The Internet of Medical Things(IoMT)is a collection of smart healthcare devices,hardware infrastructure,and related software applications,that facilitate the connection of healthcare information technology system via the Internet.It is also called IoT in healthcare,facilitating secure communication of remote healthcare devices over the Internet for quick and flexible analysis of healthcare data.In other words,IoMT is an amalgam of medical devices and applications,which improves overall healthcare outcomes.However,this system is prone to securityand privacy-related attacks on healthcare data.Therefore,providing a robust security mechanism to prevent the attacks and vulnerability of IoMT is essential.To mitigate this,we proposed a new Artificial-Intelligence envisioned secure communication scheme for IoMT.The discussed network and threat models provide details of the associated network arrangement of the IoMT devices and attacks relevant to IoMT.Furthermore,we provide the security analysis of the proposed scheme to show its security against different possible attacks.Moreover,a comparative study of the proposed scheme with other similar schemes is presented.Our results show that the proposed scheme outperforms other similar schemes in terms of communication and computation costs,and security and functionality attributes.Finally,we provide a pragmatic study of the proposed scheme to observe its impact on various network performance parameters. 展开更多

Construction crane vessels make use of dynamic positioning(DP)systems during the installation and removal of offshore structures to maintain the vessel’s position.Studies have reported cases of instability of DP systems during offshore operation caused by uncertainties,such as mooring forces.DP"robustification"for heavy lift operations,i.e.,handling such uncertainties systematically and with stability guarantees,is a long-standing challenge in DP design.A new DP method,composed by an observer and a controller,is proposed to address this challenge,with stability guarantees in the presence of uncertainties.We test the proposed method on an integrated cranevessel simulation environment,where the integration of several subsystems(winch dynamics,crane forces,thruster dynamics,fuel injection system etc.)allow a realistic validation under a wide set of uncertainties. 展开更多

It is widely acknowledged that navigation is a significant source of between sites.The Global Positioning System(GPS)has numerous navi-gational advancements,and hence it is used widely.GPS navigation can be compromised at any level between position,location,and estimation,to the detriment of the user.Consequently,a navigation system requires the precise location and underpinning tracking of an object without signal loss.The objective of a hybrid environment prediction system is to foresee the location of the user and their territory by employing a variety of sensors for position estimation and monitoring navigation.This article presents a state estimation of the relative position for indoor and outdoor activity solved with a state estimation algorithm utilizing Kalman filter.Also,a comparative study of variants of the Kalman filter,where linearizing current mean and covariance with nonlinear state estimation as an approach of Extended Kalman Filter(EFK)is applied to the collected data.The third comparative aspect uses probability distribution for the selected points with a Sigma Point Kalman Filter(SPKF)for evaluating an accelerometer,gyroscope,and GPS data in hybrid environments for various activities for different data collection scenar-ios from users.The findings of the presented model demonstrate the robust performance of all forms of the Kalman filter algorithm for diverse user-performed activities in totally contaminated indoor and outdoor environ-ments.Experimental findings with various patterns and data,conducted by different subjects using multiple modes of navigation,show that the approach can indeed lead to the intelligent development of sensor-based navigation and monitoring.State estimation and prediction is extraordinarily beneficial for mining applications,autonomous vehicle localization/tracking,and location-based services.This research work demonstrates both EKF-based and SPKF-based sensor fusion to provide an appropriate estimation. 展开更多

Present day power scenarios demand a high quality uninterrupted power supply and needs environmental issues to be addressed. Both concerns can be dealt with by the introduction of the renewable sources to the existing power system. Thus, automatic generation control(AGC) with diverse renewable sources and a modified-cascaded controller are presented in the paper.Also, a new hybrid scheme of the improved teaching learning based optimization-differential evolution(hITLBO-DE) algorithm is applied for providing optimization of controller parameters. A study of the system with a technique such as TLBO applied to a proportional integral derivative(PID), integral double derivative(IDD) and PIDD is compared to hITLBO-DE tuned cascaded controller with dynamic load change.The suggested methodology has been extensively applied to a 2-area system with a diverse source power system with various operation time non-linearities such as dead-band of, generation rate constraint and reheat thermal units. The multi-area system with reheat thermal plants, hydel plants and a unit of a wind-diesel combination is tested with the cascaded controller scheme with a different controller setting for each area. The variation of the load is taken within 1% to 5% of the connected load and robustness analysis is shown by modifying essential factors simultaneously by± 30%. Finally, the proposed scheme of controller and optimization technique is also tested with a 5-equal area thermal system with non-linearities. The simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed controller and algorithm under a dynamically changing load. 展开更多

In recent decades,intelligent transportation systems(ITS)have improved drivers’safety and have shared information(such as traffic congestion and accidents)in a very efficient way.However,the privacy of vehicles and the security of event information is a major concern.The problem of secure sharing of event information without compromising the trusted third party(TTP)and data storage is the main issue in ITS.Blockchain technologies can resolve this problem.A work has been published on blockchain-based protocol for secure sharing of events and authentication of vehicles.This protocol addresses the issue of the safe storing of event information.However,authentication of vehicles solely depends on the cloud server.As a result,their scheme utilizes the notion of partially decentralized architecture.This paper proposes a novel decentralized architecture for the vehicular ad-hoc network(VANET)without the cloud server.This work also presents a protocol for securing event information and vehicle authentication using the blockchain mechanism.In this protocol,the registered user accesses the event information securely from the interplanetary file system(IPFS).We incorporate the IPFS,along with blockchain,to store the information in a fully distributed manner.The proposed protocol is compared with the state-of-the-art.The comparison provides desirable security at a reasonable cost.The evaluation of the proposed smart contract in terms of cost(GAS)is also discussed. 展开更多

