The Troy Bedrock Valley (TBV) and its tributary valleys are the principal pre-glacial drainage in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, USA. This study focused on the headwaters of a tributary that occurs in McHenry County, IL. Drilling, geophysical surveys, and the analysis of existing geologic and water well data were used to determine the lithologic and geometric characteristics of the sediments that fill the paleovalley. A 3D geologic model of these sediments was then developed in Petrel. More than 65 m of Quaternary sediments filled the paleovalley. The model domain covers approximately 30 km<sup>2</sup>. The valley drains to the west and meanders, which is distinct from the straight course of the overlying modern Kishwaukee River. The sediments that filled the valley were subdivided into five units. These units include Illinois-age Glasford Formation coarse-grained proglacial outwash and alluvial deposits (GS2, GS1) and fine-grained lacustrine and diamicton deposits (G2 and G1). The Wisconsin-age Henry Formation sand and gravel cap the valley fill, and Cahokia alluvium buries everything. 展开更多

砷是煤中有害微量元素之一,在煤加工利用过程中,砷会以各种形式释放出来,进入环境。本文在全面分析现有资料和文献的基础上,结合作者对中国煤中砷的研究成果,分析了中国煤中砷的含量与分布、赋存状态、富集因素以及环境意义。通过研究... 砷是煤中有害微量元素之一,在煤加工利用过程中,砷会以各种形式释放出来,进入环境。本文在全面分析现有资料和文献的基础上,结合作者对中国煤中砷的研究成果,分析了中国煤中砷的含量与分布、赋存状态、富集因素以及环境意义。通过研究和分析可知,中国煤中砷的平均值约为5μg/g,但在不同地区、不同时代以及不同类型的煤中有较大的差异,除中国西南地区含量异常高外,一般含量均在10μg/g以内;煤中砷的赋存状态多种多样,主要以无机态的硫化物结合为主,并常与黄铁矿等矿物伴生,也存在有机态结合的砷;中国煤中砷的来源和富集主要是以陆源母岩、成煤植物、沉积环境和构造裂隙—热液作用等为主的多种因素综合控制的结果;在煤燃烧过程中,煤中的砷释放出来,并对长期生活在燃煤地区的环境和人体产生影响。本文还提出今后煤中砷研究的主要方向,以为煤中砷的研究提供参考资料。 展开更多

采用Carius管溶样方法,通过热电离质谱对淮北煤田煤中黄铁矿样品的Re、Os含量及其同位素进行了测定,得出黄铁矿样品中Re和Os含量分别为l_22~1.29ng/g和0.0046~0.0054ng/g。对两个样品同位素定年测定得出,其年龄值分别为(73.... 采用Carius管溶样方法,通过热电离质谱对淮北煤田煤中黄铁矿样品的Re、Os含量及其同位素进行了测定,得出黄铁矿样品中Re和Os含量分别为l_22~1.29ng/g和0.0046~0.0054ng/g。对两个样品同位素定年测定得出,其年龄值分别为(73.9±3.2)Ma和(33±9)Ma,两个样品的年龄相差约258-286Ma。含量和同位素年龄差值表明两个样品是不同时代形成的黄铁矿。Re-Os同位素体系比值揭示黄铁矿所赋存的地质体受到来自地壳物质的显著混染。另外,γ^TOs参数也证实了这一点。该参数分别为+17和+18,表明了有富含Re母体的地壳物质的加入,这为煤中Re-Os含量及地质理论研究提供了参考资料。 展开更多

The content and crystal forms of pyrite and sulfur isotope composition of pyrite sulfur as well as its vertical distribution near the Permian-Triassic (P/T) boundary in the Meishan section, Changxing county, Zhejiang province, China were studied using geological, petrological, mineralogical and geochemical methods (techniques). The result showed that the genesis of abundant pyrites in bed 24e2 at the uppermost part of the Changxing Formation in the Me- ishan section may be related to volcanic activity. In bed 24e2 of the Meishan section, pyrite has its highest content of 1.84% and the sulfur isotope composition has the highest 834S value at +2.2%0 which is very similar to that of the average value of volcanic gas, There are some volcanic products such as β-quartz, siliceous cylinders and siliceous spherules which coexisted with pyrites in beds 24e2 and 24f. It can be concluded that a large quantity of volcanic ash fell into the South China Sea and was incorporated into marine sediments during the formation of limestone at the uppermost part of the Changxing Formation. The volcanic eruption with massive amounts of H2S and SO2 gas at the end of the Permian period resulted in the enrichment of HES in the South China Sea areas, The reaction of H2S with reactive iron minerals formed the mass of abundant pyrites. 展开更多

Within McHenry County, IL, the fastest growing county in Illinois, groundwater is used for 100% of the water needs. Concerns over water resources have prompted the investigation of the surficial sand and gravel aquifers of the county. While the eastern portion of the county is urbanizing, the western portion remains devoted to agriculture. High-capacity irrigation wells screened within the surficial sand and gravel aquifer are used for crop production. To assess the impacts of the irrigation wells on the aquifer, a groundwater flow model was developed to examine five different scenarios reflecting drought conditions and increased pumping. Results show that the surficial sand and gravel aquifer is capable of meeting current water demands even if recharge is decreased 20% and pumping is increased 20%. The additional loss of discharge and increases in pumping result in head differences throughout the aquifer. 展开更多

浑善达克沙地具有对气候变化响应敏感和生态环境脆弱的特点,是研究环境变化的理想地区.相对于黄土而言,沙质沉积是近源、在沉积期堆积速率快,有可能记录了某些时间段千年时间尺度的干旱事件.应用光释光测年技术,对浑善达克沙地东... 浑善达克沙地具有对气候变化响应敏感和生态环境脆弱的特点,是研究环境变化的理想地区.相对于黄土而言,沙质沉积是近源、在沉积期堆积速率快,有可能记录了某些时间段千年时间尺度的干旱事件.应用光释光测年技术,对浑善达克沙地东北.西南断面上具代表性的10个沙丘和沙/黄土剖面进行了年代测试,获得了35个样品的光释光年龄;结合野外地层观察分析和粒度、磁化率等测试,得到了浑善达克沙地全新世干旱事件和相对湿润期的气候变化记录:在距今9.9~8.2ka期问,沙地发育厚层粗砂层,沙丘处于活动状态,气候干燥,植被覆盖度低;在距今8.0~2.7ka期间,沙地发育有多层浅灰一灰黑色砂质土壤,沙丘总体上处于固定.半固定状态(也含有短时段的沙丘活化的干旱事件),指示气候较之前明显湿润,植被相对茂密;2.3ka以来,沙地沉积物以粗砂堆积为主,沙丘又重新活化,气候总体上为干旱.通过对沙丘沉积记录和沉积产状的分析,发现浑善达克沙地在全新世早期、8.2ka前后以及小冰期时期,气候较为干旱,植被盖度小,沙丘活化;在“隋唐暖期”和“中世纪温暖期”,气候较湿润,植被发育良好,沙丘固定.具有绝对释光年龄控制的沙丘沉积记录表明,全新世浑善达克沙地多次千年时间尺度的气候事件可能是全球气候变化的区域响应. 展开更多
