Styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) modified bitumen crack filling material with organophilic montmorillonite (OCFM) was prepared by melt blending. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the interlayer spacing of organophilic montmorillonite (OMMT) in OCFM is widened and an exfoliated structure may be formed. Thermal-oxidative aging behavior of OCFM and SBS modified bitumen crack filling material (SCFM) was investigated. The experimental results indicate that the rate of thermal-oxidative aging of OCFM is much slower than that of SCFM, which can be attributed to barrier of exfoliated structure of OCFM to oxygen. 展开更多

Effect of Chemical Compositions on Temperature Susceptibility of Bitumens

The viscosity of five bitumens was measured at different temperatures and the viscosity-temperature relationship was developed to evaluate the temperature susceptibility of different bitumens. The generic fractions (i e, saturates, aromatics, resins and asphaltenes) of the bitumens were separated and tested by thin-layer chromatography with flame ionization detection (TLC-FID) and the effect of chemical compositions on temperature susceptibility of bitumens was analyzed using the linear regression method. The experimental results show that the four generic fractions play an inconsistent role in the temperature susceptibility of bitumens and the correlation degree of each fraction is somewhat different. The existence of aromatics and asphaltenes can lower the sensitivity to temperature changes whereas saturates and resins may have an adverse impact on the temperature susceptibility of bitumens. As for the correlation degrees, resins show the closest correlation with the temperature susceptibility of bitumens, then asphaltenes and aromatics, and the correlation between temperature susceptibility and saturates is relatively weak. 展开更多

Rejuvenator diffusing into aged bitumen was evaluated by determining penetration and chemical components of aged bitumen with rejuvenator coat before and after diffusing experiment. Effects of temperature, time and viscosity of rejuvenator on the diffusing ability of rejuvenator into aged bitumen were investigated. Results indicated that the diffusing ability of rejuvenator into aged bitumen could be enhanced with the increasing of temperature and time, however, the diffusing of rejuvenator into aged bitumen would be restricted due to the volatilization of light component and aging of rejuvenator under high temperature (over 170 ℃). Rejuvenator with low viscosity diffused into aged bitumen more easily. 展开更多

The waterborne epoxy modified cement asphalt mortars were prepared with varying content waterborne epoxy and a constant fluidity. The effects of waterborne epoxy emulsion on water/cement ratio,compressive and flexural strength,tensile bond strength,freezing and thawing damage,corrosion resistance of cement asphalt mortar cured for 7 and 28 d have been investigated. The results show that waterborne epoxy is very beneficial to the improvement of mechianical properties and durability of cement asphalt mortar. Waterborne epoxy can improve the flowing ability of cement asphalt mortar. With the increasing of waterborne epoxy content,compressive strength,flexural strength and bond strength all have increased obviously. The modified mortar shows higher resistance to corrosion and the freezing and thawing compared with control mortar. 展开更多

Effects of organosilicon coating with light stabilizer UV326,UV531 and 770 on ultraviolet (UV) aging resistance of bitumen were investigated by testing the viscosity,softening point and the changes of chemical component before and after UV aging. The results show that UV aging resistance of bitumen is improved due to the good weatherability of organosilicon. And the UV aging resistance of bitumen is further enhanced by adding light stabilizer into organosilicon coating due to the good UV absorption of light stabilizers. Bitumen coated with organosilicon coating containing UV326 exhibits better UV aging resistance in comparison with bitumen coated with organosilicon containing UV531 or 770. 展开更多
