The influence of aging on the evolution of structural,morphological and rheological properties of neat asphalt was investigated by Fourier transform infrared(FTIR),atomic force microscopy(AFM) and dynamic shear rheometer(DSR),respectively.Asphalt was suffered under 20 W/m2 of UV radiant intensity and under the condition of aging time(0,48,96 and 144 h) with film thickness of 100 μm and film thickness of 50,100,200 and 500 μm after aging for 120 h,respectively,at certain UV radiant intensity 20 W/m2.Rheological results tested by DSR exhibit higher the complex shear(stiffness) modulus(G*) and lower phase angle(δ),compared to the virgin at the same test condition.The compositions analysis of asphalt before and after aging show an increase of carbonyl and sulfoxides,while a decrease of aromatic functional groups.With the increase of the component of asphaltene,obvious agglomerates of asphalten appear in neat asphalt surfaces after aging. 展开更多

The structure and properties of lithium aluminosilicate glasses containing Y203 were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential thermal analysis (DTA) and Raman spectroscopy. Effects of yttria on the viscosity of LAS glasses were investigated, and found that the introduction of yttria effectively decreased the viscosity of LAS glasses. In Raman spectra of initial glasses it is shown the starting glasses are in almost complete disorder, since all bands are weak and broad. In the spectra of heat-treated specimens some new narrow bands appear and increase in intensity, and the frequency changes with varied yttria addition. The DTA and XRD results show that yttria controlled the crystallization of LAS glasses by increasing the crystallization peak temperature (T), however, the main crystalline phase of glass-ceramics was β-spodumene. 展开更多

CeO2-TiO2 films and CeO2-TiO/SnO2:Sb (6 mol%) double films were deposited on glass substrates by radio-frequency magnetron sputtering (R.F. Sputtering), using SnO2:Sb(6 mol%) target, and CeO2- TiO2 targets with different molar ratio of CeO2 to TiO2 (CeO2:TiO2-0:1.0; 0.1:0.9; 0.2:0.8; 0.3:0.7; 0.4:0.6; 0.5:0.5; 0.6:0.4; 0.7:0.3; 0.8:0.2; 0.9:0.1; 1.0:0). The films are characterized by UV-visible transmission and infrared reflection spectra, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. The obtained results show that the amorphous phases composed of CeO2-TiO2 play an important role in absorbing UV, there are Ce^3-, Ce^4- and Ti^4- on the surface of the films; the glass substrates coated with CeO2-TiO2 (Ce/Ti=0.5:0.5; 0.6:0.4)/SnO2:Sb(6 mol%) double films show high absorbing UV(〉99), high visible light transmission (75%) and good infrared reflection (〉70%). The sheet resistance of the films is 30-50 Ω/□. The glass substrates coated with the double functional films can be used as window glass of buildings, automobile and so on. 展开更多

The increasing application of near balanced drilling technology to low-pressure and depleted fractured reservoirs requires the use of low-density drilling fluids to avoid formation damage. Solidsfree oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion drilling fluid is one type of low-density drilling fluid suitable for depleted fractured reservoirs. In this paper, the solids-free O/W drilling fluid was developed and has been successfully used in the Bozhong 28-1 oil and gas field, by which lost circulation, a severe problem occurred previously when drilling into fractured reservoir beds, was controlled, thereby minimizing formation damage. The O/W emulsion drilling fluid was prepared by adding 20% (by volume) No. 5 mineral oil (with high flash point, as dispersed phase) into seawater (as continuous phase). Surfactant HTO-1 (as a primary emulsifier) and non-ionic surfactant HTO-2 (as a secondary emulsifier) were added into the drilling fluid system to stabilize the emulsion; and YJD polymer was also added to seawater to improve the viscosity of the continuous phase (seawater). The drilling fluid was characterized by high flash point, good thermal stability and high stability to crude oil contamination. 展开更多

