Business process improvement is a systematic approach used by several organizations to continuously improve their quality of service.Integral to that is analyzing the current performance of each task of the process and assigning the most appropriate resources to each task.In continuation of our previous work,we categorize resources into human and non-human resources.For instance,in the healthcare domain,human resources include doctors,nurses,and other associated staff responsible for the execution of healthcare activities;whereas the non-human resources include surgical and other equipment needed for execution.In this study,we contend that the two types of resources(human and non-human)have a different impact on the process performance,so their suitability should be measured differently.However,no work has been done to evaluate the suitability of non-human resources for the tasks of a process.Consequently,it becomes difficult to identify and subsequently overcome the inefficiencies caused by the non-human resources to the task.To address this problem,we present a three-step method to compute a suitability score of non-human resources for the task.As an evaluation of the proposed method,a healthcare case study is used to illustrate the applicability of the proposed method.Furthermore,we performed a controlled experiment to evaluate the usability of the proposed method.The encouraging response shows the usefulness of the proposed method. 展开更多

This research study predominantly emphases on spatiotemporal extensions of urban area of Peshawar;its adverse impacts and contributions to climate and environment during 1931 to 2011. To probe these interventions, meteorological data, Satellite’s temporal imagery of Landsat ETM+ and TM, anthropogenic and demographic secondary data were congregated. In relation to map out land cover changes, maximum likelihood classification algorithm and followed by change detection techniques were applied to study area. The outcome of this process was further subjected through Geographic Information System (GIS) overlay analysis which suggested a clear straggle in urban area. Auxiliary data (Population growth rate, transportation, electricity connections, etc.) also support the fact of urban area extension. This study proposes that severs contributions of massive heat energy and CO<sub>2</sub> have been added to local climate and environment ensuing substantial increment in temperature drawn out from the trends. Consequently, Remote Sensing, GIS and allied data were found to be effective to gauge such variations. To eliminate anomalies in sprawl and environment, few suggestions and recommendation are made in latter part of this study. 展开更多

The principal objective of this article is to construct new and further exact soliton solutions of the(2+1)-dimensional Heisenberg ferromagnetic spin chain equation which investigates the nonlinear dynamics of magnets and explains their ordering in ferromagnetic materials.These solutions are exerted via the new extended FAN sub-equation method.We successfully obtain dark,bright,combined bright-dark,combined dark-singular,periodic,periodic singular,and elliptic wave solutions to this equation which are interesting classes of nonlinear excitation presenting spin dynamics in classical and semi-classical continuum Heisenberg systems.3D figures are illustrated under an appropriate selection of parameters.The applied technique is suitable to be used in gaining the exact solutions of most nonlinear partial/fractional differential equations which appear in complex phenomena. 展开更多

Ti33O55 films are deposited with the help of an electron beam evaporator for their applications in metasurfaces. The film of subwavelength (632nm) thickness is deposited on a silicon substrate and annealed at 400℃.... Ti33O55 films are deposited with the help of an electron beam evaporator for their applications in metasurfaces. The film of subwavelength (632nm) thickness is deposited on a silicon substrate and annealed at 400℃. The ellipsometry result shows a high refractive index above 2.5 with the minimum absorption coefficient in the visible region, which is necessary for high efficiency of transparent metasurfaces. Atomic force microscopy analysis is employed to measure the roughness of the as-deposited films. It is seen from micrographs that the deposited films are very smooth with the minimum roughness to prevent scattering and absorption losses for metasurface devices. The absence of grains and cracks can be seen by scanning electron microscope analysis, which is favorable for electron beam lithography. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy reveals the transmission and reflection obtained from the film deposited on glass substrates. The as-deposited film shows high transmission above 60%, which is in good agreement with metasurfaces. 展开更多

There are numerous application areas of computing similarity between process models.It includes finding similar models from a repository,controlling redundancy of process models,and finding corresponding activities between a pair of process models.The similarity between two process models is computed based on their similarity between labels,structures,and execution behaviors.Several attempts have been made to develop similarity techniques between activity labels,as well as their execution behavior.However,a notable problem with the process model similarity is that two process models can also be similar if there is a structural variation between them.However,neither a benchmark dataset exists for the structural similarity between process models nor there exist an effective technique to compute structural similarity.To that end,we have developed a large collection of process models in which structural changes are handcrafted while preserving the semantics of the models.Furthermore,we have used a machine learning-based approach to compute the similarity between a pair of process models having structural and label differences.Finally,we have evaluated the proposed approach using our generated collection of process models. 展开更多

