Empirical Analysis of the Impact of Green Finance and Technological Progress on Total Factor Productivity in China’s Industrial Sector

The enhancement of industrial green total factor productivity is pivotal for achieving high-quality and sustainable economic development.This study assesses China’s performance using the SBM-GML model,employing province-level panel data spanning from 2004 to 2020.Furthermore,we examine the influence of green finance and technological progress on industrial green total factor productivity using a spatial econometric model.The findings uncover that the relationship between the level of green financial development and industrial green total factor productivity follows a U-shaped curve.Initially,low levels of green financial development exert a suppressive effect on industrial green total factor productivity,proving ineffective in the short term.However,with the progression of green finance development,a positive and significant long-term impact on industrial green total factor productivity emerges.Moreover,technological progress demonstrates a noteworthy promotional effect on industrial green total factor productivity.The analysis delves deeper into revealing that industrial structure and environmental regulation intensity exhibit a significant negative relationship with industrial green total factor productivity.In contrast,both energy structure and education level showcase a substantial positive relationship with industrial green total factor productivity.

Analysis of the Subtitle Translation of The Shawshank Redemption from the Perspective of the Skopos Theory

Translation is an important communication skill between different languages.In modern society,audiovisual products are distributed to worldwide areas as a popular means of mass media.As the globalization of economy and culture is advancing in the new century,audiovisual subtitle translation plays an increasingly important part.Good subtitles can enhance the audience’s experience of appreciating foreign films and make cultural communication more effective.This thesis conducts a brief survey on the strategies for film subtitle translation using the case study of the famous film The Shawshank Redemption.In this paper,based on Skopos theory,the author made a comprehensive analysis of subtitling activities and pointed out that subtitling,as a specialized area of translation,is not only guided by translation studies but also under the constraints of film properties.The Skopos theory of film subtitle translation is to provide,within the constraints of time and space,a well-translated subtitle that can contribute to a good understanding of what is happening on the screen.In short,the end justifies the means.Therefore,during the process of subtitle translation,the subtitler should take all the factors into consideration to identify the translation purpose,and then adopt corresponding translation strategies.From this perspective,the author takes the Skopos theory as instruction and applies the reduction and addition method to analyze the film subtitle translation.In the age of globalization,foreign films are increasingly entering people’s lives.Watching foreign films is a popular and effective way to understand foreign cultures.However,in China,subtitle translation has not attracted as much academic attention as it deserves and few theories could be appropriately applied to subtitle translation.Therefore,the author hopes that subtitle translation could be paid more attention in terms of cross-cultural communication.

The Status Quo and Developing Trend Analysis of Global Carbon Finance

This paper gives a systematic view of the new trends of global carbon finance innovation under the challenge of global climate change and in the process of transition to achieve economic growth from "high carbon" to 'low carbon",covering the following aspects:the structure,status quo and developing trend of global carbon market.The paper discusses the innovation in financial organization and service systems and governments' overall guidance and policy support,and draws the conclusion that the world is undergoing massive changes with governments actively responding to carbon finance to embrace the tremendous opportunities for clean energy and climate change in financial industry.To seize the opportunity,a complete and overall carbon finance system of China should be put in the top of the agenda.Given the current tasks of energy conservation and pollution reduction and the growing demand for capital input,China needs to construct an clear of policy guidance,a diversified financia service system,and a multi-approach carbon finance system to intensify and widen the participation of financial industry,to expand financing channels for sustainable economy and spread risks,and finally,work out an inexpensive solution to the realization of China's low carbon target.

Spatial Structural Pattern and Vulnerability of China-Japan-Korea Shipping Network

The economies of China-Japan-Korea(CJK) are complementary, with their proximity resulting in the three countries having a high degree of interdependence with respect to trade. Currently, trade among these countries relies mainly on port-centered shipping. The development of the shipping network is integral for in-depth integration of CJK trade. This paper analyzes the overall characteristics, centrality, spatial structure, and vulnerability of the CJK shipping network using the methods of complex network analysis, blocking flow theory, and interruption and deletion of hub ports. The main findings are as follows: 1) The CJK shipping network has a small average path length and clustering coefficient, and its degree distribution follows a power-law distribution, which make the network present obvious characteristics of a Barabási-Albert scale-free. 2) The characteristics of the multi-center point of the CJK shipping network can alleviate traffic pressure. At the same time, the network shows a clear hierarchy in the port transportation system, with cargo transport relying mainly on the ‘hub port-hub port' connection. 3) The CJK shipping network is relatively stable. Compared with ports in Japan and Korea, the main hub ports in China have a greater impact on the stability of the shipping network, in particular those ports of the central coastal region, including Shanghai, Ningbo, and Lianyungang.

CONSTRUCTION OF COMPACTLY SUPPORTED BIVARIATE ORTHOGONAL WAVELETS BY UNIVARIATE ORTHOGONAL WAVELETS

After some permutation of conjugate quadrature filter, new conjugate quadrature filters can be derived. In terms of this permutation, an approach is developed for constructing compactly supported bivariate orthogonal wavelets from univariate orthogonal wavelets. Non-separable orthogonal wavelets can be achieved. To demonstrate this method, an example is given.

Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on vegetable production and countermeasures from an agricultural insurance perspective

In the face of the corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,it is essential to stabilize the security of urban“shopping baskets”.Through a survey and interviews with 46 agricultural cooperatives in Shanghai,this paper analyzes the impact of the pandemic on vegetable production and offers suggestions on agricultural insurance.The research results show that:(1)the pandemic has impacted almost all stages of the vegetable supply chain but has had a greater impact on the sales stage;(2)the market risks of vegetable production have increased significantly,and the gap between the field price and the market price has widened.The sales price difference between traditional channels and e-commerce is notable;(3)farmers’incomes have generally declined due to the COVID-19 pandemic,and traditional small-scale farmers have suffered more losses;and(4)agricultural insurance plays an important role in stabilizing the supply of vegetables to the city.To minimize the impact of the pandemic on vegetable production and to stabilize both urban“shopping baskets”and farmers’incomes,it is necessary to further improve agricultural insurance,especially to provide insurance against market risks.

Ab initio study on the electronic states and laser cooling of AlCl and AlBr

We investigate whether AlCl and AlBr are promising candidates for laser cooling. We report new ab initio calculations on the ground state X^1Σ^+ and two low-lying states(A^1Π and a^3Π) of AlCl and AlBr. The calculated spectroscopic constants show good agreement with available theoretical and experimental results. We also obtain the permanent dipole moments(PDMs) curve at multi-reference configuration interaction(MRCI) level of theory. The transition properties of A^1Π and a^3Π states are predicted, including the transition dipole moments(TDMs), Franck–Condon factors(FCFs), radiative times and radiative width. The calculated radiative lifetimes are of the order of a nanosecond, implying that they are sufficiently short for rapid laser cooling. Both AlCl and AlBr have highly diagonally distributed FCFs which are crucial requirement for molecular laser cooling. The results demonstrate the feasibility of laser cooling AlCl and AlBr, and we propose laser cooling schemes for AlCl and AlBr.

Financial Exclusion and Inclusive Finance

Inclusive finance is intended to address the barriers posed by financial exclusion to economic development. Therefore, an effective inclusive financial system must be designed to address financial exclusion rather than to provide long-term policy subsidies for financial relief. Financial exclusion in China has causes in economic development strategy, financial institutional arrangement, financial market structure, dominance of social relations, and constraints of risk evaluation. Eliminating financial exclusion and increasing financial inclusion essentially requires that our financial system be equipped with those functions through policy adjustment, institutional innovation and improvement of market rules. Existing bottlenecks of financial risk management should be eliminated to provide fair opportunities of financing for projects that contribute to social development with limited deviations from traditional credit costs. Inclusive finance is sometimes confused with policy subsidies, financial assistance and poverty relief loans, which cannot reflect efficiency, fairness and inclusion as the essential attributes of inclusive finance. The existing financial system must be adjusted to enhance risk management performance and advance financial market stratification and competition by creating fair and efficient legal and credit systems.

Hybrid density functional study on lattice vibration,thermodynamic properties,and chemical bonding of plutonium monocarbide

Hybrid density functional theory is employed to systematically investigate the structural,magnetic,vibrational,thermodynamic properties of plutonium monocarbide(Pu C and Pu C_(0.75)).For comparison,the results obtained by DFT,DFT + U are also given.For Pu C and Pu C_(0.75),Fock-0.25 hybrid functional gives the best lattice constants and predicts the correct ground states of antiferromagnetic(AFM) structure.The calculated phonon spectra suggest that Pu C and Pu C_(0.75) are dynamically stable.Values of the Helmholtz free energy ?F,internal energy ?E,entropy S,and constant-volume specific heat C_v of Pu C and Pu C_(0.75) are given.The results are in good agreement with available experimental or theoretical data.As for the chemical bonding nature,the difference charge densities,the partial densities of states and the Bader charge analysis suggest that the Pu–C bonds of Pu C and Pu C_(0.75) have a mixture of covalent character and ionic character.The effect of carbon vacancy on the chemical bonding is also discussed in detail.We expect that our study can provide some useful reference for further experimental research on the phonon density of states,thermodynamic properties of the plutonium monocarbide.

Extreme Stability of Functional Differential Equations with Finite Delay

This paper obtained some theorems that can ascertain the zero solution of functional differential equations are extremely uniformly stable, extremely asymptotically stable or extremely uniformly asymptotically stable. In the obtained theorems, the derivative of Liapunov function on t along the solutions of functional differential equations is not required to be always negative, especially, it may be even positive.

Concerns Affecting Behaviors of Independent Directors

This paper tries to find out whether some individual concerns will affect the behaviors of independent directors, specifically voting against proposals during the board meeting.We analyze career concern,compensation concern,reputation concern and term concern.The results show that individual director with longer career horizon,who is better compensated,with less board seats in other firms,and whose term is earlier than that of the board chairman is more likely to dissent.

