A New Species of the Genus Boulenophrys(Anura,Megophryidae)from Eastern Guangdong,China

A new horned toad species,Boulenophrys elongata sp.nov.,is described from Mt.Lianhua,Huidong County,eastern Guangdong,China.The new species is phylogenetically closest to B.brachykolos,which is restricted to the east of the Pearl River Estuary(i.e.,Shenzhen City and Hong Kong SAR).The new species can be distinguished from all recognized congeners by a combination of morphological characters and genetic divergences in the combined mitochondrial 16S,12S and CO1 genes.We recommend the new species be listed as Data Deficient(DD)in the IUCN categorization,pending further investigation.

A Study of the Use and Translation of Archaic Functional Vocabulary in the Berne Convention

The archaic functional vocabulary is highly with the legal features of formality and conservativeness and still holding a place in legal English.The Berne Convention is a good example to study the use and translation of the archaic functional vocabulary.By studying what archaic functional words or phrases are used in the Berne Convention,their meanings and the different use frequencies of them between the Berne Convention and the Copy Right Law of PRC,it has been found that arhcaic adverbs are used of low frequency,while some adjectives or adjectival groups as well as some prepositions or prepositional phrases are used of high frequencies.The use frequencies of the archaic functional vocabulary is higher in the Berne Convention than those in the Copy Right law of PRC.Some suggestions can be put forward to help improve translating Chinese legal documents into English or writing English legal documents.

High-quality Development of the Pearl River Night Tour in the Context of Deep Integration of Culture and Tourism

Urban night tourism is a new form of urban tourism development and an important driving force for the prosperity of urban night economy.As the most prestigious business card among many night tour projects in Guangzhou,the Pearl River water night tour has contributed to the development of Guangzhou s night economy,which cannot be underestimated.However,in the process of rapid development,there are also problems such as diversified operators,insufficient integration of intangible cultural elements,excessive commercial attributes,issues of tourism facilities and service facilities.Under the new stage of integrated development of culture and tourism,how to use mutual promotion of culture and tourism in the Pearl River night tour to seek innovative paths for high-quality development in the future is the main problem expected to be solved in this paper.Therefore,based on the perspective of culture and tourism integration,this paper analyzes the general situation and development status of the Pearl River night tour,and proposes five development strategies:the overall planning of culture and tourism integration,the deep integration of intangible cultural elements,the balance of commercial attributes and tourism attributes,the high integration of culture,business,tourism and education,and the creation of tourism atmosphere,in order to provide inspiration for the healthy,orderly and high-quality development of the Pearl River night tour.

Can urban forests provide acoustic refuges for birds?Investigating the influence of vegetation structure and anthropogenic noise on bird sound diversity

As a crucial component of terrestrial ecosystems,urban forests play a pivotal role in protecting urban biodiversity by providing suitable habitats for acoustic spaces.Previous studies note that vegetation structure is a key factor influencing bird sounds in urban forests;hence,adjusting the frequency composition may be a strategy for birds to avoid anthropogenic noise to mask their songs.However,it is unknown whether the response mechanisms of bird vocalizations to vegetation structure remain consistent despite being impacted by anthropogenic noise.It was hypothesized that anthropogenic noise in urban forests occupies the low-frequency space of bird songs,leading to a possible reshaping of the acoustic niches of forests,and the vegetation structure of urban forests is the critical factor that shapes the acoustic space for bird vocalization.Passive acoustic monitoring in various urban forests was used to monitor natural and anthropogenic noises,and sounds were classified into three acoustic scenes(bird sounds,human sounds,and bird-human sounds)to determine interconnections between bird sounds,anthropogenic noise,and vegetation structure.Anthropogenic noise altered the acoustic niche of urban forests by intruding into the low-frequency space used by birds,and vegetation structures related to volume(trunk volume and branch volume)and density(number of branches and leaf area index)significantly impact the diversity of bird sounds.Our findings indicate that the response to low and high frequency signals to vegetation structure is distinct.By clarifying this relationship,our results contribute to understanding of how vegetation structure influences bird sounds in urban forests impacted by anthropogenic noise.

