Research on College English Classroom Construction Based on Semantic Wave

In this paper,the influence of English teaching methods and teachers’behaviors on students’learning in China is discussed.Through analysis,it is found that classroom discourse practice plays a significant role in teaching plan and teaching content.Therefore,in the research based on discourse practice and belief,a college English classroom promotion model is constructed from the perspective of semantic wave based on three dimensions(individual factors,situational factors,and overall factors),providing a scientific basis for the development of college English teaching in China and a valuable reference for curriculum reform and teaching plan formulation.

Simultaneous Interpreting Output Assessment of Earnings Conference Call: Case Analysis of Tencent 2022 Q3 Result Announcement

Quality in simultaneous interpreting is a frequently discussed concept. In the enterprise setting, earnings conference call remains a rarely explored field. This thesis offers a descriptive study on assessing interpreting quality from perspectives of fidelity, fluency, and appropriacy. As the corpus, Tencent 2022 Third Quarter Result Announcement provides an ideal transcript to the author to conduct its analysis. Interpreting is frequently done without bearing in mind the multitude of factors that can affect the quality of interpreting. Drawing a conclusion that the interpreter does make a lot of omissions, pauses and hesitations posing a negative effect on the fidelity, fluency and accuracy of the interpreting, the present author suggests that more preparation should be done for improving performance, such as terminologies, company background information, a reasonable speech rate, good image and acoustic quality, and so on.

Research on the Construction of College English Diversified Learning Assessment System under the O2O Teaching Model

The O2O (Online to Offline) teaching model integrates online and offline teaching deeply, breaking the inherent mode of traditional teaching and bringing new opportunities for higher education teaching reform. The evaluation of subject diversity can improve the quality of evaluation results and put forward higher requirements for evaluation organizers. The O2O mixed teaching model combining online and offline learning is expected to be a feasible way to improve current classroom teaching and improve students' learning performance. In practical teaching, online knowledge internalization can not solve puzzles in learning through interaction in time. One of the important parts of the reform of foreign language assessment is to re-recognize and re-orientate the subject of evaluation, emphasizing the pluralism of the subject of evaluation. Starting from the problems faced by college English teaching both in and out of class, this paper discusses the validity and feasibility of the college English O2O teaching mode in the light of the new situation of the development of online education.

Evaluation of College English Test

There has been much heated discussion on College English Test for non-English majors Band 4 and Band 6 because it has exerted great influence on English teaching in Chinese universities. This essay is intended to explore the reliability, validity,practicality and washback of this large-scale test by focusing on CET Band 4. The author of this report discusses the merits as well as some existing problems of this test and offers some suggestions at the end of the essay.

Study of the affective interaction in college English teaching

Affect plays a significant role in college English teaching and learning, in which teachers, learners, tasks and contexts or environments interact with each other, developing a system of affective interaction. In the system, the teacher is a facilitator and mediator and the learner is the subject of English learning. In a harmonious and friendly classroom environment, with the knowledge transmission blending in well with the cultivation of affect, attitudes and values, students＇ cognitive and emotional development can be promoted. The experimental results of the present study indicated that students in the affective college English classroom did significantly better （p〈 .05） in cognition than before. Furthermore, the analyses of the two surveys showed that attention to affective interaction in college English teaching helped students enhance their interest in college English learning, cross-cultural awareness, self-confidence, interpersonal intelligence, and so forth. Therefore, our conclusion is that attention to affective interaction in college English classroom teaching is conducive to students＇ personal growth and a more holistic development.

On Beijing Dialect Translation from the Perspective of Domestication and Foreignization --A Case Study of Shi Xiaojing＇ s English Version of Luotuo Xiangzi

In Lao She＇s works, the use of the Beijing dialect has a strong local characteristic, and readers can fully appreciate the essence of old Beijing＇ s flavor. His famous work Luotuo Xiangzi has embodied the characteristics of Beijing, that is why it is popular among both the public and mmslators. Threrfore, it is significant to study the English translation of Luotuo Xiangzi. Shi Xiaojing has the background of living abroad, and she has also been influenced by Chinese culture. So, her translation ofLuotuo Xiangzi is worth analyzing. This paper will analyze some examples of Beijing dialect in Shi Xiaojing＇s English Version of Luotuo Xiangzi by using the theory of domestication and foreignization to make a summary and to identify deficiencies.

Investigating Learner Engagement in Flipped English as a Foreign Language Classroom

Flipped classroom is an innovative instructional method. Recenttechnological developments have given rise to the popularity of flippedclassroom. This study reports the findings of a questionnaire survey thatinvestigates learners’ perceptions of flipped EFL (English as a ForeignLanguage) classroom, with a particular focus on their self-perceived learnerengagement. The results of the study indicate that the learners generallyhave positive and favorable attitudes toward flipped classroom. Seventyfivepercent of them consider flipped classroom useful in boosting theirconfidence in learning English and 50.6% think that they have becomemore interested in the course. Yet, it is also found that only 30.1% agreethat flipped method has helped them to understand the course content moreclearly. In addition, as high as 71.6% of the respondents agree that theflipped method can increase their motivation to participate in classroomlearning activities, but only 44.9% believe that their engagement hasbeen raised. While the results show that the students tend to accept thisnew teaching method, their evaluation of the actual effects of it is notas expected, which may be due to the lack of guidance and the weakconnection between online self-study and classroom activities. Futurestudies are needed to explore how to strengthen these areas.