The recent surge in development of smart homes and smart cities can be observed in many developed countries.While the idea to control devices that are in home(embedded with the Internet of Things(IoT)smart devices)by the user who is outside the home might sound fancy,but it comes with a lot of potential threats.There can be many attackers who will be trying to take advantage of this.So,there is a need for designing a secure scheme whichwill be able to distinguish among genuine/authorized users of the system and attackers.And knowing about the details of when and what IoT devices are used by the user,the attacker can trace the daily activities of user and can plan an attack accordingly.Thus,the designed security scheme should guarantee confidentiality,anonymity and un-traceability.Most of the schemes proposed in the literature are either non-blockchain based which involves inherent problems of storing data in a single-server or assuming weaker attack models.In this work,we propose a novel scheme based on blockchain technology,assuming a stronger Canetti and Krawczyk(CK)-threat model.Through the formal and informal security,and comparative analysis,we show that the proposed scheme provides a superior security and more functionality features,with less communication cost and comparable computational cost as compared to other competent schemes.Moreover,the blockchain based simulation study on the proposed scheme has been conducted to show its feasibility in real-life application. 展开更多

The radiant systems consume less energy and provide better thermal comfort as compared to the conventional system,but the main drawback of radiant technology is inability to cater the latent load and condensation.This problem has engaged researchers to push their emphasis on Personalized Conditioning System(PCS).It forms a micro-climate region near the occupant.This study is aimed at PCS combined with a radiant conditioning system,which evaluates the performance of the PCS and compares it with different radiant cooling systems.A radiant cubicle was used to investigate the performance of the PCS for both heating&cooling modes.For heating mode,the Standard Effective Temperature(SET)was calculated with the help of thermal comfort surveys which were in a range of 23.4℃ to 27.3℃.For cooling mode,four different cases compared the performance of the system which are:Conventional Air Conditioning System(CACS),Radiant Cooled Ceiling System(RCCS),Personalized Radiant Conditioning System(PRCS),and both PRCS-RCCS coupled.It was observed that PRCS alone reaches the thermal comfort criteria with low energy consumption.The energy-saving of RCCS-PRCS was achieved 38%when compared with CACS.It can be concluded that PRCS is a new step in the field of thermal comfort. 展开更多

The paper presents a seismic safety assessment of unreinforced masonry(URM)building using two approaches.The first approach uses the‘Pier Analysis’method,based on the concept of equivalent lateral stiffness,where in-plane and out-of-plane actions are considered independently.The second approach is developed with the program SAP2000,where the linear response is evaluated using continuum‘finite element modelling’(FEM).Both methods are compared to evaluate the safety of wall piers and the differences in the outcomes under combined gravitational and lateral seismic forces.The analysis results showed that few wall elements are unsafe in in-plane and out-of-plane tension.It is also observed that the pier analysis method is conservative compared to FEM,but can be used as a simplified and quick tool in design offices for safety assessment,with reasonable accuracy.To safeguard the URM wall piers under lateral loads,a retrofitting technique is adopted by providing vertical and horizontal belts called splints and bandages,respectively,using welded wire mesh(WWM)reinforcement.The study using the‘Pier Analysis’shows that the lateral load capacity of unsafe URM piers can be enhanced up to 3.67 times and made safe using the applied retrofitting technique.Further,the retrofitting design methodology and recommendations for application procedures to on-site URM buildings are discussed in detail. 展开更多

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL)is the aggressive form of haematological malignancies with relapse/refractory in∼40%of cases.It mostly develops due to accumulation of various genetic and epigenetic variations that contribute to its aggressiveness.Though large-scale structural alterations have been reported in DLBCL,their functional role in pathogenesis and as potential targets for therapy is not yet well understood.In this study we performed detection and analysis of copy number variations(CNVs)in 11 human DLBCL cell lines(4 activated B-cell–like[ABC]and 7 germinal-centre B-cell–like[GCB]),that serve as model systems for DLBCL cancer cell biology.Significant heterogeneity observed in CNV profiles of these cell lines and poor prognosis associated with ABC subtype indicates the importance of individualized screening for diagnostic and prognostic targets.Functional analysis of key cancer genes exhibiting copy alterations across the cell lines revealed activation/disruption of ten potentially targetable immuno-oncogenic pathways.Genome guided in silico therapy that putatively target these pathways is elucidated.Based on our analysis,five CNV-genes associated with worst survival prognosis are proposed as potential prognostic markers of DLBCL. 展开更多

Energy has always been one of the fundamental elements in the growth of human society.It is crucial that we improve our energy management due to the ever-growing imbalance in demand-supply.The new wave in the energy sector is characterized by the three D's of decarbonization,decentralization,and digitalization.For a sustainable life,it is necessary that energy is tapped from alternative sources that are renewable to leave a minimal carbon footprint.To integrate different sources with the main power grid,we require two-way communication among them.This makes it indispensable that consumers are empowered to protect their privacy and make them the sole owners of their data.A good access control scheme would ensure security of data,and an efficient trading platform would ensure judicious use of the resources.Here,we propose a framework URJA with an access control scheme and an energy trading platform based on blockchain for a smart grid.The locally available renewable sources of energy are connected to the grid such that demand-supply is managed effectively without loss of efficiency and privacy.A customized consensus scheme based on trust ensures a quick operation in real-time. 展开更多
