Background:Nest parasitism by cuckoos(Cuculus spp.)results in enormous reproductive failure and forces hosts to evolve antiparasitic strategies,i.e.,recognition of own eggs and rejection of cuckoo eggs.There are often...Background:Nest parasitism by cuckoos(Cuculus spp.)results in enormous reproductive failure and forces hosts to evolve antiparasitic strategies,i.e.,recognition of own eggs and rejection of cuckoo eggs.There are often sexual conflicts between male and female individuals in the expression of antiparasitic behavior due to the differences in reproductive inputs and division of labor.Methods:By adding a foreign egg made of blue soft clay to the host nest during early incubation period in the field,and by removing several host eggs and adding experimental eggs to control the proportion of two egg types in the nest,we examined egg rejection ability,egg recognition mechanism and sexual difference in egg rejection of the Oriental Reed Warbler(Acrocephalus orientalis),one of the major hosts of Common Cuckoos(Cuculus canorus).Results:Our results indicated that Oriental Reed Warblers can recognize and reject nearly 100%(73/75)of the nonmimetic eggs made of blue soft clay,and they could reject foreign eggs with 100%accuracy,regardless of the ratio of experimental eggs and its own eggs in the nest.Furthermore,all cases of egg rejections recorded by videos were only carried out by females.Conclusions:Oriental Reed Warblers have a high egg recognition ability and show a true recognition mechanism.Only female warblers perform egg rejection,suggesting that the sex for host egg incubation seems to play an important role in the evolution of egg recognition mechanisms.展开更多

Previously we have synthesized complexes [In:Zn3(im)12]n(2)(Him= imidazole) and [Zn(im)2]n(3) successfully. In complex 1, each Zn(Ⅱ) coordinated with four ligands adopts a distorted tetrahedron coordination mode, and the 2D grid structure is built by the Zn(bim)4 as the secondary building unit(SBU). The luminescence properties of the three complexes were investigated for the first time. The emissions with maxima for complexes 1, 2 and 3 are at 379, 469 and 392 nm, respectively.展开更多

Here,we report a series of Bi^(3+)-doped Ba_(2)Y_(1-x)Sc_(x)NbO_(6)(0≤x≤1.0 mol)phosphors by using the traditional high temperature solid-state reaction.To achieve the structural and photoluminescent(PL)information,...Here,we report a series of Bi^(3+)-doped Ba_(2)Y_(1-x)Sc_(x)NbO_(6)(0≤x≤1.0 mol)phosphors by using the traditional high temperature solid-state reaction.To achieve the structural and photoluminescent(PL)information,several experimental characterizations and theoretical calculations were carried out,including X-ray diffraction(XRD),Rietveld refinement,UV-visible diffuse reflectance and PL spectra,temperature dependent PL spectra,and density functional theo retical(DFT)calculations.The XRD results show that the Bi^(3+)-doped Ba_(2)Y_(1-x)Sc_(x)NbO_(6)samples belong to the double-perovskite phase with a cubic space group of Fm3 m,and the diffraction positions shift toward high diffraction angle when the larger Y^(3+)ions are gradually replaced by the smaller Sc^(3+)ions.In addition,the refined XRD findings show that the Bi^(3+)ions tend to substitute the Y^(3+)and Sc^(3+)sites in the Bi^(3+)-doped Ba_(2)Y_(1-x)Sc_(x)NbO_(6)0<x<1.0 mol)solid solutions.The PL spectra show that the emission positions of the solid solution samples tune from446 to 497 nm with the increase of Sc^(3+) content,which can be attributed to the modification of crystal field strength around Bi^(3+)ions.Moreover,there is energy transfer from the Ba_(2)YNbO_(6)host to Bi^(3+)ions,which is dominated by a resonant type via a dipole-quadrupole(d-q)interaction.The Ba_(2)Y_(0.6)Sc_(0.4)NbO_(6):0.02 molBi^(3+)shows the strongest PL intensity under 365 nm excitation,with the best quantum efficiency(QE)of 68%,and it keeps 60%of the room temperature emission intensity when the temperature increases to 150℃,meaning that the Ba_(2)Y_(0.6)Sc_(0.4)NbO_(6):Bi^(3+)features excellent thermal quenching of luminescence.By combining this optimal sample with a commercial red-emitting Sr_(2)Si_(5)N_(8):Eu^(2+)phosphor,and a commercial 365 nm UV LED chip,a white LED device,with the color temperature(CT)of 3678 K,color rendering index(CRI)of 67.9,and CIE coordinates at(0.371,0.376),is achieved.展开更多
Six criteria were used to evaluate 12 metrics for their sensitivity to effluent flowing from the Ferris-Haggarty copper mine into Haggarty Creek and then into Battle Creek West Fork.Through the evaluation process,we f...Six criteria were used to evaluate 12 metrics for their sensitivity to effluent flowing from the Ferris-Haggarty copper mine into Haggarty Creek and then into Battle Creek West Fork.Through the evaluation process,we found that the Shannon-Wiener index,the random runs value,and Ephemeroptera taxa richness appeared to best reflect the impacts that have occurred in both Haggarty Creek and Battle Creek West Fork.In addition,Ephemeroptera/Plecoptera/Trichoptera taxa richness,total taxa richness,and Plecoptera taxa richness,were useful in reflecting those impacts.In contrast,we found that the abundance ratios,the Hilsenhoff Biotic Index,as well as Trichoptera taxa richness,did not reflect the impacts that occurred in Haggarty Creek and Battle Creek West Fork.Finally,this study provided information about the benthic insect communities that are present in the impacted reaches of Haggarty Creek.Such information is needed to assess the potential of those reaches as habitat for the Colorado River cutthroat trout,Oncorhynchus clarki pleuriticus,which is a species of special concern to the Wyoming Department of Game and Fish.展开更多