Enterprises are continuously aiming at improving the execution of processes to achieve a competitive edge.One of the established ways of improving process performance is to assign the most appropriate resources to each task of the process.However,evaluations of business process improvement approaches have established that a method that can guide decision-makers to identify the most appropriate resources for a task of process improvement in a structured way,is missing.It is because the relationship between resources and tasks is less understood and advancement in business process intelligence is also ignored.To address this problem an integrated resource classification framework is presenting that identifies competence,suitability,and preference as the relationship of task with resources.But,only the competence relationship of human resources with a task is presented in this research as a resource competence model.Furthermore,the competency calculation method is presented as a user guider layer for business process intelligencebased resource competence evaluation.The computed capabilities serve as a basic input for choosing the most appropriate resources for each task of the process.Applicability of method is illustrated through a heathcare case study. 展开更多

In this era of post-COVID-19,humans are psychologically restricted to interact less with other humans.According to the world health organization(WHO),there are many scenarios where human interactions cause severe multiplication of viruses from human to human and spread worldwide.Most healthcare systems shifted to isolation during the pandemic and a very restricted work environment.Investigations were done to overcome the remedy,and the researcher developed different techniques and recommended solutions.Telepresence robot was the solution achieved by all industries to continue their operations but with almost zero physical interaction with other humans.It played a vital role in this perspective to help humans to perform daily routine tasks.Healthcare workers can use telepresence robots to interact with patients who visit the healthcare center for initial diagnosis for better healthcare system performance without direct interaction.The presented paper aims to compare different telepresence robots and their different controlling techniques to perform the needful in the respective scenario of healthcare environments.This paper comprehensively analyzes and reviews the applications of presented techniques to control different telepresence robots.However,our feature-wise analysis also points to specific technical,appropriate,and ethical challenges that remain to be solved.The proposed investigation summarizes the need for further multifaceted research on the design and impact of a telepresence robot for healthcare centers,building on new perceptions during the COVID-19 pandemic. 展开更多

The exponential growth in the development of smartphones and handheld devices is permeated due to everyday activities i.e.,games applications,entertainment,online banking,social network sites,etc.,and also allow the end users to perform a variety of activities.Because of activities,mobile devices attract cybercriminals to initiate an attack over a diverse range of malicious activities such as theft of unauthorized information,phishing,spamming,Distributed Denial of Services(DDoS),and malware dissemination.Botnet applications are a type of harmful attack that can be used to launch malicious activities and has become a significant threat in the research area.A botnet is a collection of infected devices that are managed by a botmaster and communicate with each other via a command server in order to carry out malicious attacks.With the rise in malicious attacks,detecting botnet applications has become more challenging.Therefore,it is essential to investigate mobile botnet attacks to uncover the security issues in severe financial and ethical damages caused by a massive coordinated command server.Current state of the art,various solutions were provided for the detection of botnet applications,but in general,the researchers suffer various techniques of machine learning-based methods with static features which are usually ineffective when obfuscation techniques are used for the detection of botnet applications.In this paper,we propose an approach by exploring the concept of a deep learning-based method and present a well-defined Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)model.Using the visualization approach,we obtain the colored images through byte code files of applications and perform an experiment.For analysis of the results of an experiment,we differentiate the performance of the model from other existing research studies.Furthermore,our method outperforms with 94.34%accuracy,92.9%of precision,and 92%of recall. 展开更多

