Sustainability is a concept for achieving integration and balance in development to preserve and use resources properly by providing new solutions to overcome structural,social and economic misconceptions to prevent further degradation and waste of natural resources and create a better future for human societies.Sustainable development can be defined as a strategy for the correct use of resources,by modifying and redefining consumption patterns and avoiding one-sided development approaches.Therefore,sustainable development is defined as a long-term and unlimited solution for aligning different concepts(social,economic,and environmental),seemingly independent but related and influencing each other.This paper examines the challenges and capacities of the Oman Maritime Community and Maritime Energy Management's role in terms of sustainable development.To analyze this issue,the role of key players in Oman's maritime industry,such as the Oman Fisheries Company and the Oman Shipping Company,has been studied with the five main indicators of sustainable development goals,including people,the planet,peace,welfare,and partnership. 展开更多

A mathematical model is elaborated for the laminar flow of an Eyring-Powell fluid over a stretching sheet.The considered non-Newtonian fluid has Prandtl number larger than one.The effects of variable fluid properties and heat generation/absorption are also discussed.The balance equations for fluid flow are reduced to a set of ordinary differential equations through a similarity transformation and solved numerically using a Chebyshev spectral scheme.The effect of various parameters on the rate of heat transfer in the thermal boundary regime is investigated,i.e.,thermal conductivity,the heat generation/absorption ratio and the mixed convection parameter.Good agreement appears to exist between theoretical predictions and the existing published results. 展开更多

Thermal radiative heat transfer through a thin horizontal liquid film of a Newtonian nanofluid subjected to a magnetic field is considered.The physical boundary conditions are a variable surface heat flux and a uniform concentration along the sheet.Moreover,viscous dissipation is present and concentration is assumed to be influenced by both thermophoresis and Brownian motion effects.Using a similarity method to turn the underlying Partial differential equations into a set of ordinary differential equations(ODEs)and a shooting technique to solve these equations,the skin-friction coefficient,the Nusselt number,and the Sherwood number are determined.Among other things,it is shown that large values of the thermal radiation heat transfer rate,thermal conductivity parameter,and the Brownian motion parameter can enhance the cooling of the sheet. 展开更多

Bullying is rampant and has severe effects on the health and wellbeing of the employees.Additionally,it also undermines job satisfaction and performance,thus affecting productivity.Bullying among seafarers is widespread,and their isolation from the rest of the people while at sea can enhance aggressive behaviour.Bullying is widespread among seafarers and severely affects them in core areas of their life.There is a significant effect of bullying on mental health.However,the Omani seafarers are loyal to their jobs and claim to be happy at sea despite the challenges and hardships.While there are different forms of bullying in the workplace,verbal abuse is the most rampant.The study seeks to highlight the impact of bullying on seafarers'happiness and job satisfaction who work in a shipping company.A questionnaire with nine questions was prepared based on the authors'experience and sent by mobile phone to fifty officers and crew members working onboard.More insight into workplace bullying among seafarers is essential in formulating adequate law,thus improving seafarers'health and safety. 展开更多
