methodology,a tram wheel test stand with an independently rotating wheel,which is a model of some low floor trams produced in Czechia,is considered.Results reveal that this new approach is more effective than a conventional controller without adhesion condition estimation.
文摘In end-to-end QoS provisioning some bandwidth portions on the link may be reserved for certain traffic classes (and for particular set of users) so the congestion problem of concurrent flows (traversing the network simultaneously) can appear. It means that in overloaded and poorly connected MPLS/DS networks the CR (Constraint-based Routing) becomes insufficient technique. If traffic engineering is supported with ap-propriate traffic load control the congestion possibility can be predicted before the utilization of guaranteed service. In that sense the initial (proactive) routing can be pre-computed much earlier, possible during SLA (Service Level Agreement) negotiation. In the paper a load simulation technique for load balancing control purpose is proposed. It could be a very good solution for congestion avoidance and for better load-balancing purpose where links are running close to capacity. To be acceptable for real application such complicated load control technique needs very effective algorithm. Proposed algorithm was tested on the network with maximum M core routers on the path and detail results are given for N=3 service classes. Further improve-ment through heuristic approach is made and results are discussed. Some heuristic options show significant complexity savings that is appropriate for load control in huge networks.
文摘A fire alarm system(FAS)is a system comprising signalling-alarm devices,which automatically detect and transmit information about fire,but also receivers of fire alarms and receivers for damage signals.Fire alarm systems function in different environmental conditions.During operation they should be in state of fitness.This is determined by the reliability of the assembled units and rational management of the operation process.Therefore a reliability and operational analysis of fire alarm systems as a whole is essential.This article presents an authorial model and an operational and reliability analysis of FAS,which is exploited in a transport building.It also demonstrates relationships occurring in the analysed system,where to an addressable fire alarm central unit with detection loops and control-monitoring loops alarm device lines(with monitored relay outputs for actuation of alarm-signalling devices)were connected.Research and analysis of results for representative FAS,which were exploited in similar environmental conditions,were conducted in order to determine operational and reliability parameters of the investigated system.FAS computer simulation was run during the time t=1 year of safety system operation.This led to the calculation of the probability value of the analysed FAS staying in the examined operational states.
文摘This article predicts Southeast Asia’s logistics needs from a Southeast Asian logistics development perspective. This is not only an important prerequisite for supporting Southeast Asia’s trade policy, but also promoting the development of Southeast Asia’s logistics industry, building logistics infrastructure and improving the level of logistics services. Due to differences in economic development levels, trade structures, infrastructure construction and logistics development levels of Southeast Asian countries. Therefore, considering the actual situation of Southeast Asian countries, this article selected 21 cities in Southeast Asia as the research object. Use L-OD logistics demand forecasting method to forecast logistics demand in Southeast Asia. Obtain the amount of logistics occurrence and attraction in 21 cities in Southeast Asia in the future. And construct a double constrained gravity model to predict logistics distribution in Southeast Asia. The forecast results provide scientific data support for future logistics development planning in Southeast Asia.