Patterns and drivers of avian taxonomic and phylogenetic beta diversity in China vary across geographical backgrounds and dispersal abilities

Geographical background and dispersal ability may strongly influence assemblage dissimilarity;however,these aspects have generally been overlooked in previous large-scale beta diversity studies.Here,we examined whether the patterns and drivers of taxonomic beta diversity(TBD)and phylogenetic beta diversity(PBD)of breeding birds in China vary across(1)regions on both sides of the Hu Line,which demarcates China’s topographical,climatic,economic,and social patterns,and(2)species with different dispersal ability.TBD and PBD were calculated and partitioned into turnover and nestedness components using a moving window approach.Variables representing climate,habitat heterogeneity,and habitat quality were employed to evaluate the effects of environmental filtering.Spatial distance was considered to assess the impact of dispersal limitation.Variance partitioning analysis was applied to assess the relative roles of these variables.In general,the values of TBD and PBD were high in mountainous areas and were largely determined by environmental filtering.However,different dominant environmental filters on either side of the Hu Line led to divergent beta diversity patterns.Specifically,climate-driven species turnover and habitat heterogeneity-related species nestedness dominated the regions east and west of the line,respectively.Additionally,bird species with stronger dispersal ability were more susceptible to environmental filtering,resulting in more homogeneous assemblages.Our results indicated that regions with distinctive geographical backgrounds may present different ecological factors that lead to divergent assemblage dissimilarity patterns,and dispersal ability determines the response of assemblages to these ecological factors.Identifying a single universal explanation for the observed pattern without considering these aspects may lead to simplistic or incomplete conclusions.Consequently,a comprehensive understanding of large-scale beta diversity patterns and effective planning of conservation strategies necessitate the consideration of both geographical background and species dispersal ability.

Innovation of governance model of local government in China:Reflections on the issue of River Chief System in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

Government-leading,multi-agent participation and coordinated co-governance are the original intentions of River Chief System governance policy design,the purpose is to really improve governance benefits of the River Chief System.Regrettably,the current research is still in its infancy,mainly based on theoretical analysis and case analysis.Whether government-leading,multi-agent participation and coordinated co-govemance can really improve the effectiveness of governance still lacks empirical testing.For this reason,based on the 241 questionnaires of the governance benefits of the River Chief System in Guangdong Province,this paper deeply analyzed the influence of the organizational level of the River Chief System on the governance benefits,and further studied the regulatory role of multi-agent participation.The results showed that there was an inverted“U”relationship between the organizational level of the River Chief System and the governance benefit,and multi-agent participation had no positive influence on the relationship between the organization level and the governance benefit.This paper has important enlightening significance for expanding the theory of River Chief System research and guiding the practice of government-leading governance policy of River Chief System.On the other hand,this paper can provide reasonable suggestions on environmental governance for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’s high-quality development.

CFM-UNet:A Joint CNN and Transformer Network via Cross Feature Modulation for Remote Sensing Images Segmentation

The semantic segmentation methods based on CNN have made great progress,but there are still some shortcomings in the application of remote sensing images segmentation,such as the small receptive field can not effectively capture global context.In order to solve this problem,this paper proposes a hybrid model based on ResNet50 and swin transformer to directly capture long-range dependence,which fuses features through Cross Feature Modulation Module(CFMM).Experimental results on two publicly available datasets,Vaihingen and Potsdam,are mIoU of 70.27%and 76.63%,respectively.Thus,CFM-UNet can maintain a high segmentation performance compared with other competitive networks.

Plant-Derived Enzymes Producing Chiral Aroma Compounds and Potential Application

Aroma(volatile)compounds play important ecological functions in plants,and also contribute to the quality of plant-derived foods.Moreover,chiral aroma compounds affect their functions in plants and lead to different flavor quality properties.Formations of chiral aroma compounds are due to the presence of enzymes producing these compounds in plants,which are generally involved in the final biosynthetic step of the aroma compounds.Here,we review recent progress in research on the plant-derived enzymes producing chiral aroma compounds,and their changes in response to environmental factors.The chiral aroma enzymes that have been reported produce(R)-linalool,(S)-linalool,(R)-limonene,and(S)-limonene,etc.,and these enzymes are found in various plant species.We also discuss the origins of enantioselectivity in the plant-derived enzymes producing chiral aroma compounds and summarize the potential use of plants containing enzymes producing chiral aroma compounds for producing chiral flavors/fragrances.