Today,road safety remains a serious concern for governments around the world.In fact,approximately 1.35 million people die and 2–50 million are injured on public roads worldwide each year.Straight bends in road traffic are the main cause of many road accidents,and excessive and inappropriate speed in this very critical area can cause drivers to lose their vehicle stability.For these reasons,new solutions must be considered to stop this disaster and save lives.Therefore,it is necessary to study this topic very carefully and use new technologies such as Vehicle Ad Hoc Networks(VANET),Internet of Things(IoT),Multi-Agent Systems(MAS)and Embedded Systems to create a new system to serve the purpose.Therefore,the efficient and intelligent operation of the VANET network can avoid such problems as it provides drivers with the necessary real-time traffic data.Thus,drivers are able to drive their vehicles under correct and realistic conditions.In this document,we propose a speed adaptation scheme for winding road situations.Our proposed scheme is based on MAS technology,the main goal of which is to provide drivers with the information they need to calculate the speed limit they must not exceed in order to maintain balance in dangerous areas,especially in curves.The proposed scheme provides flexibility,adaptability,and maintainability for traffic information,taking into account the state of infrastructure and metering conditions of the road,as well as the characteristics and behavior of vehicles. 展开更多

Daily newspapers publish a tremendous amount of information disseminated through the Internet.Freely available and easily accessible large online repositories are not indexed and are in an un-processable format.The major hindrance in developing and evaluating existing/new monolingual text in an image is that it is not linked and indexed.There is no method to reuse the online news images because of the unavailability of standardized benchmark corpora,especially for South Asian languages.The corpus is a vital resource for developing and evaluating text in an image to reuse local news systems in general and specifically for the Urdu language.Lack of indexing,primarily semantic indexing of the daily news items,makes news items impracticable for any querying.Moreover,the most straightforward search facility does not support these unindexed news resources.Our study addresses this gap by associating and marking the newspaper images with one of the widely spoken but under-resourced languages,i.e.,Urdu.The present work proposed a method to build a benchmark corpus of news in image form by introducing a web crawler.The corpus is then semantically linked and annotated with daily news items.Two techniques are proposed for image annotation,free annotation and fixed cross examination annotation.The second technique got higher accuracy.Build news ontology in protégéusing OntologyWeb Language(OWL)language and indexed the annotations under it.The application is also built and linked with protégéso that the readers and journalists have an interface to query the news items directly.Similarly,news items linked together will provide complete coverage and bring together different opinions at a single location for readers to do the analysis themselves. 展开更多

Punjab Government Cooperative Housing Society was selected to find out suitability for photovoltaic installation and its management after that. Google Earth imagery and scanned maps were selected for the preparation of spatial and attribute data of buildings in the study area by using ArcGIS software. In first stage data were digitized and suitability and potential for each building were estimated. In second stage all the tabular data which consisted of owner information, panel information, its potential and location were linked to each other for management purpose. The effectiveness of the Business Intelligence(BI)system mainly depends on the quality of knowledge it produces.The decision-making process is hindered,and the user’s trust is lost,if the knowledge offered is undesired or of poor quality.A Data Warehouse(DW)is a huge collection of data gathered from many sources and an important part of any BI solution to assist management in making better decisions.The Extract,Transform,and Load(ETL)process is the backbone of a DW system,and it is responsible for moving data from source systems into the DW system.The more mature the ETL process the more reliable the DW system.In this paper,we propose the ETL Maturity Model(EMM)that assists organizations in achieving a high-quality ETL system and thereby enhancing the quality of knowledge produced.The EMM is made up of five levels of maturity i.e.,Chaotic,Acceptable,Stable,Efficient and Reliable.Each level of maturity contains Key Process Areas(KPAs)that have been endorsed by industry experts and include all critical features of a good ETL system.Quality Objectives(QOs)are defined procedures that,when implemented,resulted in a high-quality ETL process.Each KPA has its own set of QOs,the execution of which meets the requirements of that KPA.Multiple brainstorming sessions with relevant industry experts helped to enhance the model.EMMwas deployed in two key projects utilizing multiple case studies to supplement the validation process and support our claim.This model can assist organizations in improving their current ETL process and transforming it into a more mature ETL system.This model can also provide high-quality information to assist users inmaking better decisions and gaining their trust. 展开更多