THE METRIC GENERALIZED INVERSE AND ITS SINGLE-VALUE SELECTION IN THE PRICING OF CONTINGENT CLAIMS IN AN INCOMPLETE FINANCIAL MARKET

This article continues to study the research suggestions in depth made by M.Z.Nashed and G.F.Votruba in the journal"Bull.Amer.Math.Soc."in 1974.Concerned with the pricing of non-reachable"contingent claims"in an incomplete financial market,when constructing a specific bounded linear operator A:l_(1)^(n)→l_(2) from a non-reflexive Banach space l_(1)^(n) to a Hilbert space l_(2),the problem of non-reachable"contingent claims"pricing is reduced to researching the(single-valued)selection of the(set-valued)metric generalized inverse A■ of the operator A.In this paper,by using the Banach space structure theory and the generalized inverse method of operators,we obtain a bounded linear single-valued selection A^(σ)=A+of A■.

Establishing a measurement,reporting,and verification system for climate finance in post-Paris agreement period

The measurement,reporting,and verification(MRV) of climate finance was originated from discussions under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC).It has been one of the key issues of global climate negotiations since 2009 and will continue to be of significant importance in addressing climate change and strengthening international trust.This paper analyses the concept,the objective,and the progress of the MRV of climate finance based on reviews of the latest literature and think-tank reports regarding climate finance regime and MRV.Following the analysis,challenges faced with the MRV of climate finance are illustrated.This paper presents that the comparability of climate finance data needs to be improved due to the variety of methodologies used for disaggregating climate finance.In addition,the integrality of the MRV system of climate finance has been impaired by the lack of feedback mechanism from the recipients to the contributors in reporting system.Furthermore,although accounting system of climate finance has been developing and improving,it remains incapacity in providing accurate data on disbursed climate finance.Responding to the above challenges,this paper proposes the key tasks in establishing a comprehensive MRV system for climate finance at international level.The tasks involve developing a measurement system with consistent data basis and accounting basis,a reporting system with more detailed guidance and standardized formats,as well as a verification mechanism balancing top-down and bottom-up review processes.In the last section,this paper concludes that the establishment of an improved MRV of climate finance requires concerted cooperation and negotiations between developed and developing country Parties under the UNFCCC.As one of the few developing country donors to the Global Environmental Facility(GEF),China is suggested to clarify its propositions as a developing country in aspects such as concept,coverage,and architecture of climate finance and MRV system,and gain bargaining power in improving operating and technical rules of international climate finance regime.

Current Situations and Development Recommendations for Pomegranate Industry in Lintong District of Xi'an City

Lintong pomegranate is well known in China and ranks first among the top five famous pomegranate types in China. In 2006,it obtained the national geographical indication protection product certification. In recent years,the pomegranate industry of Lintong has developed rapidly,but there are also some problems,which have become the weak points of local economic development. In order to promote the further sustainable development of the Lintong pomegranate industry,on the basis of the questionnaire survey,the paper introduced the role of Lintong pomegranate in the county economy,resource advantages,planting and marketing,the low scientific and technological content,shrinkage of planting area,decline of brand influence of Lintong pomegranate,lack of awareness of industrialization of characteristic agriculture,single product type,short industrial chain,etc. Finally,it came up with pertinent recommendations on the basis of these problems. In order to develop pomegranate,Lintong District should make full use of the local advantages,broaden the marketing channels,rationally apply the theory of industrialization,improve the cooperative organization,and form the characteristic industrial chain of Lintong pomegranate.

The development of an open economy in China——A retrospective analysis of 30 years of opening to the outside world

China’s three decades of opening to the outside world are a historical process of establishing and developing an open economy. This process can be divided into four stages:1) reducing regulation,rejuvenating the trade regulatory regime and delegating management rights to foreign-trade operators;2) developing foreign trade firms into de facto market entities; 3)pursuing trade liberalization and establishing an open economic system in conformity with international rules;4) furthering improvement and innovation in infrastructure. At the initial stage of establishing an open economy,China restructured its foreign trade system and learned valuable lessons about liberalization through system transition.China experimented with bold breakthrough initiatives in special economic zones and open coastal cities,and correctly selected an export-oriented development strategy. Two core policies underlying China’s open economy are the strengthening of bilateral and multilateral trade relationships,and realigning the institutional environment to comport with international rules.China’s open economy occupies an important position in the national economy. Moreover,it has become an important part of state’s macro-economic regulation and is exerting growing influence on the world economy.

Survey Reveals Farmers'Perceptions of Modern Life

Through a statistical analysis of the results of a field survey conducted in a moderately remote suburb of Shanghai,this article investigates the common problems and concerns that farmers are facing during the process of marketization. In evaluating the level of rural development,farmers pay more attention to social security and their living conditions than an increase in income. Whilst playing a prominent role in the development of the rural economy and environmental governance, the government has failed to adequately cultivate community culture and public spiritual life. The government policies on building a new socialist countryside focus on those issues of most concern to farmers: income,employment,education,social security and rural environmental governance,whilst neglecting the cultural life of farmers.
