Study on Subjective Well-Being in Voluntourism of Females

They no longer aim at sightseeing or shopping in travel. Voluntourism has gradually become their priority to improve themselves, broaden their horizons, strength their wills, and get rid of inherent living circles The purpose of this study is therefore to investigate the difference in female volunteer travelers in Taiwan. For this purpose, the study first starts from analyzing female background features, then their discrepancy in lifestyles, and based on the data collected, the authors also look into the difference of female involvement. Finally, the authors analyze the difference of their subjective well-being with the study result above. The study has collected a total of 98 valid samples focusing on females in Taiwan who had attended voluntourism through the Intemet platform questionnaires. The study shows that female volunteer travelers are independent in lifestyles and prefer to interact with local people and other travelers. They are fond of arranging organized and flexible trips and they also have a strong interest in fashion trend and trendy events. The research shows that despite many of the female volunteer travelers are beginners in voluntourism, they generally present stronger subjective well-being. The result of the study is available for related departments to arrange and spread mid-term and long-term voluntourism for qualified and willing female volunteers with senior or experienced qualities. In the future literary planning, voluntourism can add on seeking happiness for more females who intend to realize their self-worth and pursue life meanings to understand the importance and meaning of voluntourism and enjoy in it. 展开更多

The ecotourism has quickly developed as the fastest growing industry in recent years. Ecotourism is one kind of tourism industry that also consists of complex service providers like travel agents, hotels, transportations (such as airplane, bus, and ship) restaurants, and destinations, connecting with operational diversity; therefore, those of supported services are linked with a supply chain together, and its management is called ecotourism service supply chain management (ESSCM). Moreover, a low-carbon operation management has also become an important challenge to ecotourism nowadays. Based on the problems of service and low-carbon operation management made together above, exploring an effective solution into ecotourism is worthy. Using ESSCM as a strategy for solving industrial problems of service and low-carbon operations management in ecotourism is explored in this paper. The contributions here include clearly explanations of what ESSCM is and how ESSCM is used with low-carbon operations as a sustainability strategy, and finally a practical case study is also examined in the end. 展开更多

Gender Discourse Patterns of Taiwan College Students in Social-Based Computer- Mediated Chat Rooms

Using two months of mixed-gender chat room discourse records from eight Chinese college students and results of questionnaires from 80 students, this study observed a consistent pattern in the gender discourse in social-based computer-mediated contexts. In both the chat room observation and survey, the study found that males chatted more about women, video games, and sports, while females chatted more about friendship and other small matters. When surveyed, the college students indicated they believed that females chatted more than males, but a quantitative sentence count during chat found males used more sentences. In the chat room, males used more Chinese phonetic symbols and pseudonym inventions than females. Females used more emotion icons and creative language and, when chatting with a male with whom they were familiar, they showed their power and used gender-neutral expressions more often. Both males and females preferred to fashion their chat room pseudonyms so as to attract the opposite gender and demonstrate their personal qualities. The implications for the construction of gendered language in cyberspace were discussed and suggestions for foreign language teaching are given. 展开更多