The Construction and Implementation of a Compound Foreign Language Talent Training Model

With increasing global exchanges and cooperation,there is an increasing demand for foreign language interdisciplinary talents.The cultivation of interdisciplinary foreign language talents is a long-term,complicated methodical endeavor,which requires constant exploration by experts in foreign language circles.In order to cultivate compound foreign language talents in colleges and universities,it is important to change the educational concept,enhance the teaching staff,and innovate the talent training mode.In the training of compound foreign language talents in colleges and universities,a compound talent training model of“foreign language+major or direction”should be established,and beginning from the actual situation of the major,the bold exploration and implementation of the transformation of the concept of compound foreign language talent training should be followed through,while strengthening the construction of teaching staff,optimizing the professional curriculum,updating the teaching content,as well as enriching the methods and measures of teaching.

An Intervention Study of Language Cognition and Emotional Speech Community Method for Children’s Speech Disorders

Speech disorders are a common type of childhood disease.Through experimental intervention,this study aims to improve the vocabulary comprehension levels and language ability of children with speech disorders through the language cognition and emotional speech community method.We also conduct a statistical analysis of the inter-ventional effect.Among children with speech disorders in Dongguan City,224 were selected and grouped accord-ing to their receptive language ability and IQ.The 112 children in the experimental group(EG)received speech therapy with language cognitive and emotional speech community,while the 112 children in the control group(CG)only received conventional treatment.After six months of experimental intervention,the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-Revised(PPVT-R)was used to test the language ability of the two groups.Overall,we employed a quantitative approach to obtain numerical values,examine the variables identified,and test hypotheses.Further-more,we used descriptive statistics to explore the research questions related to the study and statistically describe the overall distribution of the demographic variables.The statistical t-test was used to analyze the data.The data shows that after intervention through language cognition and emotional speech community therapy,the PPVT-R score of the EG was significantly higher than that of the CG.Therefore,we conclude that there is a significant difference in language ability between the EG and CG after the therapy.Although both groups improved,the post-therapy language level of EG is significantly higher than that of CG.The total effective rate in EG is higher than CG,and the difference is statistically significant(p<0.05).Therefore,we conclude that the language cogni-tion and emotional speech community method is effective as an interventional treatment of children’s speech dis-orders and that it is more effective than traditional treatment methods.

Differences in chlorophyll fluorescence parameters and water content in heteromorphic leaves of Populus euphratica from Inner Mongolia, China

We studied three typical heteromorphic leaves of Populus euphratica trees growing in the Wuhai region of Inner Mongolia,China,i.e.,lanceolate,broad-ovate and dentate broad-ovate leaves and mainly focused on the changes in chlorophyll fluorescence parameters and free water and bound water content.The results show that the values of Fm（maximal fluorescence yield）,Fv/Fm（maximum photochemical quantum yield of PSII） and Fv/F0（potential quantum efficiency of PSII） of lanceolate leaves were the least on young trees,while these parameters were the least on the ovate leaves of old trees.Compared with young trees,the free water content of heteromorphic leaves of old trees increased significantly,i.e.,by 78.94% in lanceolate leaves and in the leaves of broad-ovate and dentate broad-ovate by 10.99% and 10.60%,respectively.Correlation analysis showed that free water content is significantly related to Fv/Fm and Fv/F0 in young trees,while the relationship of total water content with Fv/Fm and Fv/F0 is positive in old trees.

Recent advances in cobalt-, nickel-, and iron-based chalcogen compounds as counter electrodes in dye-sensitized solar cells

The electroactive materials used in the counter electrode(CE)are of great concern as they influence the photovoltaic performances of dye-sensitized solar cells.The main functions of CE materials are collecting electrons from the external circuit and transferring them to the electrolyte and realizing the catalytic reduction of the redox species(I3^– or Co^3+)present in the electrolyte.The research hotspot of CE materials is seeking functional materials that display high efficiency,low cost,and good electrochemical stability and can substitute the benchmark platinum electrode.Chalcogen compounds of cobalt,nickel,and iron have been widely applied as CE materials and exhibit excellent electrocatalytic performances owing to their unique electrical properties,similar energies of adsorption of I atoms as platinum,excellent catalytic activities,and good chemical stabilities.In this review,we trace the developments and performances of chalcogen compounds of iron,cobalt,and nickel as CE materials and present the latest research directions for improving the electrocatalytic performances.We then highlight the optimization strategies for further improving their performances,such as fabrication of architectures,regulation of the components,synthesis of composites containing carbon materials,and elemental doping.

Observation and Mechanism Exploration of Acupuncture on body Weight Reduction

Objective: To probe into the mechanism of acupuncture for weight reduction. Method: 50 cases of obesity were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group with 25 cases in each group. In the treatment group, electrical acupuncture and auricular-plaster therapy were adopted, while in the control group, Sibutramine Hydrochloride Capsules were orally given. Changes in the content of serum leptin were detected in both groups before and after treatment, and the clinical therapeutic effect was evaluated. Result: The total effective rate was 92.0% in the treatment group and 84.0% in the control group. The level of serum leptin after treatment obviously declined as compared to that before treatment in the 2 groups (P<0.01) with the treatment group superior to the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture treatment can effectively reduce the level of higher leptin in serum, which may be one of the mechanisms for acupuncture to reduce weight.