Oneε-Ga_(2)O_(3)-based solar-blind Schottky photodetector emphasizing high photocurrent gain and photocurrent-intensity linearity

Theε-Ga_(2)O_(3) thin film was grown on sapphire substrate by using metalorganic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD)method,and then was used to fabricate a deep-ultraviolet(DUV)photodetector(PD).Theε-Ga_(2)O_(3) thin film shown good crystal quality and decent surface morphology.Irradiated by a 254-nm DUV light,the photodetector displayed good optoelectronic performance and high wavelength selectivity,such as photoresponsivity(R)of 175.69 A/W,detectivity(D*)of 2.46×10^(15) Jones,external quantum efficiency(EQE)of 8.6×10^(4)%and good photocurrent-intensity linearity,suggesting decent DUV photosensing performance.At 5 V and under illumination with light intensity of 800μW/cm2,the photocurrent gain is as high as 859 owing to the recycling gain mechanism and delayed carrier recombination;and the photocurrent gain decreases as the incident light intensity increases because of the recombination of photogenerated carriers by the large photon flux.

Spillover effects and incentive initiatives of green behavior

Spillover effects play a crucial role in hindering the effective implementation of green behavior.Whether it pertains to enterprises or individuals,engaging in green behavior often leads to increased costs.However,the benefits derived from green behavior cannot be fully recouped but rather spill over and benefit other non-green entities,thereby undermining the incentives for companies or individuals to engage in green practices.The study categorizes the spillover effects of corporate green investment into three aspects based on the channels through which they occur:environmental spillover,inter-industry spillover(vertical spillover),and intra-industry spillover(horizontal spillover).While these three spillover mechanisms work in tandem with green behavior,existing literature has predominantly focused on the "free-rider " effect of environmental spillover and horizontal spillover,neglecting the impact of vertical spillover.Additionally,this paper provides a comprehensive review of measures aimed at incentivizing corporate green investment.Current government-level measures often overlook the multifaceted nature of spillover effects stemming from green behavior and the factors influencing corporate decision-making in this regard,resulting in various limitations and deficiencies.The paper argues that,besides relying solely on direct interventions from external actors such as the government or society,a more significant emphasis should be placed on enhancing the role of enterprises as a fundamental approach.This involves fostering the endogenous capacity of enterprises to generate green investment and facilitating a beneficial interaction that respects corporate autonomy.Consequently,policymakers should consider multiple dimensions of spillover effects and design appropriate mechanisms that leverage the inherent capabilities of enterprises,thus stimulating green investment.This approach represents a crucial area for future research that warrants further in-depth inve stigation.

Deep Learning to Find Key Brain Electrode Positions in Emotional EEG

At present, the channels used for EEG acquisition are more than 16, which makes it difficult to wear EEG caps and has poor contact. Therefore, it brings difficulties to the collection of brain waves is not conducive to converting research into applications. It is a well worth studying work in researching how to find the key brain electrode in the existing brain wave, which will greatly reduce the number of EEG acquisition points during application, making it easier to translate the research into practical application. This paper takes emotional EEG as an example to study how to find the key brain electrode points of emotional EEG with deep learning method. Firstly, using the least square regression algorithm to calculate the characteristic coefficients of each electrode point;secondly, according to the law of the characteristic coefficient value, grouping the key EEG poles for experiment. In the grouping experiment, the Conv1d-GRU model used to train and verify the EEG data of the corresponding electrode points. Finally, from the results of various grouping experiments, it concluded that the selection method of the key EEG level points should be the electrode points with positive characteristic coefficient, and the accuracy of verification is 97.6%. With experiments, it confirmed that there are key electrode points in the detection of emotional EEG by 16-channel OpenBCI. There are only six key electrode points of emotional EEG;that is to say, the EEG data collected by only six key electrode points can identify seven kinds of emotional EEG. .

Iteration dependent interval based open‐closed‐loop iterative learning control for time varying systems with vector relative degree

For linear time varying(LTV)multiple input multiple output(MIMO)systems with vector relative degree,an open‐closed‐loop iterative learning control(ILC)strategy is developed in this article,where the time interval of operation is iteration dependent.To compensate the missing tracking signal caused by iteration dependent interval,the feedback control is introduced in ILC design.As the tracking signal of many continuous iterations is lost in a certain interval,the feedback control part can employ the tracking signal of current iteration for compensation.Under the assumption that the initial state vibrates around the desired initial state uniformly in mathematical expectation sense,the expectation of ILC tracking error can converge to zero as the number of iteration tends to infinity.Under the circumstance that the initial state varies around the desired initial state with a bound,as the number of iteration tends to infinity,the expectation of ILC tracking error can be driven to a bounded range,whose upper bound is proportional to the fluctuation.It is revealed that the convergence condition is dependent on the feed-forward control gains,while the feedback control can accelerate convergence speed by selecting appropriate feedback control gains.As a special case,the controlled system with integrated high relative degree is also addressed by proposing a simplified iteration dependent interval based open‐closed‐loop ILC method.Finally,the effectiveness of the developed iteration dependent interval based open‐closed‐loop ILC is illustrated by a simulation example with two cases on initial state.