Recent studies based on molecular data alone or in combination with morphological data have greatly changed the understanding of phylogenetic relationships in the Bryaceae s.l. and indicate that the Bryaceae is not monophyletic. Based on phylogenetic analyses of sequence data for four cpDNA regions and morphological data, we revise the traditional Bryaceae in China and transfer six genera to other families. The Mielichhoferiaceae was redefined previously by Hill et al. based on the presence of much-branched stems, apparently lateral gametangia, Pohlia-like leaves, and a more-or-less reduced peristome. Five genera of Mielichhoferiaceae are present in China: Mielichhoferia(four species), Pohlia(27 species, two varieties), Pseudopohlia(one species), Epipterygium(two species), and Synthetodontium(one species). The genera Orthodontium and Leptobryum are transferred from the Bryaceae s.l. to Orthodontiaceae and Meesiaceae, respectively. Members of the recircumscribed Bryaceae belong to five genera: Anomobryum(five species), Brachymenium(14 species), Bryum(54 species, two varieties), Plagiobryum(three species), and Rhodobryum(four species). Bryaceae diversity is high in China. The species have potential uses in medicine, landscaping, environmental protection, and other fields. Rhodobryum roseum(Hedw.) Limpr., Bryum argenteum Hedw., and Rhodobryum giganteum(Schw gr.) Paris have long been used to cure cardiovascular disease in China. Some bioactive compounds will be leading compounds for the future design of novel drugs. In recent years, many species of Bryaceae have been used for landscaping. Bryum spp. are the dominant biotic species in biological soil crusts, which serve important ecological protective functions.展开更多

文摘The integration of artificial intelligence(AI)in education has revolutionized teaching and learning methodologies,offering personalized experiences and efficient resource management.However,this technological advancement has also surfaced a plethora of ethical concerns that necessitate careful consideration.This paper delves into the ethical issues arising from AI applications in education,such as data privacy,algorithmic bias,educational equity,and the evolving role of teachers.Through a comprehensive analysis,we identify the challenges and propose strategic countermeasures to mitigate these ethical dilemmas.Case studies from both domestic and international contexts are employed to illustrate real-world applications and the associated ethical decision-making processes.The paper concludes with a summary of findings,policy recommendations,and an outlook on future research directions,emphasizing the need for a balanced approach that respects both technological innovation and ethical standards in educational AI deployment.

文摘Here,we report a series of Bi^(3+)-doped Ba_(2)Y_(1-x)Sc_(x)NbO_(6)(0≤x≤1.0 mol)phosphors by using the traditional high temperature solid-state reaction.To achieve the structural and photoluminescent(PL)information,several experimental characterizations and theoretical calculations were carried out,including X-ray diffraction(XRD),Rietveld refinement,UV-visible diffuse reflectance and PL spectra,temperature dependent PL spectra,and density functional theo retical(DFT)calculations.The XRD results show that the Bi^(3+)-doped Ba_(2)Y_(1-x)Sc_(x)NbO_(6)samples belong to the double-perovskite phase with a cubic space group of Fm3 m,and the diffraction positions shift toward high diffraction angle when the larger Y^(3+)ions are gradually replaced by the smaller Sc^(3+)ions.In addition,the refined XRD findings show that the Bi^(3+)ions tend to substitute the Y^(3+)and Sc^(3+)sites in the Bi^(3+)-doped Ba_(2)Y_(1-x)Sc_(x)NbO_(6)0<x<1.0 mol)solid solutions.The PL spectra show that the emission positions of the solid solution samples tune from446 to 497 nm with the increase of Sc^(3+) content,which can be attributed to the modification of crystal field strength around Bi^(3+)ions.Moreover,there is energy transfer from the Ba_(2)YNbO_(6)host to Bi^(3+)ions,which is dominated by a resonant type via a dipole-quadrupole(d-q)interaction.The Ba_(2)Y_(0.6)Sc_(0.4)NbO_(6):0.02 molBi^(3+)shows the strongest PL intensity under 365 nm excitation,with the best quantum efficiency(QE)of 68%,and it keeps 60%of the room temperature emission intensity when the temperature increases to 150℃,meaning that the Ba_(2)Y_(0.6)Sc_(0.4)NbO_(6):Bi^(3+)features excellent thermal quenching of luminescence.By combining this optimal sample with a commercial red-emitting Sr_(2)Si_(5)N_(8):Eu^(2+)phosphor,and a commercial 365 nm UV LED chip,a white LED device,with the color temperature(CT)of 3678 K,color rendering index(CRI)of 67.9,and CIE coordinates at(0.371,0.376),is achieved.
文摘Six criteria were used to evaluate 12 metrics for their sensitivity to effluent flowing from the Ferris-Haggarty copper mine into Haggarty Creek and then into Battle Creek West Fork.Through the evaluation process,we found that the Shannon-Wiener index,the random runs value,and Ephemeroptera taxa richness appeared to best reflect the impacts that have occurred in both Haggarty Creek and Battle Creek West Fork.In addition,Ephemeroptera/Plecoptera/Trichoptera taxa richness,total taxa richness,and Plecoptera taxa richness,were useful in reflecting those impacts.In contrast,we found that the abundance ratios,the Hilsenhoff Biotic Index,as well as Trichoptera taxa richness,did not reflect the impacts that occurred in Haggarty Creek and Battle Creek West Fork.Finally,this study provided information about the benthic insect communities that are present in the impacted reaches of Haggarty Creek.Such information is needed to assess the potential of those reaches as habitat for the Colorado River cutthroat trout,Oncorhynchus clarki pleuriticus,which is a species of special concern to the Wyoming Department of Game and Fish.