The self-monitoring application of asphalt concrete containing graphite and carbon fibers using indirect tensile test and wheel rolling test were introduced. The experiment results indicate that this kind of pitch-based composite is effective for strain/stress self-monitoring. In the indirect tensile test, for a completely conductive asphalt concrete specimen, the piezoresistivity was very weak and slightly positive, which meant the resistivity increase with the increment of tensile strain at all stress/strain amplitudes, with the gage factor as high as 6. The strain self-sensing ability was superior in the case of higher graphite content. However, when the conductive concrete was embedded into common asphalt concrete specimen as a partial structure function, the piezoresistivity was positive at all stress/strain amplitudes and with the gage factor of 13, which was much higher than that of completely conductive specimen. Thus, the strain self-sensing ability was superior when conductive asphalt concrete was taken in as a partial structure function. In the wheel-rolling test, the piezoresistivity was highly positive. At any stress amplitude, the piezoresistivity was strong, with the gage factor as high as 100, which was higher for a stress amplitude of 0.7 MPa than that of 0.5 MPa. 展开更多

The effect of fly ash and early strength agent on resistance of concrete to the cyclic sulfate environment was studied.Concrete specimens made with ordinary portland cement or ordinary portland cement incorporating fly ash with the replacement of 10% or 20%,or 1% early strength agent and fly ash with the replacement of 20%,were made and subjected to 250 cycles of exposure to the cyclic sulfate environment.Concrete properties including loss of mass,chloride ion diffusion coefficient,compressive strength and flexural strength were measured.Microstructure and chemical component of samples were determined by means of X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy.The experimental results indicated that effect of fly ash on the cyclic sulfate resistance of concretes was mostly dependent on the amount of fly ash.Early strength agent improved performances of concrete with 20% fly ash exposed to cyclic sulfate environment. 展开更多

The Ag particles were photodeposited on TiO2 powder surface. The X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, transmittance electron microscopy (TEM), UV-vis diffused reflection spectroscopy (DRS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and photoluminescence (PL) spectrophotoscopy were used to investigate the structure and morphologies of the samples. It is found that the loaded Ag particles have no effect on the XRD patterns, and the Raman scattering becomes much stronger due to the surface Raman enhancing effect. The TEM images show that the TiO2 grains are in the shape of short sticks, and the spherical Ag particles with hexagonal structure are adhered to the TiO2 grain surface tightly. XPS result shows that the loaded Ag particles can not affect the chemical states of Ti and O, and they are mainly in the form of metal Ag. A wide plasmon absorption appears on the UV-vis spectra after Ag photodeposition. The loaded Ag further greatly decreases the PL intensity, which partly indicates the electron transfer from TiO2 to Ag. The photocatalytic activities firstly increase with the content of loaded Ag, and then sharply decrease. Finally, the photocatalytic mechanism related to Ag-loaded TiO2 powders was discussed in detail. 展开更多

Shear resistance properties of the virgin bitumen and modified bitumen binders with Tafpack Super(TPS) modifier and SBS modified bitumen were discussed.Dynamic shear rheometer(DSR) was used to measure the laboratory creep data for these binders over a wide range of constant shear stresses at 20 ℃ to characterize the shear creep behaviors of all kinds of asphalt binders,and the rutting test system was used to investigate the permanent deformation of porous asphalt mixtures using the above bitumen binders for a fixed compressive stress.The shear strain rate and shear creep modulus were used to characterize the shear creep behavior of the TPS modified bitumen,and the rutting test results were used to show the consistency of porous asphalt mixtures with the bitumen binders.Results indicate that a distinction of shear creep strain can be made among different contents of TPS modified bitumen at the same stress level,where the shear creep strain-time response curve of the SBS modified bitumen binder is between the curves of the 8% TPS and 12% TPS modified bitumen binders.The shear strain rate and the shear creep modulus of the TPS modified bitumen binders are obtained to compare with those of the SBS modified bitumen binder which results in the same trend as the shear creep strain-time response curve.Permanent deformation results of all the porous asphalt mixtures from the rutting test show reasonable agreement with the findings of the shear strain rates and shear creep modulus over the range of shear stress levels. 展开更多

Influences of polypropylene (PP) fiber and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) polymer latex on the strength performance, abrasion resistance of cement mortar were studied. The experimental results show that the flexural strength, brittleness index (σF/σC) and abrasion resistance can be improved significantly by the addition of PP fiber and SBR polymer latex. The relationship between the flexural strength and abrasion resistance was analyzed, showing a good linear relationship between them. The reinforced mechanism of PP fiber and SBR polymer latex on cement mortar was analyzed by some microscopic tests. The test results show that the addition of SBR polymer latex has no significant influence on the cement hydration after 7 d curing. Adding SBR polymer latex into cement mortar can form a polymer transition layer in the interfaces of PP fiber and cement hydrates, which improves the bonding properties between the PP fiber and cement mortar matrix effectively. 展开更多