The residential sector contributes a large part of the energy to the global energy balance.To date,housing demand has mostly been uncontrollable and inelastic to grid conditions.Analyzing the performance of a home energy manage-ment system requires the creation of various profiles of real-world residential demand,as residential demand is complex and includes multiple factors such as occupancy,climate,user preferences,and appliance types.Average Peak Ratio(A2P)is one of the most important parameters when managing an efficient and cost-effective energy system.At the household level,the larger relative magni-tudes of certain energy devices make managing this ratio critical,albeit difficult.Various Demand Response(DR)and Demand Side Management(DSM)systems have been proposed to reduce this ratio to 1.The main ways to achieve this are economic incentives,user comfort modeling and control,or preference-based.In this study,we propose a unique opportunistic social time approach called the Time Utility Based Control Feature(TUBCF),which uses the concept of a utility function from economics to model and control consumer devices.We propose a DR model for residential customers to reduce Peak-to-Average Ratio(PAR)and improve customer satisfaction by eliminating Appliance Wait Time(WTA)during peak periods.For PAR reduction and WTA,we propose a system architecture and mathematical formulation.Our proposed model automatically schedules devices based on their temporal preferences and considers six households with different device types and operational characteristics.Simulation results show that using this strategy can reduce A2P by 80%and improve user comfort during peak hours. 展开更多

With the rapid progress in computer science,including artificial intelligence,big data and cloud computing,full-space spot generation can be pivotal to many practical applications,such as facial recognition,motion detection,augmented reality,etc.These opportunities may be achieved by using diffractive optical elements(DOEs)or light detection and ranging(LIDAR).However,DOEs suffer from intrinsic limitations,such as demanding depth-controlled fabrication techniques,large thicknesses(more than the wavelength),Lambertian operation only in half space,etc.LIDAR nevertheless relies on complex and bulky scanning systems,which hinders the miniaturization of the spot generator.Here,inspired by a Lambertian scatterer,we report a Hermitian-conjugate metasurface scrambling the incident light to a cloud of random points in full space with compressed information density,functioning in both transmission and reflection spaces.Over 4044 random spots are experimentally observed in the entire space,covering angles at nearly 90°.Our scrambling metasurface is made of amorphous silicon with a uniform subwavelength height,a nearly continuous phase coverage,a lightweight,flexible design,and low-heat dissipation.Thus,it may be mass produced by and integrated into existing semiconductor foundry designs.Our work opens important directions for emerging 3D recognition sensors,such as motion sensing,facial recognition,and other applications. 展开更多

This paper studies the new families of exact traveling wave solutions with the modified nonlinear Schrodinger equation,which models the propagation of rogue waves in ocean engineering.The extended Fan sub-equation method with five parameters is used to find exact traveling wave solutions.It has been observed that the equation exhibits a collection of traveling wave solutions for limiting values of parameters.This method is beneficial for solving nonlinear partial differential equations,because it is not only useful for finding the new exact traveling wave solutions,but also gives us the solutions obtained previously by the usage of other techniques(Riccati equation,or first-kind elliptic equation,or the generalized Riccati equation as mapping equation,or auxiliary ordinary differential equation method)in a combined approach.Moreover,by means of the concept of linear stability,we prove that the governing model is stable.3 D figures are plotted for showing the physical behavior of the obtained solutions for the different values of unknown parameters with constraint conditions. 展开更多

Quantum entanglements between integer-order and fractional-order orbital angular momentums(OAMs)have been previously discussed.However,the entangled nature of arbitrary rational-order OAM has long been considered a myth due to the absence of an effective strategy for generating arbitrary rational-order OAM beams.Therefore,we report a single metadevice comprising a bilaterally symmetric grating with an aperture,creating optical beams with dynamically controllable OAM values that are continuously varying over a rational range.Due to its encoded spiniform phase,this novel metagrating enables the production of an average OAM that can be increased without a theoretical limit by embracing distributed singularities,which differs significantly from the classic method of stacking phase singularities using fork gratings.This new method makes it possible to probe the unexplored niche of quantum entanglement between arbitrarily defined OAMs in light,which could lead to the complex manipulation of microparticles,high-dimensional quantum entanglement and optical communication.We show that quantum coincidence based on rational-order OAM-superposition states could give rise to low cross-talks between two different states that have no significant overlap in their spiral spectra.Additionally,future applications in quantum communication and optical micromanipulation may be found. 展开更多
