Objective:To design and manufacture medical scrotal support shorts for patients with enlarged scrotum and observe its application and effect.Methods:40 patients with enlarged scrotum admitted to the basic surgery depa...Objective:To design and manufacture medical scrotal support shorts for patients with enlarged scrotum and observe its application and effect.Methods:40 patients with enlarged scrotum admitted to the basic surgery department from February 2021 to March 2023 were selected and divided into a test group and a control group according to their time of admission,with the test group using scrotal support shorts and the control group using ordinary shorts without scrotal support pockets or diapers.Results:The complication rate of skin injury in the scrotum and the surrounding inguinal area of the patients in the test group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.01).The medical cost covered by patients in the test group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.01)and the hospitalization satisfaction of the patients in the test group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.01).The difference in the therapeutic effect of the test groups was statistically significant when compared with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Homemade medical scrotal support shorts reduced the local enlargement of the scrotum and bleeding,but also protected the scrotum and the surrounding skin to prevent secondary injuries.The process of patient care was simple and promoted their recovery.The length of hospitalization was also decreased,the burden of health care costs was reduced,and the overall comfort and satisfaction of the patient was improved.展开更多
To investigate the effects of biochar addition(1 or 3%)to the soil of a China fir plantation with or without litter,we conducted a 90-day incubation experiment.We also studied the C and N dynamics and the microbial co...To investigate the effects of biochar addition(1 or 3%)to the soil of a China fir plantation with or without litter,we conducted a 90-day incubation experiment.We also studied the C and N dynamics and the microbial community structure of the soil.In soil without litter,the application of biochar at a rate of 3%significantly decreased CO2 emissions,while addition of 1%biochar had no effect.Biochar application did not affect the net N mineralization rate but significantly reduced the NH4?concentration after 90 days.In litter-enriched soil,biochar application had no significant effect on total CO2 emissions;however,application of 3%biochar significantly reduced the net N mineralization rate.Biochar application to soil with or without litter immediately reduced the dissolved organic carbon(DOC)concentration independent of the application rate,which was primarily due to sorption of DOC by the biochar.Phospholipid fatty acid analysis demonstrated that both concentrations of added biochar to soil(with or without litter)altered the soil microbial community structure at the end of incubation,although the effect of biochar was not as strong as the effect of time or litter application.The effect of biochar addition alone on microbial community structure was inconsistent over time.Litter added to soil significantly increased fungi and reduced Gram-positive bacteria.In the presence of litter,biochar applied at both 1%and 3%significantly increased(p<0.05)the proportion of actinomycete only at day 90.Our results indicate biochar as a potentially effective measure for C sequestration in the test soil of a China fir plantation,even in the presence of litter.展开更多

Methods: Expressions of Livin isoforms a, 13 and caspase-3 were detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay in lung cancer tissues as well as in controls. Results: Livin isoforms a and ~ were expressed in 12 of 27, and 19 of 27 lung cancer tissues respectively, much more than those in lung para-cancereus [both were (0/6)] or benign disease lung tissues (0/12, 1/12; P 〈 0.01 and P 〈 0.01 ). Moreover, they were detected in 7/14, 9/14 lung adenocarcinomas and 4/12, 9/12 squamocallular and large call carcinomas, respectively, and both showed expressions in one small cell carcinoma. The levels of these two isoforms in lung cancer were significantly higher than those in controls by Gel imaging system (P 〈 0.05 and P 〈 0.05), the former was higher in adenocarcinoma than that in squamocellular carcinoma (P 〈 0.05), while the latter was the same in both (P 〉 0.05). Meanwhile, the levels of caspase-3 in lung cancer were significantly lower than those in controls, and it was suggested to be negatively associated with either each of two isoforms or their sum (P 〈 0.05, P 〈 0.01 and P 〈 0.01). Acid rain has become a major concern due to increasing atmospheric pollution,particularly in China.We investigated whether acid rain inhibits the germination of seeds and subsequent emergence of seedling of four tree ...Acid rain has become a major concern due to increasing atmospheric pollution,particularly in China.We investigated whether acid rain inhibits the germination of seeds and subsequent emergence of seedling of four tree species from southern China:Cunninghamia lanceolata,Fokienia hodginisi,Pinus massoniana and Phoebe zhennan by simulating acid rain with pH of 2.5,3.5,4.5 and 5.5.We hypothesized that the inhibitory effect of acid rain on germination of seeds and emergence of seedling varies between species and the degree of acidity.A solution of 1 N H2SO4 and 1 N HNO 3 in the ratio of 10–1 was prepared and diluted to four pH levels,and seeds were supplied with solutions of these pH values and distilled water as control and tested for germination in a controlled growth chamber.The results revealed that simulated acid rain of pH 2.5 adversely affected the germination capacity of F.hodginisi and P.zhennan;while all acid solutions significantly increased germination of P.Massoniana;but had no effect on germination of C.Lanceolata seeds.Strong acid solution(pH of 2.5)adversely affected elongation of radicle and hypocotyl as well as fresh and dry weights of radicle and hypocotyl of tender seedlings.The result demonstrated that seedling emergence is more sensitive than seed germination to simulated acid rain,and germination of conifer species are less sensitive than broad leaved species to simulated acid rain.As a whole,acid rain of pH of 3.5 is the threshold level and acid rain below this value will have a detrimental effect on seed germination and seedling emergence.展开更多
A novel Co^Ⅱ-Fenton-like heterogeneous catalyst,(H3O)2[Co^Ⅱ(phen)(H2O)2]2[Mo^Ⅵ5O15(PO4)2]·4H2O (phen=1,10-phenanthroline,C12N2H8)(1),is synthesized and utilized for photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes a...A novel Co^Ⅱ-Fenton-like heterogeneous catalyst,(H3O)2[Co^Ⅱ(phen)(H2O)2]2[Mo^Ⅵ5O15(PO4)2]·4H2O (phen=1,10-phenanthroline,C12N2H8)(1),is synthesized and utilized for photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes and antibiotic in a wide range of pH.The experimental results show that 1 acting as the Fenton-like catalyst with H2O2 exhibits remarkable activity at pH 3–9 under vis-light irradiation and is merited with excellent recyclability and reusability.A variety of analytical methods,including in-situ electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) calculations,are applied to study the mechanism on generation of·OH and O2^·-radicals for photocatalytic degradation.It suggests that,unlike the classical Fenton process involving the redox transformation of the central cations,the generation of·OH and O2^·-radicals is associated with the substitution of the coordinating water molecules at Co(Ⅱ) by H2O2 and/or OOH^-,followed by the light-driven O–O bond cleavage and dissociation.The outcomes of this study are striking which overcome the obstacles in the classical Fe^Ⅱ-Fenton process,including the slow redox transformation between Fe(Ⅱ) and Fe(Ⅲ) and the production of massive iron precipitates especially at elevated pH.It opens up new avenues for the development of the high-performance Fenton(-like) catalysts for photocatalytic degradation over extended pH and provides new insight into the related process.展开更多