A new type of cement was prepared with ground limestone powder, blastfumace slag, steel slag and gypsum without calcination. The fraction of ground limestone powder in the cement was as high as 40 wt%-60 wt% without Portland clinker. All of its physical properties can meet the requirements of masonry cement standards. The impact of limestone content on physical properties of the cement and determined its impact on law was investigated. The steel slag can excit the aquation activity of this cement effectively, and the influence of its quantity on the strength of the materials was studied, which shows that the optimum quantity of mixing is 10%. By way of changing the different content of the lime stone by quartzy sample, the law of the compression strength and the PH value was determined, confirming that the lime stone can promote the early aquation of the slag and improve the early strength. The main hydration product of this cement is calcium aluminate hydrate, ettringite and calcium silicate hydrate, as indicated by XRD and SEM analysis. 展开更多

Early age hydration of cement paste was investigated by monitoring the ultrasonic propagation velocity and simulated with the numerical model CEMHYD3D. The ultrasonic velocity of the P-wave was recorded during the first 24 hours of the hydration process and its evolution was analyzed. It is shown that the UPV method is an effective, accurate and non-destructive method for monitoring the early age hydration process of cement paste. The early age hydration process can be classified as four periods, which are the dormant period, acceleration period, deceleration period and stabilization period. Higher w/c ratios result in lower UPV, and delay initial setting time due to the decreased solid volume. The change of UPV is clearly related to the hydration degree of cement particles. 展开更多

The crystallization behavior and mechanical properties of CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 (CAS) system glass-ceramics with addition of Y2O3 were investigated. The optimal sintering temperatures of all heat-treated glasses were altered and the crystallization was accelerated with Y2O3 addition, and only wollastonite as a main crystalline phase was precipitated. The volume fraction of crystalline phase and density were increased with Y2O3 addition. The results suggest that the CAS glass-ceramics would get the lowest sintering temperature and optimal microstructure with the addition of Y2O3 by 3.25 %. The bending strength has a maximum due to the oriented and interlocked wollastonite crystal, which causes crack divert or blunts to limit the further development of the flaw size and increases the surface energy of fracture. 展开更多

A new hydraulic cementitious binder was developed by mainly utilizing industrial byproducts phosphogypsum(PG)and ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBFS)with small addition of ordinary portland cement(OPC).The hydration process and microstructure were studied by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electronic microscopy(SEM).OPC hydrated first at early age to form primarily C-S-H gel,ettringite and calcium hydroxide(CH).GGBFS activated by CH and sulfate ions hydrated continuously at later age,producing more and more hydration products,C-S-H gel and ettringite.Thus the paste developed a denser microstructure and its strength increased.The 28 d compressive strength of the mixture of 50%PG,46% GGBFS and 4%OPC exceeded 45 MPa.The setting time was faster and 3 d and 7 d strength were higher when the proportion of OPC increased.But the 28 d strength decreased when OPC exceeded 4%due to large amount of ettringite formed at late hydration age which damaged the microstructure. 展开更多

High transparent and conductive thin films of zinc doped tin oxide (ZTO) were deposited on quartz substrates by the radio-frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering using a 12 wt% ZnO doped with 88 wt% SnO2 ceramic target.The effect of substrate temperature on the structural,electrical and optical performances of ZTO films has been studied.X-ray diffraction (XRD) results show that ZTO films possess tetragonal rutile structure with the preferred orientation of (101).The surface morphology and roughness of the films was investigated by the atomic force microscope (AFM).The electrical characteristic (including carrier concentration,Hall mobility and resistivity) and optical transmittance were studied by the Hall tester and UV- VIS,respectively.The highest carrier concentration of -1.144×1020 cm-3 and the Hall mobility of 7.018 cm2(V ·sec)-1 for the film with an average transmittance of about 80.0% in the visible region and the lowest resistivity of 1.116×10-2 Ω·cm were obtained when the ZTO films deposited at 250 oC. 展开更多
