Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles with diameters varying from 10 to 426 nm were synthesized and characterized.Heating effects of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles under radiofrequency capacitive field(RCF) with frequency of 27.12 MHz and power of 60-150 W were investigated.When the power of RCF is lower than 90 W,temperatures of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles(75-150 mg/mL) can be raised and maximal temperatures are all lower than 50 ℃.When the power of RCF is 90-150 W,temperatures of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles can be quickly raised and are all obviously higher than those of normal saline and distilled water under the same conditions.Temperature of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles can even reach 70.2 ℃ under 150 W RCF.Heating effects of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles are related to RCF power,particle size and particle concentration. 展开更多

Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Bubble Nucleation in Explosive Boiling

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation is carried out for the bubble nucleation of liquid nitrogen in explosive boiling. The heat is transferred into the simulation system by rescaling the velocity of the molecules. The results indicate that the initial equilibrium temperature of liquid and molecular cluster size affect the energy conversion in the process of bubble nucleation. The potential energy of the system violently varies at the beginning of the bubble nucleation, and then varies around a fixed value. At the end of bubble nucleation, the potential energy of the system slowly increases. In the bubble nucleation of explosive boiling, the lower the initial equilibrium temperature, the larger the size of the molecular cluster, and the more the heat transferred into the system of the simulation cell, causing the increase potential energy in a larger range. 展开更多

Algorithms for reconstruction of linear and circular birefringence-dichroism of optically thin anisotropic biological layers are presented.The technique of Jones matrix tomography of poly-crystalline films of biological fuids of various human organs has been developed and experimentally tested.The coordinate distributions of phase and amplitude anisotropy of bile films and synovial fuid taken from the knee joint are determined and statistically analyzed.Criteria(statistical moments of 3rd and 4th orders)of differential diagnostics of early stages of cholelithiasis and septic arthritis of the knee joint with excellent balanced accuracy were determined.Data on the diagnostic fficiency of the Jones matrix tomography method for polyerystalline plasma(liver disease),urine(albuminuria)and cytological smears(cervical cancer)are presented. 展开更多

Photodynamic therapy(PDT)is one of the most appealing photonic modalities for cancer treatment based on anticancer activity of light-induced photosensitizer-mediated reactive oxygen species(ROS),but a limited depth of light penetration into tissues does not make possible the treatment of deep-seated neoplasms and thus complicates its widespread clinical adoption.Here,we introduce the concept of genetically encoded bioluminescence resonance energy transfer(BRET)-activated PDT,which combines an internal light source and a photosensitizer(PS)in a single-genetic construct,which can be delivered to tumors seated at virtually unlimited depth and then triggered by the injection of a substrate to initiate their treatment.To illustrate the concept,we engineered genetic NanoLuc-miniSOG BRET pair,combining NanoLuc luciferase flashlight and phototoxic flavoprotein miniSOG,which generates ROS under luciferase-substrate injection.We prove the concept feasibility in mice bearing NanoLuc-miniSOG expressing tumor,followed by its elimination under the luciferase-substrate administration.Then,we demonstrate a targeted delivery of NanoLuc-miniSOG gene,via tumor-specific lentiviral particles,into a tumor,followed by its successful elimination,with tumor-growth inhibition(TGI)coefficient exceeding 67%,which confirms a great therapeutic potential of the proposed concept.In conclusion,this study provides proof-of-concept for deep-tissue“photodynamic”therapy without external light source that can be considered as an alternative for traditional PDT. 展开更多

An equation of state(EOS) is a thermodynamic equation describing the state of matter under a given set of physical conditions,and the Mie-Grüneisen EOS is a widely used EOS for solid materials.Polyimide is a typical complex high-molecular polymer of imide monomers which is widely used in the manufacture of parts for aerospace technology and for fabricating the inertial fusion energy shells(IFE).When a spacecraft collides with a meteoroids(or orbital debris) or the IFE shells are radiated by high power laser,the polyimide used in the equipment is in high pressure state.In order to study the safety of the spacecraft and IFE shells,the EOS of polyimide should be determined.In our research,the three key parameters of the Mie-Grüneisen EOS based on the shock adiabat for polyimide have been determined with two-stage light-gas gun experiments,i.e.the bulk speed of sound of polyimide is determined as 2.62±0.22 km/s,the linear Hugoniot slope coefficient is determined as 1.25±0.063,and the Grüneisen parameter at initial state is determined as 1.53±0.135.The Mie-Grüneisen EOS for polyimide is finally obtained,and the parameter values are proved reliable via the comparison of Grüneisen parameter value calculated from two different theoretical models using the experimental data. 展开更多

Cholangiocellular cancer(CCC)is an oncological disease of the bile ducts characterized by a high mortality rate.To date,the use of standard methods for the diagnosis and treatment of CCC has not been able to reduce mortality from this disease.This work presents the results of fluorescence diagnostics(FD),which consists in using a modified optical fiber and photodynamic therapy(PDT)using a therapeutic laser instead of a low-intensity laser.This technique was tested on 43 patients in a clinical setting.The results obtained indicate a direct correlation between spectroscopic and video FD methods.Furthermore,a direct correlation was found between the photobleaching of a chlorin e6-based photosensitizer,with the commercial names of PhotoIon Radachlorin and Photoran and stricture regression.Our findings demonstrate the possibility of using a therapeutic laser with a wavelength of 660 nm for both diagnosis and treatment of bile ducts cancer,which results in a significant reduction of the operation time without decreasing its effectiveness. 展开更多

Near-infrared(NIR)-emitting phosphor-converted light-emitting diodes have attracted widespread attention in various applications based on NIR spectroscopy.Except for typical Cr^(3+)-activated NIR-emitting phosphors,next-generation Cr^(3+)-free NIR-emitting phosphors with high efficiency and tunable optical properties are highly desired to enrich the types of NIR luminescent materials for different application fields.Here,we report the Fe^(3+)-activated Sr2−yCay(InSb)1−zSn_(2)zO_(6)phosphors that exhibit unprecedented long-wavelength NIR emission.The overall emission tuning from 885 to 1005 nm with broadened full-width at half maximum from 108 to 146 nm was realized through a crystallographic site engineering strategy.The NIR emission was significantly enhanced after complete Ca^(2+)incorporation owing to the substitution-induced lower symmetry of the Fe^(3+)sites.The Ca_(2)InSbO_(6):Fe^(3+)phosphor peaking at 935 nm showed an ultra-high internal quantum efficiency of 87%.The as-synthesized emission-tunable phosphors demonstrated great potential for NIR spectroscopy detection.This work initiates the development of efficient Fe^(3+)-activated broadband NIR-emitting phosphors and opens up a new avenue for designing NIR-emitting phosphor materials. 展开更多