文摘Quantum coherence,emerging from the"superposition"of quantum states,is widely used in various information processing tasks.Recently,the resource theory of multilevel quantum coherence is attracting substantial attention.In this paper,we mainly study the transformations of resource pure states via free operations in the theoretical framework for multilevel coherence.We prove that any two multilevel coherent resource pure states can be interconverted with a nonzero probability via a completely positive and trace non-increasing k-coherence-preserving map.Meanwhile,we present the condition of the interconversions of two multilevel coherent resource pure states under k-coherence-preserving operations.In addition,we obtain that in the resource-theoretic framework of multilevel coherence,no resource state is isolated,that is,given a multilevel coherent pure state|ψ>,there exists another multilevel coherent pure state|Φ>and a k-coherence-preserving operation∧k,such that∧k(|Φ>)=|ψ>.
文摘Tuberculosis(TB) is one of the most common and even fatal infectious diseases known to mankind.Millions of new cases are reported every year over the world,and one-third of the world's population is potentially infected with mycobacteria tuberculosis(MTB).Research to develop novel anti-TB drugs led to the identification of several isatin-based antimycobacterial agents,among which a number of potential candidates displayed excellent antimycobacterial activity and were found to be free of cytotoxicity.This review outlines the advances in the application of isatin hybrids as antimycobacterial agents and the critical aspects of design and structure-activity relationship of these derivatives.

文摘The Bryaceae is a large, cosmopolitan, taxonomically difficult moss family. Recent studies based on molecular data alone or in combination with morphological data have greatly changed the understanding of phylogenetic relationships in the Bryaceae s.l. and indicate that the Bryaceae is not monophyletic. Based on phylogenetic analyses of sequence data for four cpDNA regions and morphological data, we revise the traditional Bryaceae in China and transfer six genera to other families. The Mielichhoferiaceae was redefined previously by Hill et al. based on the presence of much-branched stems, apparently lateral gametangia, Pohlia-like leaves, and a more-or-less reduced peristome. Five genera of Mielichhoferiaceae are present in China: Mielichhoferia(four species), Pohlia(27 species, two varieties), Pseudopohlia(one species), Epipterygium(two species), and Synthetodontium(one species). The genera Orthodontium and Leptobryum are transferred from the Bryaceae s.l. to Orthodontiaceae and Meesiaceae, respectively. Members of the recircumscribed Bryaceae belong to five genera: Anomobryum(five species), Brachymenium(14 species), Bryum(54 species, two varieties), Plagiobryum(three species), and Rhodobryum(four species). Bryaceae diversity is high in China. The species have potential uses in medicine, landscaping, environmental protection, and other fields. Rhodobryum roseum(Hedw.) Limpr., Bryum argenteum Hedw., and Rhodobryum giganteum(Schw gr.) Paris have long been used to cure cardiovascular disease in China. Some bioactive compounds will be leading compounds for the future design of novel drugs. In recent years, many species of Bryaceae have been used for landscaping. Bryum spp. are the dominant biotic species in biological soil crusts, which serve important ecological protective functions.

文摘Two complexes,Co(Hbim)2(NCS)2(Hbim=benzimidazole)(1) and [Cu(Hbzt)SCN]n(Hbzt=benzothiazole) (2) were synthesized by the same synthesis method and characterized by elemental analysis,infrared spectroscopy(IR),thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),X-ray powder diffraction(XRPD) and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.The results from the single-crystal X-ray diffraction indicate that complex 1 is zero-dimensional(0D) framework and complex 2 is 2-dimensional(2D) framework.In complex 2,the 3-dimensional(3D) supermolecular architecture was built up by means of π-π stacking interaction,and two helical chains existed in its structure.The luminescence properties and the magnetic properties of the two complexes were investigated.