High-quality Development Path of Night Tourism in Guangzhou:A Case Study of Firefly Night Tour

Night tourism often involves a large number of lighting facilities,which consume a large amount of energy.Therefore,one of the unique low energy consumption natural ecological tourism activities—firefly night tour has attracted attention and become an important breakthrough point for night tourism in tourist destinations.In this paper,Guangzhou firefly night tour project is taken as the research object.Based on the comprehensive economic,environmental,and socio-cultural benefits brought by the development of firefly night tour,the resources distribution,current development status,and existing problems of firefly night tour in Guangzhou are analyzed,and its high-quality development paths are proposed from three levels:government,industry,and tourist.The aim is to explore a new model for the economic development of Guangzhou night tour,boosting the transformation and upgrading of the night tourism economy,while also providing reference ideas and value for the development of night tourism economy in other tourist destinations.

A Scheme Library-Based Ant Colony Optimization with 2-Opt Local Search for Dynamic Traveling Salesman Problem

The dynamic traveling salesman problem(DTSP)is significant in logistics distribution in real-world applications in smart cities,but it is uncertain and difficult to solve.This paper proposes a scheme library-based ant colony optimization(ACO)with a two-optimization(2-opt)strategy to solve the DTSP efficiently.The work is novel and contributes to three aspects:problemmodel,optimization framework,and algorithmdesign.Firstly,in the problem model,traditional DTSP models often consider the change of travel distance between two nodes over time,while this paper focuses on a special DTSP model in that the node locations change dynamically over time.Secondly,in the optimization framework,the ACO algorithm is carried out in an offline optimization and online application framework to efficiently reuse the historical information to help fast respond to the dynamic environment.The framework of offline optimization and online application is proposed due to the fact that the environmental change inDTSPis caused by the change of node location,and therefore the newenvironment is somehowsimilar to certain previous environments.This way,in the offline optimization,the solutions for possible environmental changes are optimized in advance,and are stored in a mode scheme library.In the online application,when an environmental change is detected,the candidate solutions stored in the mode scheme library are reused via ACO to improve search efficiency and reduce computational complexity.Thirdly,in the algorithm design,the ACO cooperates with the 2-opt strategy to enhance search efficiency.To evaluate the performance of ACO with 2-opt,we design two challenging DTSP cases with up to 200 and 1379 nodes and compare them with other ACO and genetic algorithms.The experimental results show that ACO with 2-opt can solve the DTSPs effectively.

Water molecules and oxygen-vacancy modulation of vanadium pentoxide with fast kinetics toward ultrahigh power density and durable flexible all-solid-state zinc ion battery

Aqueous zinc ion battery(ZIB)with many virtues such as high safety,cost-effective,and good environmental compatibility is a large-scale energy storage technology with great application potential.Nevertheless,its application is severely hindered by the slow diffusion of zinc ions in desirable cathode materials.Herein,a technique of water-incorporation coupled with oxygen-vacancy modulation is exploited to improve the zinc ions diffusion kinetics in vanadium pentoxide(V_(2)O_5)cathode for ZIB.The incorporated water molecules replace lattice oxygen in V_(2)O_5,and function as pillars to expand interlayer distance.So the structural stability can be enhanced,and the zinc ions diffusion kinetics might also be promoted during the repeated intercalation/deintercalation.Meanwhile,the lattice water molecules can effectively enhance conductivity due to the electronic density modulation effect.Consequently,the modulated V_(2)O_5(H-V_(2)O_5)cathode behaves with superior rate capacity and stable durability,achieving 234 mA h g^(-1)over 9000 cycles even at 20 A g^(-1).Furthermore,a flexible all-solid-state(ASS)ZIB has been constructed,exhibiting an admirable energy density of 196.6 Wh kg^(-1)and impressive power density of 20.4 kW kg^(-1)as well as excellent long-term lifespan.Importantly,the assembled flexible ASS ZIB would be able to work in a large temperature span(from-20 to 70℃).Additionally,we also uncover the energy storage mechanism of the H-V_(2)O_5 electrode,offering a novel approach for creating high-kinetics cathodes for multivalent ion storage.

Coupled Mode of Net Heat Flux and Wind Explain the Formation of the Indian Ocean Dipole

Net heat flux,sea surface temperature(SST),and sea surface wind in the northern Indian Ocean were investigated using the TropFlux,ERA5,and J-OFURO3 datasets and correlation analysis,power spectrum analysis,and singular value decomposition(SVD)methods,respectively.The relationships between net heat flux,SST,and sea surface winds were determined.The coupled modes of net heat flux and wind have been found to explain the SST variations in the Indian Ocean basin and the generation mechanism of the Indian Ocean Dipole(IOD).The correlation between net heat flux and wind is strongly negative.The SST lags the net heat flux and wind by approximately one month and has strong positive and negative correlations,respectively.The correlation between net heat flux and wind in the northern Indian Ocean is not only seasonal but also regionally dependent on seasonal variations.Using the SVD method,the important role of net heat flux in local sea-air interactions is discussed and identified as the initial perturbation that triggers the SST anomalies in the Southeast Indian Ocean,and the areas with key sea-air interactions and the generation mechanisms of the local sea-air interactions that form the IOD are determined.

Effects of Cooking Temperature and Storage Time on the Quality of Macadamia Nut Oil

The purpose is to study the influence of cooking and storage habits on the quality of macadamia nut oil,so as to provide reference for macadamia nut processingenterprises and consumers.Macadamia oil was treated at 100℃,200℃,300℃,microwave heating,45℃constant temperature storage,natural light for different times,and its acid value,peroxide value,squalene,sterol and fatty acid content were detected according to the national standard method.The results showed that the acid value and peroxide value increased with time.The acid value and peroxide value of macadamia oil cooked at 300℃and stored under natural light were higher than those heated by microwave and stored at 45℃,and increased rapidly with the increase of cooking and light time.The acid value was as high as 0.77 mg/g,with an increase of 63.8%,and the peroxide value was as high as 6.18 mg/g,with an increase of 43.7%.As for squalene,it decreased in varying degrees with heating time and storage time.Squalene in macadamia oil cooked at 300℃and stored under natural light were lower than those heated by microwave and stored at 45℃constant temperature,respectively,and decreased rapidly with the increase of cooking and light time,with the reduction ranges of 38.6%and28.4%respectively;Stigmasterol was not detected in macadamia oil.But in macadamia oil the content ofβ-sitosterol was 0.132 g/100 g,and the content did not change significantly in each treatmentgroup.In the experimental treatment group,the content of fatty acids in macadamia oil had different trends.After treatment at 300℃for 20 minutes,the content of oleic acid decreased by 75.66%,the content of palmitic acid decreased by 75.28%,and thecontent of palmitic acid decreased by 74.12%.In conclusion,low temperature heating,microwave heating and storage away from light can better preserve the quality of macadamia oil,this study will provide a theoretical basisfor the rational utilization of macadamia oil as cooking oil.

Comparing the Seedling Growth of Six Precious Species in Southern China

Seedling stage is an important period for forestry.The aim of this study was to estimate the growth trend of six local precious species and consider their implications for silviculture on forestry.We assessed height,diameter near ground and crown width at 1,4,6 and 8-month.The variance analysis indicated that there were significant differences between species on all traits except diameter near ground and crown width at 8-month.There were no significant differences on height and crown width at all ages among replicates whereas there were significant differences on diameter near ground at 1 and 4 months,differences on diameter near ground at 6 months and no difference on diameter near ground at 8-month.The significant differences among interaction of species and replicates on diameter near ground at 1-months,4-month,6-month and crown width at 8-month were also found.Dalbergia odorifera had a higher growth period after 6-month.Aquilaria sinensis(Lour.)Spreng,Swietenia mahagoni(L.)Jacq.,Hopea hainanensis Merr.et Chun,Homalium hainanense Gagnep.and Cassia siamea Lam.had the same growth trend on all traits at the whole time.

Eucalypts in China:Research History,Present Situation and Future Prospect

Silviculture is the major procedures in forest research.Silviculture is traditionally focused on various aspects of tree planting,such as tree selection,site preparation,irrigation and fertilization and so on,and the role of silviculture at that time is to manage forests scientifically for continuous production of goods and services while meeting biological and economic requirements.During the past three decades,an increase in research on silviculture has improved Eucalyptus productivity and on wood properties.But,very little information about this procedure on the review of Eucalyptus grown in China has been published even though this species was introduced many years.This paper reviews the available information regarding research history and progress of silviculture under Chinese ecological conditions and to outline some suggestions to them.
